Annaly Mill was featured in HGTV 'You Live in What?' on March 29, 2013. It was 'home base' for Jon and Gina Brunson of 'Addicted to the Outdoors' tv show filmed on St. Croix and aired on the Outdoor Channel in December 2011 and January 2012.
Mango and turpentine trees line the driveway. Oleander, hibiscus and Flamboyant trees bloom in vibrant colors around the mill. At the end of the walk leading to the dramatic entrance of the mill, you’ll enter a large circular living room with a stunning arched window on the far wall. Up the quaint curving stairway is one bedroom with its own bathroom. Down another stairway and connected to the mill is a modern kitchen, dining area, great room, two air conditioned bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. Stepping outside you’ll find extensive patios for your morning coffee or for dining al fresco in the soothing evening breeze. The patio overlooks the ruins of the 18th century sugar factory. West end beaches and restaurants are an 10-minute drive. Just up the road is the Virgin Islands Sustainable Farm Institute, which was featured in Caribbean Travel and Life magazine.
Beautifully furnished, private and secluded, Annaly Mill is a truly unique site for the artist, writer, or discerning Caribbean traveler wanting to experience a tranquil setting reminiscent of the Danish days on St. Croix.
This renovated historic sugar mill, built in 1803 for grinding sugar cane using wind power, was first transformed into a vacation retreat in 1946 by Ward Canaday, President of Willy’s Overland Inc. Mr. Canaday’s company provided all of the Jeeps for the US Armed Forces during World War II. Since then it has been visited by President Harry S. Truman and Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.
