About Rick Swanson
Taken at Raccoon Creek park located next door to the cottage. The cottage is a magical spot to create wonderful memories.
Rick Swanson purchased this House in 2008
Why Rick Swanson chose East Springfield
The land has been owned by the family since the Mid 50's. After the Elmwood School for Boys closed, there were two other owners of the surrounding property. I believe one used it to harvest timber, the other gutted what was remaining of the Elmwood home and had the buildings torn down. In the mid 50's, my grandfather, James Evans of Girard, and partners purchased 200 acres including what is now Raccoon park. The cottage was rented to Micheal Obrien, a good tenant whom they sold the cottage to. He raised his family there and lived there until sold back to the family in 1987 when he died. In 1965 the partners sold the acreage of what is now Raccoon Park and kept four 2.5 acre plots west of Raccoon Creek along the lake. Two of those 2.5 acre lots is what the cottage sits on. It is our piece of paradise all year round and a big piece of our heart and family history.

Cottage was very comfortable. Had everything we needed. Fit 6 guys just fine. Kitchen was well appointed. Furnace worked well it was a little chilly outside. Second time staying here will be back. Rick was very easy to deal with.
Lake Erie Oasis in the woods
Perfect private oasis on Lake Erie yet still hidden in the woods. Loved the fire pit in the woods. The owners were great and very tentative. The house has everything you would possibly need besides a washer and dryer.
OMG this place was amazing!
Beautiful house, beautiful area, secluded but in the middle of everything we could have ever asked for in a rental home! We felt totally safe and secure- in the middle of the woods overlooking Lake Erie! The beach next door was AMAZING (the lake was too high to enjoy the beach directly behind the house....) so we walked about 50 feet down the road to a fantastic beach! The house was clean- comfortable, and we literally shedded some tears as we left because we didn’t stay long enough! Thank you for such a wonderful weekend in a clean, safe, enjoyable cabin by the lake!!!!!
Thanks so much. We are thrilled you had such a great experience!
