Large and comfortable
Our group of nine thoroughly enjoyed this property and all that it had to offer from hot tubs to pool tables to the private Lake behind the property. So much to do in the city of Durango and Silverton nearby.
First of all your never going to beat this host. Awesome communication, you need something, he's on it. This location worked great for us because we brought our ATV's and could literally drive out the drive way for a few quick rides up in Purgatory and Silverton is right up the road where most the "big" trails we like are. The house, beds comfortable, kitchen loaded and the view is beautiful. Every morning we had breakfast with a young mule deer and 400 hummingbirds. This is a great place to stay with large groups, the downstairs area is a life saver for both you and the kids. The pool table and ping pong table are great!! Kids loved them. We had a great time, will be back for sure.
Thank you all for staying with us and your compliments are greatly appreciated. You were phenomenal guests and any homeowner would be blessed to have you as a guest. Cheers!
Wonderful Stay...Property could use some TLC
We had a wonderful time with our entire family during our recent stay. The house set-up was great for our group. However, this house could use a thorough cleaning and face-lift. Carpet is dingy, bathrooms were less than pristine, walls could use re-painting, fridge downstairs is not cold enough, washer does a so-so job, and the bathtub drain needs to be cleaned out (VERY slow drainage - which is gross when trying to bathe little ones each night). We had to block off the spiral staircase because one of the kids took a dive literally 15 minutes upon arrival, but thankfully there was a baby gate on-site, so we just re-routed everyone through the garage to access the basement for the duration of the trip.
The instructions in the binder say to put trash in the lined trash can in the garage, which is super small, and since we were using the garage quite a bit due to the spiral staircase detour, extra bags of garbage began to smell in no time. My suggestion is to include information about taking garbage down to the dumpster at the neighborhood entrance (including lock combination and garbage pick-up days). It got a little stinky before we finally asked about this, and even though the owner/manager responded very quickly, the dumpster was full for a couple of days before the garbage was picked up and allowed for us to dispose of ours.
Kitchen was well-equipped (except there was no crock pot!) beds were very comfortable, things like toilet paper, trash bags, and paper towels were in abundance, and most everything else was in working order. Overall, our trip was wonderful - we really enjoyed the scenery, the hot tub, the hike down to/spending time by the lake, sitting by the fireplace (after it was fixed mid-stay), playing pool and ping pong in the basement, and just spending time together. With that being said, putting in a little work could take this vacation property to the next level.
Beautiful setting. Everything necessary provided.
Good place for lots of people. You NEED 4x4 when it is winter! Snow was 7’ high Beside driveway.
This is a nice place for a large group. It is at the very end of a long driveway. There were several other cabins along the driveway which appear to be only used in the summertime. Snow was up to the roof around almost all the other cabins. We had record-breaking snow when we were there. A guy spent all day on a miniature bull dozer keeping the road to where it could allow access. You must have four-wheel-drive if you plan to come to this place when it is snowing.
The owner has lots of useful things such as a baby crib and plenty of cooking supplies. He is also very nice and quickly responds with any questions.
Thank you all for staying with us. Yes 4 wheel drive is required in the winter. Yes it has been a record year of snow.
We had 10 feet in February, 5 or more feet so far in March. 333 inches so far this year, 6 feet above our yearly average. Ski conditions have been spectacular. So glad we were accommodating and that your family had a great time.
Big house. Nice floor plans. Great location with view of the lake
Plenty of room for 6 adult and 4 kids! Very nice view of the lake. Great stay
