A short 3/4 of a mile down the road are the sandy beaches of the Fair Haven Beach State Park. The Park also offers fishing, hiking, golfing and family oriented activities. A short drive from the Village you will find the Sterling Valley Nature Center, the Renaissance Festival (weekends July and early August),antique shops and local artisans. Oswego State University is 1/2 hour away, Rochester, Finger Lakes Winery Trails and Syracuse are 1 hour away and Buffalo (Niagara Falls) and the Thousand Island area 2-3 hours. Seneca Falls, Genesee Country, Six Flags and shopping outlets are all comfortable day trip destinations.
Fair Haven is beautiful in the spring and fall. There are many local and area fishing tournaments with attractive prizes. Charter boats on the Bay like “Popeye Charter “can help you with planning your trip. Fall offers quieter, warm days for outside activities including the Ontario Orchards Fall Festival.
Best wishes,
Lynn

About the host
Hosted by Lynn Dempsey

I spent my childhood summers in Fair Haven and my husband first came when we were in high school. We love being in Fair Haven and believe it is one of the most beautiful yet undiscovered (uncommercialized) places in the world. We love to sit by the water during the day and watch the sunset in the evening which is often spectacular. When I want to venture into the Village I routinely check out the craft/gift shops for new local talent. We ride our bikes to the Hardware Café for breakfast or lunch in the charming old converted hardware store. There is casual dining at O'Connors Pub and waterfront dining at the Pleasant Beach Hotel. Live entertainment is regularly available at O'Connors and the Little Sodus Inn. The " Calloca Lake Effect Winery on the west side of the Bay is as lovely as any we have visited anywhere and also has live entertainment most weekends.
Why they chose this property
My husband and I are so happy we can to spend our retirement summers in Fair Haven.
What makes this property unique
We especially enjoy the location of the "Yellow Cottage" because in addition to being on the Bay, it has easy access to the beautiful Fair Haven State Park which is a short walk down Lake St. Extension. Fair Haven has all the benefits of being on a fresh water lake for boating and water sports and the being on the "ocean" with expanisve water views, opportunities for deepwater fishing and travel. The Fair Haven State Park is a beautiful public park that has walking trails, sandy beaches perfect for children and a great pier walk. My husband and I rarely miss our daily walk to the State Park! The State Park has a golf course a short distance out of town - great golf and reasonable price!!
