Tres jolie et calme.

Great place in the French country side. Very peaceful and enjoyed the nature. Easy drive to Normandy museums. Beautiful home with everything we could need for 5 people. Felt like home so we respected as such. Merci.

Capitola, Thank you for sharing your experience. We're delighted you felt at home in our family home. It's truly a quiet and intimate place with its enclosed courtyard surrounded by nature, ideal for a family and yet close to historic sites. We would be delighted to welcome you again. Thank you for everything. Sincerely, Carole and Guillaume.

The overall experience of the stay in Ryes was just ok. It is set in beautiful rural France with the sounds of cows and birds abundant. Save for the occasional car or scooter. The home itself has much character. Also, the updated windows and doors are of high quality and excellent at keeping the noise down from the passing vehicles (we needed them though because of the heat). Also, parking on the street was more than adequate for our 9 passenger van.Our chief complaint about the property was that, while clean, the property felt tired and that it had not been updated in a long time and is not really set up for travelers in mind. The rear courtyard was the biggest disappointment in this regard. It does not appear to be kept up at all. WiFi only works in a small portion of the home. Sorely needs a new router.

Dear Benjamin, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. As you mentioned, this is a characterful house that was converted from a barn. Our family home has the charm of rustic Normandy, and we are particularly keen to preserve this rural feel and certainly not change it into a soulless house. Sincerely. Carole et Guillaume.

Communication with the host was fine. Check in was excellent. The instructions were very clear and easy. The kitchen was well appointed and had everything we needed. The lighting in the entire house was poor. The bedrooms did not have side tables for the beds, requiring us to put things on the floor which is very awkward. Although the specification of the rooms/bathrooms was generally accurate, the second bathroom and toilet are actually downstairs on the main floor away from all the upstairs bedrooms and the toilet is actually in a room used for cleaning materials (mop, broom, etc). So for two couples wanting separate bathroom facilities (which was an important feature for us) it was very inconvenient. A clearer explanation of the room and bathroom configuration is necessary. We understand it was an old farmhouse but it was very musty inside and could have used a good airing before guests arrived The location was good, very close to the Normandy beaches.

Hello Beth, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Thank you for all the positive points you've noted. Indeed, we are very committed to ensuring our tenants have very clear explanations and numerous recommendations to prepare for their stay. Regarding the bedrooms, they are all equipped with two bedside tables (which can be seen in the listing photos), except for the first one, which only has one because there's a door on the other side, making it impossible to install one. Regarding the downstairs toilet, we have indeed chosen to leave cleaning supplies in it so that our tenants have them available during their stay. Regarding the layout of the bedrooms/bathrooms, if it were so important to you, you could have written to us in advance to ask for clarification (this is what we did with the previous Texan tenants because they wanted a walk-in shower). Sincerely. Carole and Guillaume.

Ryse in Normandy

The owners could not be more helpful. Communication and response time was excellent. The house is large, with 3 double bed rooms. One room only has two table lamps, no lighting in the ceiling.Car parking is outside the front of the house, just off the main road. It is not possible to park in the back courtyard, since the turning circle isn't adequate for that.A very quiet countryside village. We liked the location. You can walk out the back of the houses, into the village. A nice walk, but there is little to find in the village.Ryse is located between Bayeux and Arromanches Les Bains. We found this convenient and a good location. The house has IT provided, but be aware that Wi-Fi reception upstairs at the far end of the house (i.e. furthest from the living room) is practically non- existent. There are two toilets in the house, one upstairs and one downstairs. Also there are two showers, again one upstairs and a walk-in downstairs in the washing machine room. Most cupboards were locked, and so there is less storage space than you may initially think.Owners: 10/10Location: 10/10 for a countryside location.House overall: 7/10 for 6 people.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Concerned about the well-being of our tenants, we systematically send recommendations (restaurants, visits, "good deals") a few days before their arrival. The house and private courtyard are indeed large enough for a pleasant stay. As mentioned in our recommendations, the parking lot located right next to the house is far from the main road, making it perfectly secure. Ryes is a small village where peace and quiet and nature are appreciated. However, it is indeed located in the heart of the D-Day landing beaches and the historic town of Bayeux. Regarding the Wi-Fi, we will indeed be installing a repeater at the end of summer so that our tenants can fully enjoy it upstairs. Thank you. Our house is a family home and not a property purchased for rental, which is why some cabinets are locked. However, there is sufficient storage space in the entrance hall and in each of the bedrooms. We have nevertheless taken your comment into account and have left an entire closet dedicated to tenants in the kitchen. The remaining closets are, of course, available for tenants to use. Thank you for your message, and please know that we would be delighted to welcome you back to our home. Sincerely, Carole and Guillaume.
