The apartment is small and lovely in a good neighbourhood of Bordeaux. It features a nice combination of old and new/modern. It had a lot going for it. What did not work for us was:
- The advertisement clearly said that it contained a washer and a dryer. There was no dryer and I did not find the drying rack under the bed until we checked out. I counted on that dryer. When I contacted the host I was told the washer was also a dryer, which it was clearly not and when I asked for clarification, I was ignored.
- The breakers blew at least 4-5 times during our short stay. We made sure not to overburden the net, yet no matter what we did, the power kept going out.
- There was a light in a closet that we could not turn off that interfered with our sleep. It is only after I removed a duvet from that closet that the light suddenly went out. Mysterious but true. I reported this light to the host who promised to get back to me, yet I never heard back.
- The apartment is lovely, cozy and quaint. However it is on the top floor of a tall apartment building that is in rough shape. Paint is peeling from the walls in the hallways as there are very serious moisture problems. The apartment seems dry and safe, but not the building. Especially the entrance was very damp and smelly.
- WiFi: There were no written instructions on how to connect to the Wifi. It took me over an hour to figure out the convoluted system.
- The coffee machine broke.
- The Host stopped getting back to me on day 3.
