The location of this home is amazing—just steps from the beach! The owner is incredibly responsive and kind, which made the experience even better. The layout of the home is great for families, with plenty of bathrooms so no one feels crowded. I also appreciated the pack n play, toys, and games that weren’t shown in the listing. There are new chairs and tables both upstairs and downstairs, which was a great surprise!That said, I didn’t see many reviews that mentioned the condition of the home, so I want to share that for transparency. The deck has been painted, but there are rusty nails sticking up, so be sure to wear shoes. Some molding was falling off, and the ceiling looked like it might have mold. The fridge didn’t close properly (though the owner was willing to send someone to fix it—I missed the message). The bathrooms and laundry room floor had visible stains and the home overall felt a bit dirty.Each bedroom had ceiling and floor fans, which helped, as the AC didn’t seem to cool the bedrooms well. Water pressure was typical for Galveston, and the tap water tasted salty, but there is a separate water valve near the sink that was better—we still chose to buy bottled water.Overall, we had a great time! The condition of the house was a bit surprising, but the location, layout, and thoughtful touches still make it a solid beach rental—as long as expectations are set accordingly.
