We came up for a long weekend to Carowinds. The home is in a good central location to get around the surrounding Charlotte/Fort Mill area. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again!
The duplex is very well-furnished and cozy. It is an easy walk to the grocery and restaurants. If in town for an event, it's a decent location to get to the light rail and enjoy without being in Uptown. The downside is that it's a duplex and the address is hard to read from the street, so sometimes visitors to the other side of the duplex knocked on our door instead, late at night. The host was communicative about this and let us know what he was seeing on the Ring cam. It's also on a corner of a fairly busy street and there's plenty of people crossing the yard on their way home from the school bus, etc. There is some noise at night from freight trucks and a nearby train. The host was communicative and helpful.
Anthony was a great host!! The house was perfect and spotless. Location was great! I would highly recommend staying there as I will certainly stay there again.
We enjoyed our stay at Anthony's apartment.
It's very clean as well as nicely furnished and decorated. The kitchen has all new appliances.
We hope to stay there again!
Great place to stay for a longer period of time. Plenty of space. Close to grocery stores. Host was very accommodating as we had work done on our house. Would definitely recommend staying here.
Had a very awesome experience with this property. Very clean. Super comfortable bed. Great location, close to everything and many options for food. It is a duplex, as in the description, but we didn’t hear a single sound from the adjoining property. Would absolutely stay again if we decide to go to the race again next year. The host is very responsive if you have questions.
The house was cutely decorated. The beds were comfortable. However, the bathroom is in bad shape. The toilet is loose and moves every time you sit on it. The bathroom floor tiles are cracked and dirty.
I stayed with my partner and our 2 dogs. The house was a cute updated property with a neat layout, and the bedrooms were very comfortable. It is a duplex (attached to another home), but you cannot tell based on the layout and we did not even notice it was not a standalone home at first (no noise from neighbors at all). It was great to have a small yard to walk our pups in and the neighborhood around us was good for walking pets. The yard is not fenced, but was pretty big for the area. The house is located across from a shopping center and grocery store, and the only noise we heard occasionally from the house was the sound of the grocery store delivery trucks. The owner was responsive and nice and the check-in process was easy. The location was also really close shops and restaurants (a short drive or Uber).

BE AWARE - NOT AS ADVERTIZED AND UNSAFE AREA
Note that we ended up not staying at the property at all and rented a hotel room instead the night of our arrival. The home was advertized as a stand-alone home, and it is not: it is a duplex. For a 5 weeks stay, we absolutely wanted a stand- alone home. The host acknowledged to us that the description was not accurate, but tried to justify it by telling us that VRBO did not allow him to select a duplex option. He also said that having a private entrance was considered a stand alone home. The VRBO posting also showed a deck facing a nature area when in fact it is facing a strip mall. We felt that the area where the home is located was unsafe. The host insisted the next day that it was in fact very safe. However, we ended up being right. The number of calls made to the Charlotte Police Department for the period that we had reserved the home for (28 days) was 74 within 1/2 mile from the property. Many of those calls were to report assaults , home burglaries and larcenies from cars. Note that the home is two short blocks away from a very large boulevard. Furthermore, when we entered the home, we noticed plugins in power outlets. The house is on a crawl space; it had been our experience before that plugins were used to cover mold smell. My wife has asthma, and this could have triggered it. We could not take the chance. Finally, 5 minutes after we arrived at the property (it was 10 pm) there was a freight train (the property description mentions the light rail train, but there is also a track for freight trains) arriving next door along the large boulevard, and it was very noisy for at least 20 minutes. For the fact that the house was advertized as stand-alone and that it was not, we believe that we should have been given all of our money back. The host offered a 50 percent refund, and was unwilling to offer more. VRBO was unhelpful about the situation. We would have needed to go to court to get the rest of our money back, and our schedule does not allow it at this point. We gave it a 3 overall rating because the property was very clean, the house as well, and the host was fast to respond to us.

Response from VrboOwner on 8 June 2022
Hi Peter, I apologize the home was not up to your standards. In regards to the option of a stand alone home, VRBO does not give us the option to select "duplex" but it does state this in the description. The back deck you mentioned overlooks the back yard. Across the street is a shopping plaza, but that faces the front of the house and most guests enjoy the fact that there is shopping within walking distance. In regards to the noise and safety, as we discussed, this neighborhood is very safe. We've never once had an issue and all of the surrounding neighbors are families with young children. The home is located in a metropolitan area, but as you can tell by reviews from previous guests, the home is set back and away from much of the road noise. Lastly, right after you left and mentioned the smell of "mold" we had two crawl space companies come out to do an inspection and both companies confirmed no such issues. I'm sorry you felt the home was not what you thought, but we take great pride in our property which is why we have such great ratings. I wish you luck in your future travels :)
Very clean. Remodel is very nice! Great amenities. Very comfortable furniture & beds. Loved the interior design. Everything we needed for a short stay in Charlotte!
Very cute and comfortable place that was centrally located and well stocked for us while visiting our son for Thanksgiving. Anthony was even kind enough to leave us a pecan pie! House is in an established older neighborhood right near grocery store, but we felt perfectly safe walking our dog every day. Beds were comfortable - we would definitely stay here again.
Accessible, comfortable, well-appointed property in mixed residential/commercial neighborhood. We did not rent a car so walked to grocery store and restaurants. Light rail is excellent and convenient. Many authentic ethnic restaurants nearby. Check out The Mad Greek, Ebenezer Restaurant and the fabulous El Puro for Cuban fare.
House was as stated on listing. Anthony was very easy to contact and when we had an issue he jumped on it right away. Perfect distance from anything you want to do!
Everything you need. Clean and close to restaurants and downtown. Highly recommend.
