Have the Best of Both: Quick Access to Downtown Brevard & Pisgah Forest.
We hope you enjoy our open floor plan and modern theme and that it’s a nice place to land after a day enjoying the outdoors or whatever brings you to Brevard. Whether it is biking, hiking, fishing, or enjoying the small mountain town feel this house gives you super easy access to it all.
🔹1 King bedroom, spacious, with attached bathroom with shower. 🔹2 Queen bedrooms 🔹1 bathtub/ shower bathroom 🔹 Laundry room 🔹Open kitchen/dining/ living area 🔹Fenced in backyard with fire pit and picnic table
▪️Centrally located and within walking distance to restaurants, grocery, coffee, pharmacy. ▪️Surprising, modest mountain view for a central location from the front of the house and limited seasonally the back deck. ▪️Home is NOT nestled in the forest and does not require any special vehicle to get to the location.
🚲 Approx. 1 mile to Downtown Brevard. 🚲 Approx. 2.5-3 miles to Pisgah Forest. 🚲 Approx. 14 miles to DuPont. 🚲Easy access to the Brevard Bike Path, 100 yards away from the house. ⛰🏙 32 miles to Downtown Asheville
Enjoy coming to our new home, offering a relaxing and clutter-free environment for your getaway fishing, hiking, mountain biking and/or time visiting friends and family in town.
Wake and enjoy a cup of coffee on the front porch looking out to the distance over the homes and businesses and seeing the mountains of Pisgah National Forest.
Don’t want to make coffee or breakfast? Walk from the house to nearby Dunkin’ Donuts or Starbucks to start your day.
If not wanting a chain, I recommend riding/driving to downtown to support Cup and Saucer (1.9 mile drive/ 1.2 mile walk) or The Sunrise Cafe (1 mile drive/0.9 miles walk) or the Velvet Cup Coffee Cart outside The Hub at the entrance to Pisgah National Forest (2.4 miles driving/ 2.8 miles walk).
After you start your morning, grab the river towels from the entry way closet on your way out to tube, fish, or play in the Pisgah Forest on Davidson River, any of the forks of the French broad, the more remote Cathey’s Creek, or the lakes and waterfalls in DuPont.
Stow your gear (packs, fly vests, helmets, gloves, knee pads, etc) away in the entry way closet using the tubs provided to help keep your gear organized and out of the way until you’re ready to head out for fun!
Brought your bike? Store your bikes in our backyard with a locked fence gate. Don’t miss the opportunity to use the bike path down by Walgreens to easily get to downtown, the Lumber Arts District, Oskar Blues, or enjoy a short ride on the bike path from our house directly into Pisgah Forest to hit some trails.
Whatever you choose to do during the day, come back and enjoy some time around the fire pit while enjoying time with friends or family with your drink of choice in the evening. Weather permitting, of course!
Raining? No problem. We have some games in the coffee table. Also, cozy up on the couches with a blanket enjoy a show or movie on our 65” Roku Smart TV with accounts to Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Prime Video and Hulu (please use the Chestnut House account choices) and access to other apps with your log in.

Very comfortable stay. The house is clean, modern and well maintained. Comfortable beds. The host was very responsive to questions. Very happy with our stay.
Truly excellent in all respects. Beds were very comfortable. Home was outfitted extensively with all accommodations and appliances. Great location convenient to everywhere. Owner immediately responsive by text if necessary. We would definitely stay here again !!
It was a great place to stay. We came from SC to ride the white squirrel bike ride.
It was a great house. My friends really liked it too. We would of loved some firewood for the fire pit. But overall, we would definitely stay there again.
This home was amazingly well stocked for guests. The owner provided great arrival instructions. Shared how wonderful this rental is with my sister-in-law who is a realtor and recommends places to stay for out of town clients.
Great property! Would recommend to anyone who is looking to stay in the Brevard area. Downtown is beautiful! Mary is very detailed & friendly. Thank you for your hospitality:)
My family and I really enjoyed our time at this home. We were able to enjoy our Christmas together and also visit our family in the area. It was convenient to the local downtown area, Pisgah Forest and Blue Ridge Parkway. Also, MTB trails are easy to access and just minute away. We had an awesome time.
Mary & Aaron keep the home spotless. It is well appointed with great lighting. They are very accommodating and even filled the refrigerator with beverages for us. Will definitely stay again.
Property is really clean and nice. Location in Brevard is convenient to everything. Host was very helpful and available although we did not need to contact them for any reason. Highly recommend this property to someone visiting the area.
We had the best time visiting this lovely home! Everything is so well done in the house and the owners are super easy to work with! It’s very close to downtown Brevard, different breweries and a lovely little pumpkin patch that we found in the town over called Horseshoe. Will stay here again in the future!

About the host
Hosted by Aaron & Mary Scalf
Hi! We are Aaron and Mary Scalf. We and our two dogs live just outside of Nashville.
We enjoy being active mainly by getting outdoors to mountain bike and camp. We more often go visit the mountains than the beach and time we travel.
We enjoy making connections with people to help the world feel smaller and people realize kindness exists and they are not alone.
Why they chose this property
We bought our Brevard home to enjoy the mountains more and spend more time with our family who live in Brevard.
We mainly made this place with outdoor enthusiasts and mountain bikers in mind but desire to help anyone connect with the outdoors while still being close to everything else desired.
What makes this property unique
We love the open feeling of our home and that even though we are so close to businesses we still get peace and quite in addition to some mountain views looking out from our kitchen window and front porch.
