About this property

The Jewel of Bull Street Upstairs - 1 King Bedroom

This is the upstairs apartment of a historic duplex that was built in 1930 and completely renovated in 2020. The building is on a busy urban street so expect to hear some road noise inside of the apartment. The entire space has been completely redone and decorated in a splash of jewel tones throughout. Comfy velvet upholstery, vibrant art work, glamorous black and brass light fixtures, and colorful vintage glass accessories give the guests of the Jewel of Bull Street an extra pep in their step!

The house is on a busy street and guests should expect to hear road noise, especially in the living room of the apartment. We do provide a sound machine and ear plugs for light sleepers.

The living area has comfortable furnishings, a 58” Roku TV, a stylish (non-functioning) fireplace, dedicated work space, and a covered porch overlooking the BullStreet District. The king size bedroom has a plush upholstered velvet bed frame, bedside tables, lamps, charging stations and two closets for clothes and storage. The bathroom has been completely renovated and has brand new floor and wall tile, a stand-up shower, and the original vintage privacy glass bathroom window. The spacious eat-in kitchen has brand new granite counters, white shaker cabinets and stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher and electric range. A washer and dryer is located in the kitchen and a back stairwell leads to the dedicated parking space in the driveway.

We live nearby and are accessible by the Airbnb app, phone or text during your stay.

Cottontown is an awesome well established historic neighborhood that is within a mile of the downtown business district of Columbia. We love this hood so much that we also call it home and live a few blocks away. There are so many friendly people in Cottontown, don't be surprised if folks wave or stop and chat with you if you decide to talk a stroll or walk to one of the several local businesses within a block or two of your door. Our personal favorites are, well, everything! Make sure to stop in at The Cottontown Brew Lab for one of their many specialty craft beers or swing into Indah Coffee for a cup of their specialty roasted cafes. The War Mouth is our favorite spot for a nice sit down dinner and cocktails, make sure to try their deviled eggs with their homemade hot sauce, they won't disappoint! Rambo's Fat Cat Biscuits is the newest eatery to open in our neighborhood and they offer take-out and eat-in delicious sinfully good biscuits! Il Focolare pizza is also a short stroll away and no need to tip, every employee is paid a living wage at this local 90s themed female owned business (SmallSugar is a short drive away and under the same ownership). Curiosity Coffee has a great little spot with local merchandise for purchase and plenty of brews, drinks and of course, coffee. We love the Vino Garage and they regularly schedule food trucks and pop-ups in their parking lot, so stop in for the perfect wine / beer dinner pairings! Vegan? No problem, Peace of Soul is within two blocks of this apartment and has been slinging out soulful vegan food since the 80s. Did we mention that the Bull Street Development where the Columbia Fireflies Baseball Stadium, REI Co-Op store and Starbucks (opening soon) is also within a few blocks walk? There is so much to love about Cottontown, there's too much to list!

According to Maps, this house is .4 miles to Segra Park / Columbia Fireflies Baseball Stadium, 1.6 miles from USC/Horseshoe, 6.6 miles from Ft. Jackson Visitors Center, 3.8 miles from Williams-Brice Stadium and 2.0 miles from the Columbia Metro Convention Center.

You may park two cars in the driveway. The door leading up to the apartment is the furthest to the right when you are looking at the front of the building. Street parking is also free along the side street, Jefferson.

Its not a quiet place to stay
The property its self is lovely. Its a very old building but they made it look very pink and vibrant. My problem with my stay was that the traffic is so loud outside you cant sleep. One of the nights I counted 14 emergency vehicles passing by in the middle of the night. Its really nice that they provide ear plugs and a sound machine for you to sleep. However, it wasnt enough. Another problem I ran into was I needed to leave for work at 8:40AM and so did eveyone else in the area. They do let you know you can only back out into oncoming traffic to leave the parking spot. Some days it would take more than 10 minutes to back out into the busy street. There were also a lot of homeless in the area. I did not encounter any problems.

Good Deal
This is a very nice place with great value because of traffic. If you don't mind the noise stay here. The guests have a sense of humor - ear plugs provided!

Word of caution
Over all the place was nice. HOWEVER, no female should stay alone. Parking was not safe to back out onto a very busy street. Called about an issue with refrigerator and was told they would try to get someone there, but not until the next day.
