Sunflower Smile

Sunflower Smile is a private lot in a wooded area with a big beautiful field in front of it. It is conveniently located 4 miles from the Havelock Walmart and the Cherry Point back gate. It is about 30-40 minutes from Emerald Isle or Atlantic Beach. The aquarium is fun to visit, historic downtown New Bern, Tryon Palace, and the beautiful riverfront. Please send us a message about your sweet fur baby - breed and picture. We do work with military and workers in the area needing a longer stay. 🌻

Great location for visiting Marines on the base

Was just what I was looking for close to base and easy to access the highway. Only recommendation I would have for property owner would be a coffee pot and a toaster.

Problems Resolved

I had a few problems but the host and VRBO resolved them satisfactorily. If you're visiting someone stationed at Cherry Point this is an exceptionally good location.

Making the Best of technology

Our stay started off with a technology glitch, but the owner was honest and willing to overcome the issues. While the stay had a few hiccups, I would rent from this owner all of the time if I could.

Cozy and quiet

The house has a well stocked kitchen and comfortable bedrooms as well as plenty of lounging space in the living room. It was very quiet and easy to get to the beach, New Bern, and Havelock. There was a small issue with the cleaning but Wendy took care of it quickly and made sure we had everything we needed. The outside play area was awesome and we took advantage of the huge yard while we were there. Overall it was a great house to stay in!

Not so much

I knew it was an older house and didn't mind the wear and tear. However it was not clean. The owner said she had it "professionally" cleaned but she should get her money back. The owner was pleasant enough but our expectations of clean obviously isn't the same.

Hi John, We take pride in how sanitized and clean we make sure our home is kept. The bedding is always washed head to toe - Pillows, Blankets, Shams, the flooring is swept and mopped, couch cushions are taken apart and washed, bathroom & kitchen cloroxed head to toe. A previous renter did some interesting painting which put some stain marks in many areas. We are working each month to replace these areas. The paint stains can appear as unclean but the home is throughally cleaned and sanitized. We are so sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay. We try are very best to make sure all guest are happy and comfortable.

Sunflower experience

The house is nice, but could use some upgrading. Lacking a few features such as table lamps,,,there was only one in the house, none in bedrooms. Had a nice size yard and play area for children.

Hi there, Thank you for the review. We are continuing each week to upgrade features in the home. There are now lamps in each room. The house has been freshly painted inside and out. New flooring was put in throughout the home in the livingroom, hallway, and all three bedrooms. A new shower/tub, and a new toilet were installed. New bedding, pillows, and sheets. & High quality mattresses for comfortable sleeping. We strive to keep our home very clean and germ free for a peaceful comfortable and relaxing stay for our guest. We are glad you enjoyed the Beautiful yard! We hope you all enjoyed your stay and apologize that the lamps were not added throughout the home yet. We have tried to reach out to you all in private messages - we would love to have the antique reel that was up high in the garage returned it belonged to a Grandparent. Thank you, Sunflower Smile 🌻
