IN-GROUND POOL, Large Private Yard, Dining Gazebo, Outdoor Kitchen/Bath

NEW Kitchen coming March 2023!

Hershey, Gettysburg, and the Dutch Country/Lancaster County are at your fingertips, yet you'll enter your own private retreat in this comfortable home on a large corner lot with majestic oak, maple, and dogwood trees in a peaceful neighborhood. You will be conveniently located to all the attractions of Central PA, with Hershey 30 minutes to the East, Gettysburg 30 minutes to the West, and the Amish Country 45 minutes South of us. Ski Roundtop is a short 9 miles from the house! There is easy access to PA Interstates and the PA Turnpike. You couldn’t find a better location for vacationing in our area in any season!

POOL:

One outstanding feature is the spacious, privacy-fenced back yard with a large 16’ by One outstanding feature is the spacious, privacy-fenced back yard with a large 16’ by 36’ in-ground pool with two fountains, a screened gazebo with dining table, ceiling fans, and lighting, plus a convenient pool house with an outdoor kitchen and a bath with a luxurious oversized tile shower. One extra nice feature is the large poolside deck, not often found in vacation rental homes. The pool opens March 27. THE WATER WILL BE COLD AT FIRST, but it should be more comfortable for swimming within a few weeks as long as we get some sunny weather. Until then, the brave are welcome to swim, or you can enjoy the relaxing sound of the fountains as you lounge by the pool and make s'mores in the chiminea. (Those daring enough to take a dip in March or early April are welcome to do so - it's been done many times!) The pool closes October 1.

KITCHEN:

The 5 or 6-bedroom home features a first-floor, fully equipped tile kitchen with breakfast nook and GE Profile stainless steel appliances, including a convection/air-fry oven, dishwasher, microwave, and large refrigerator with water and ice in the door. There is also a second refrigerator in the three-season outdoor kitchen so you never run out of refrigerator space.

Also on the first floor is the Southwest bedroom with a queen bed and direct access to a half bath (we call it the Palm room!) The bath can also be accessed from the foyer so that it can be shared.

FIRST FLOOR:

The first floor L-shaped living/dining area has leather dining chairs and comfortable leather couch and chairs for viewing the flatscreen TV.

SECOND FLOOR:

1. Primary bedroom with a queen-size bed, a desk, and a leather chair for viewing the 60' LED TV with soundbar

2. Second bedroom with a queen bed

3. Third bedroom with a double bed, a twin bed, and a futon that can be used as a bed. It's as large as the master bedroom.

4. Fourth bedroom is beautifully renovated with a queen bed, full bath, and walk-in shower.

BASEMENT:

In the basement, you'll find the large den/sixth bedroom combination with a queen-size bed, leather couch, and love seat, and a flat-screen Smart HDTV and sound system. There is a half bath on this level. In addition, you’ll find a convenient laundry room with a washer and dryer in another section of the basement, and we supply all the laundry products. Laundry chutes on the first and second floors send all the dirty laundry directly to the basement laundry room. You can play air hockey with the kids while the laundry is drying!

RESERVATIONS:

We mostly book through HomeAway or VRBO (or other affiliated websites) because it’s very safe and secure for our guests. During checkout, Guests review our attached rental agreement and house rules and agree to them by checking the box and completing the reservation request. Due to insurance regulations, we rent only to those over the age of 25. For smokers, we ask that you smoke outside ONLY and properly dispose of cigarette butts.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

SPECIAL NOTE: We encourage guests to purchase "cancel for any reason" travel insurance for your trip as long as the coronavirus pandemic continues. (FYI, our cleaning crew is taking extra precautions to sanitize the home between guests, especially doorknobs, faucets, light switches, TV remotes, etc.)

RESTAURANTS/SUPERMARKETS:

If you’re looking for good local eateries close to the house, walk to Deiner’s on Main Street for breakfast. If you’re hungry for bagels, Ressler’s Bagels and Deli will hit the spot, a very short drive from the house. They were rated a perfect “10”, the best bagels in all of central Pennsylvania. Juice ‘N Java, in Windsor Park Shopping Center, five minutes from the house, is a great coffee shop with gourmet sandwiches, etc., free Wi-Fi, and laptops provided. We enjoy the fabulous gyros, lamb dishes, chargrilled souvlaki, just everything at Hellenic Kouzina, a family-run Greek restaurant with parents and sometimes all nine children pitching in. In season, you can eat in the courtyard with a stone fountain and hanging lights. Don't forget to try Rakestraw's Ice Cream, just a few blocks' stroll from the house, Dad's Garage Grill, or Eckels' Ice Cream Fountain, a blast from the past on Main Street. All of the above restaurants are within five minutes or less from the house by car, and our area has lots of the major chain restaurants as well. There are two Giant Supermarkets within a five-minute drive, and the upscale Wegman's Groceries with gourmet selections of cheese, a Mediterranean bar, craft beer, great sushi, and an expansive hot and cold food bar with a dining area is a short drive from the home.

Great owners, Great locatiion, Great pool, Great memories.
Janice and David were excellent hosts. We really appreciated their helpfulness. Three generations with 11 people (6 adults, 5 children) found enough to do from one location. The house was clean and roomy. Bathrooms were no problem with everyone waking at different times. The pool bathroom was spacious and worked for us. Well stocked kitchen and had a good sample of spices, ample house space with a nice washer and dryer. The Waltz’s supply laundry, bathroom, and dishwasher soap. The house was beautifully landscaped. The pool and gazebo were probably the kid’s favorite spots. Enough room for 3 cars in driveway. Grocery store is very close and well stocked. All our trips were day trips and easy to get to from the house. We went to Gettysburg for a battle and Lincoln’s speech reenactments. In the Hersey area with their candy kisses street lights we went to the Hersey factory tour and got to shop for sweets galore, Harrisburg we took the short tour of their beautiful Capitol, walked down to the river and a short walk back to the parking garage with a stop at Anna Rose Bakery with great lemonade and cupcakes. While we were in the area we took a trip over to Flight 93 Memorial and were taken back by the well thought out planning honoring those beautiful people who were taken so soon from their families. We stopped off for a delicious lunch on the way back from the memorial at the historic 1760’s Jean Bonnet Tavern in Bedford. It is a little longer of a drive but we were glad we went and paid our respect. We made it over to Lancaster to visit an Amish farm and to do some shopping at Kettle Kitchens in Intercourse. The entire group (except the pick-up driver) had a chance to hike the Appalachian Trail (and bragging rights) to beautiful Boiling Springs. (Bring good hiking shoes, but there is a flat surface past Boiling Springs).Pennsylvania is the halfway spot for the trail from Georgia to Maine. There is a large natural springs behind Boiling Springs Tavern. We also enjoyed Mechanicsburg. Downtown is where we found the business that had the hiking maps, the pizza place with gluten free pizza available, and the ice cream store all with walking distance of the house. The reward after all these day trips was the meals in the gazebo, pool time and the great bedrooms. We all enjoyed our stay and glad we saw all we did. We all took some of Pennsylvania back home with us.

Well appointed and maintained
We were here during the Artic freeze and had no interest in the closed pool or outdoor area. Inside we were toasty warm. No shortage of anything we required

Perfect place to relax
Very well maintained. Check in to check out, the whole process was easy. Outdoor area with the pool was perfect to enjoy a meal and for the kids to swim. The outdoor bathroom by the pool was so convenient. Would definitely book again if staying in the area.

Wedding weekend
This property was home base for our daughter and her bridesmaids leading up to her wedding. It was a very convenient location in a quiet neighborhood. There was ample parking. The house was clean and comfortable. The owner was engaged and communicated well. Everyone enjoyed their time together. Thank you for making this a good experience!
