Like them, you will soon learn that SummerSong is an inviting and relaxing vacation cabin and ideal for families, those who just love to fish, a couple looking for a relaxing get-away, or a group of friends who want to relax. Warm, quiet, and comfortably decorated, it is a great location for families who crave a lakeside vacation experience. Kids just love it here with access to the lake just outside the downstairs door with no steep hillsides to navigate. Parents can feel secure knowing there is a gradual decline into the water, with no drop offs. It is also an ideal location for people who love fishing. Fishing boats can be moored in front of the cabin or you can just stand in front of the house and cast your lines into the lake. Couples find SummerSong to be the perfect relaxation cabin. With its gentle slope to the water's edge, wonderful outside decks, and spectacular views, even those with limited mobility find SummerSong an ideal location. Old friends who need 'catch-up' time with one another find SummerSong to be ideal for porch-sitting and nostalgic remembrances. A SUGGESTED ITINERARY FOR YOUR CABIN RETREAT
1. As you exit the Interstate and drive through the Ozark foothills, the anticipation of your week-long retreat will reach its peak. The rustic charm of our lake cabin will be apparent as you approach. Nestled on the shores of Beaver Lake, the cabin exudes warmth and coziness as you enter a world of simplicity and tranquility. You will be immediately welcomed by the porch swing and rocking chairs. The cabin, with its wooden exterior, will set the tone for a perfect family getaway. After you settle in, gather on the upstairs deck to soak in the breathtaking views and plan your first simple, yet delicious dinner on the grill. Afterward, walk the few steps to the lake shoreline to take in the night sky or maybe a late-night swim.
2. Lakeside adventure awaits on Day 2. Waking up to the gentle lapping of the lake against the shore, kick off the day with coffee on the deck and a hearty breakfast prepared in the well-equipped kitchen. The expansive upstairs deck will become your go-to spot for family gatherings while the downstairs deck, with its 4 chaise lounges and table and chairs, will be the place to catch a nap and a good tan. Spend the day swimming in the lake and try your hand at fishing from the shore or wading out in the shallow waters surrounding the cabin. As the sun sets directly in front of the cabin, experience incredible sunsets, and conclude your day with a barbeque feast on the deck as the stars emerge overhead.
3. On Day 3 you might decide to explore the several hundred feet of shoreline that range from wooded lots to the south to sandstone cliffs to the north. The shoreline in front of the cabin has a gentle slope into the water making it a perfect spot for your children to swim without having to worry about lake drop-offs. You might enjoy a family game night on the porch (games provided) surrounded by the comforting sounds of the lake at night.
4. Midweek may bring a slower pace allowing you to fully embrace relaxation. Lazy afternoons can be spent napping in one of the 4 swings provided at the cabin or reading in the Adirondack chairs provided in the yard. The comfortable couches and chairs inside also provide great spots for reading or quiet conversations. At dusk, you might gather branches along the shoreline to start a fire in the fire pit to enjoy laughter and conversation set against the backdrop of the lake.
5. If you brought your boat, you might decide on a sunset cruise on Day 5 or dining by the shoreline and swimming in the twilight. Mother Nature is generous in the beautiful sunsets she provides, and you will marvel at the kaleidoscope of colors painted across the sky. Several light-weight chairs can be taken to the shoreline to set up for a lakeside dinner prepared on the grill, savoring the flavors as the sun dips below the horizon.
6. Day 6 might be another perfect time for a lakeside bonfire. Driftwood from the shoreline will provide the Firestarter and logs from the cabin woodpile will keep the fire going well into the evening. The cabin’s location away from the city lights will allow you to witness the brilliance of the night sky. This is a good time to recount the adventures of the week and end the evening with the comforting warmth of the fire and soothing sounds of the night.
7. Farewell, but not Goodbye comes at the end of your stay, whether for a week or weekend. As you come to the end of your stay, we hope you reflect on the incredible experiences shared at our lake cabin. We hope you pack up with a sense of gratitude, leaving the cabin with hearts full of memories and a promise.
The Cabin is Perfect for....:
Kids! They will love it here. From morning til evening, from one of two decks, you can watch them swim. You won't be able to get them inside. With a gradual slope into the water, you need not worry about sudden drop-offs in the water.
The Two of You! Take a moonlight swim, just feet from your bedroom door. Then sit by the fire and allow your mind to go blank.
Friends! Cook, eat, laugh, and visit on the deck until the wee hours of the morning while waves lap the shoreline.
Fishing! With easy access to your boat, you can fish any time of day with ease! Just walk a few steps and you are on your way. Come back to the cabin in the heat of the day for a rest and head out again for wonderful night fishing. Hickory Creek Marina, just across the cove, is stocked to help you with all your tackle and bait needs.
Resting! Wave at passing boats. Catch some sun on the deck. Relax in your hammock or yard swing. Enjoy a good book between naps. Walk the shoreline.
Boating! If you love to pull the kids on the tube, SummerSong is the place. The cove in front of the cabin is a perfect place for tubing. Away from the main channel of the lake, yet large enough for some long runs and lots of turns to churn up the waves, the cove is ideal for tubing. Close enough to the cabin, friends and family can watch the fun from their seats on the shore. Or you can take a day-trip up to the Dam and back while sight-seeing on Beaver Lake.
CABIN DESCRIPTION
The cabin has two levels. The top level is accessed from the carport and road. The bottom level opens to the lake. With large-screen TV, the upstairs is mainly an open area for kitchen, dining, and living functions. The kitchen is well-stocked and a list of food-stuffs, dishes, pots/pans, etc. can be provided upon request (too long to include here. Two floor-to-ceiling picture windows give everyone a great view of the lake and the hills beyond.
With its own television, a separate bedroom (queen) and bath are also upstairs…often used by those who have difficulty with stairs. The upstairs deck area has a covered area with plenty of rocking chairs, porch swing, and table/chairs for eating or games. The connected open deck is for grilling and dining around the firepit. A gas grill is available.
The lower level has a king bed and two twins. This area can be separated into 2-3 rooms with draperies and room dividers if needed. A sitting area with table and chairs, loveseat and arm chairs are also downstairs. This level also has floor-to-ceiling windows to enjoy the views. It is a great area for kids who just want to get away from the adults. Just outside the door is a small covered porch with a porch swing to enjoy if the weather is rainy. A full deck runs completely across the front of the house with lounge chairs, table/chairs, and bar table and chairs. This deck is great for taking in the sun during the day as well as enjoying the night sky of late evening.
On either side of the cabin is a yard swing and picnic table. These are great, too, if the kids want to eat on one side of the house and the adults on the other.
Despite sitting just off the road, the property is very private. A chain-link fence with a tall hedge runs the entire length of the property separating it from the road. A privacy fence bounds the property to the north, and the south side is bounded by a chain-link fence.. The lakeside is completely open to the water. The grass is cut to the Corps of Engineers property line.
PARKING is limited to three, possibly four spaces.
The property uses 3 OUTSIDE SECURITY CAMERAS. One camera monitors the road, one monitors the front door, and one monitors the area south of the cabin.

About the host
Hosted by M. A. Shope

We purchased the property in 1999 when we were living in northwest Arkansas. Now, we live 3 hours away (to take care of my mother) and really wish there were more opportunities to visit and unwind sitting by the water with a good book. I have ALWAYS felt refreshed after a visit, even if it was only for a day. I really enjoy strolling the shoreline at twilight or getting in my kayak at daybreak with a cup of coffee to quietly explore. I like taking naps in one of the several swings at SummerSong...just looking up into the leaf canopy of the oak trees is a wonder. There is nothing like nature to restore the spirit. SummerSong has always been a retreat from the busyness and noise of everyday life, and we are glad to be able to share this experience with others. We know you will enjoy the cabin. We are always anxious to do anything we can to make your time at the cabin just the best, so always call if you have any questions or concerns. Look forward to meeting you!
Why they chose this property
Thanks for considering SummerSong for your Beaver Lake getaway. We purchased the cabin in 1999 after looking at several properties on the lake. I like to swim, and at SummerSong I could just stop the lawnmower when I got hot and literally, "go jump in the lake" to cool off. I didn't want to have to access the lake by car or navigate (sometimes scoot down) a long, steep path or driveway to the water. No long treks with tubes, floaters, etc. Just walk across the yard. Exactly what I wanted--an enchanting place to enjoy and to play. Also "Don't take your ego to the lake" is a quote that resonated with me. We were looking for a simple cabin that would lend itself to immediate relaxation and comfort, and we found it!.
What makes this property unique
The cabin is truly “Right on the water!” The lake access is just about the best anywhere on Beaver Lake. Guests who have not been swimming in years have been coaxed into the water as the cabin is so close to the water and private. Also, the views are just FANTASTIC. There is an Immediate relaxing atmosphere when you arrive. We work on keeping the cabin stocked with items guests will need. A list is available by request. Excellent access for fishing. No drop-offs to worry over with children. Plenty of seating both indoors and out. There are four swings on the property. The upstairs deck has an extra-long one for those tall folks in the family to stretch out and nap. The front deck is great for getting that tan and enjoying a favorite beverage with friends or family. SummerSong started out as a one-room cabin many years ago and as owners came and went, they added on to it in a “house that topsy built” fashion. Some folks, like us, find this a charming feature in a lake cabin and was one of the reasons we purchased it 20+ years ago...in addition to its fantastic views and best-on-the-lake access to the water. Someone even built an indoor garden feature—rocks under the staircase—that we have never used except to store plants in the winter. The kitchen cabinets are original to that first room. We decided to keep them rather than replace them with modern ones. Our other touches have been to re-do the upstairs bath (adding a deep, soaking tub), extend the upstairs deck to the carport, replace the kitchen counter-tops, kitchen and bath flooring and completely tile the downstairs and both entryways into the cabin. We hope to add a sleeping porch to the south side of the house soon.
