Classic cottage overlooking Ocean. 3min walk to beach.
Charming Maine cottage on a bluff overlooking the Penobscot bay and Islesboro.
Our cottage is situated in the charming and historic Town of Temple Heights. Temple Heights is located on a tiny bluff directly overlooking Penobscot Bay and Islesboro Island. We have seaside access and a pebble beach located across the road. There are awesome views of Islesboro and the bay from many of the cottages rooms. You'll be witness to spectacular morning sunrises and incredible evening skies. Let the sound of the ocean put you to sleep. Enjoy the local lobstermen tend to their traps. Take the ferry (7 minute drive) over to Islesboro beaches for a picnic. Golf at the nearby golf course. Take a walk to nearby coves. This cottage is an ideal place to slow down and relax. We are located between Belfast and Camden, and just two minutes from Route 1. You can enjoy day sailing on a windjammer or a real lobster boat. You may want to spend the day shopping and dining in historic Camden or visit the many attractions in the area. A short 1 ½ hour drive to Acadia National Park.
Parking at cottage: Parking in Temple Heights is on the street. Most, if not all the cottages have a right of way in front and in the back of the cottage. Cars will at times park in the right of way just to unload supplies. Parking at the cottage is convenient and you can pull up next to the cottage. Do not park in front of any right of way or on the lawn/yard. Thank you.

We had a great long weekend in this cute home. This home has obviously seen some love and growth through the years. Waking up to the birds singing was a nice way to start the day. Definitely recommend a stay here!
This older family cottage was just right for our family. We loved the homey feeling with all the personal pictures.
The only comment about layout…all the bedrooms are on second floor with bathroom on first. Not a problem for us but could be for others. Thank you for sharing
Lovely cottage in a wonderful location. Quiet neighborhood but convenient to many locations for day trips. We especially enjoyed our lobster boat tour in Belfast.
The host was very responsive and provided excellent communications. We would definitely stay here again. The only possible improvement would be if the beds were made up for guests when they arrived. We got in very late due to our car breaking down and it was exhausting to have to make up everyone’s beds at 2:30 in the morning. Since their is a cleaning fee, I was surprised that this was expected of guests.
My girlfriends and i just loved our short stay at this cabin! Cute, cute, cute and the friendly neighbor came by to check on us and help when we needed it. Short walk down to beach for rock hunting or just relaxing waterside. Jerry was so great to work with and really cares about his guests. He recommended the Monehagan island day tour ferry and it was just amazing!
We hope to come back again another day!

Peaceful cabin
Beds were not very comfortable. We didn’t realize that the entire upstairs, where all of the bedrooms are, is not heated. It was freezing at night.
What an adorable property! Located in a small community of gingerbread style cottages it’s like stepping back in time. The house was immaculate with everything one could need for a week long stay. Large bathroom with washer/dryer was a bonus. Kayaks, SUPs with gear were available though we didn’t get to use them due to a back injury 😕 We loved the huge firepit and used it almost nightly! Location in midcoast Maine is perfect if you want to visit Belfast, Camden, Rockport, Rockland. All have great shops and restaurants and are within a half hour ride or less! We brought our motorcycle and had some beautiful rides.
A couple things to note:
Two of the three bedrooms are open to each other, so if privacy is a concern (say 3 couples) keep that in mind.
The beach is at the bottom of a steep hill. Although this was mentioned in the house details, it proved too much for us after 2 treks back up! There is some parking 1/2 way down though so we ended up using that.
All in all we had a spectacular week and can’t say enough good things about the owner! Communication was friendly, easy and instantaneous. We were celebrating our anniversary and he graciously provided us with some of his homemade wine....And it was delicious!!
We will be back!
What a wonderful cottage just up the hill from the bay. We had a great long weekend with friends in the fall. Close enough for a day trip to Bar Harbor.
Property was clean and well appointed. Check in and communication with host was very smooth.
Would love to come again!
A wonderful, charming cottage with gorgeous water views. Just as quaint as the photos show and the host, Larry, was very friendly and communicative. The campfire was a very fun touch. The bedrooms are as pictured, but if you’re taller than 6’ take note of the ceiling heights in pictures! It was a perfect “home base” for day trips to Acadia, Bar Harbor and Camden. Overall a very cozy stay that we’d highly recommend.
Our group of 5 friends had a lovely weekend here when we came up for Common Ground Fair. We drove up from Massachusetts so bringing bedding and towels wasn’t a big deal but would likely been a challenge if we’d flown. The only thing that was missing were hooks or racks for bath towels to dry out.
The house is in a beautiful spot with a fantastic view in a quiet neighborhood. We were sad that it was too windy and cold to take advantage of the fire pit, but it’s a great alternative hang out out area. It’s clear this place is well-loved and looked after by it family.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
I didnt stay at this place myself. The artists I rented this bnb for absolutely loved the place! They said they loved how quirky and how "homey" it was. Very Maine, they thought everything was wonderful! I was surprised to receive an email saying that my guests left the place trashed (they are very respectful, this came as a shock). When I asked what had happened, I was told the toilet seat broke and they used the towels and sheets (they stripped the beds) but none of us knew they couldn't use the sheets or towels !
I would love to give straight 5 stars - but we feel the listing should state that the guests are expected to bring and use their own towels and bedding (would have considered a different bnb for this reason alone). Otherwise, extremely cute place that is full of love ! 4/5 stars
Host was very informative and communicated well! The property was as described and felt very cozy. The location is across the street and on a hillside from the bay, but there are beautiful views from the porch. The weather was very mild during our stay (last week of June), but the upstairs did warm up considerably during the day. Only recommendation would be install a window unit AC upstairs. This cottage met our expectations and we enjoyed the visit to Maine.
Great views. House is very rustic but looks like something out of a magazine. Great outdoor areas and enclosed porch dedicated to lobster boils complete with huge roll of butcher paper for the table. Kids loved exploring the beach. Found sea glass, a star fish etc. We saw a porcupine down shore road which was a first for all of us. Extremely close to a grocery store which was awesome. Things to know: well water is not currently drinkable. We got in late after a long ride from Boston airport and that would have been good to know. Water also smelled bad at first but once flowing was fine. Stairs are steep and only bathroom is downstairs and only beds upstairs… if you have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night… little challenging and the whole house creeks when moving around upstairs. Luckily kids slept hard. We are old house people so didn’t bother us. Overall great stay. Enjoyed no WiFi or cable tv to disconnect and relax.
The cottage was perfect for our family of three, including our 6 year old. Charming, comfortable, and lots of different comfy spaces with beautiful views of Penobscot Bay, inside and out. Our daughter enjoyed all the toys, games, craft supplies, and movies in the kids room and we loved seeing the sunrise from our bed! Great outdoor set up for nightly fires, BBQ, and Lobsters, as well as indoor porch overlooking the bay for breakfast and rainy night dinners. So nice to be able to walk to the beach and use the kayaks already there! Great nearby food in Belfast like brunch at The Hoot, Friday night pizza from Chase’s Daily, ice cream at Wild Cow Creamery, and the Belfast Co-op. Owners couldn’t have been more gracious and communicative. Sad to go home, but hoping to return!
Larry was a wonderfully responsive host. We had a few questions while we stayed at the cottage and he responded helpfully right away. The place is even cozier than it looks in the photos and we loved the short walk to the beach. Our preschooler especially enjoyed the kids room which has about every toy, game, and puzzle you can imagine to keep kids busy while you read books on the porch swing.
We thoroughly enjoyed beautiful Maine. However, this is probably a better cottage for a couple or small family. The listing says there are 3 bedrooms. This is not accurate. There are 3 sleeping spaces. It was not ideal for 2 couples - no privacy and tough juggling access to one bathroom. It was also very cold at night in the sleeping spaces.
Most rentals are tricked out for the renters, meaning hand soap, more than one hand towel, dish soap, more than one bath towel per person, etc. This cottage felt a lot like camping.
Our family had never been to Maine and booked the cottage to attend a family wedding. The owner is very responsive and helpful. The cottage is lovely and we made many special memories. We would rent again!

Loveliest get away
This cabin is a special place. We appreciated the lack of wifi and really unplugged while we were in Northport. The kitchen is very well-equipped and the beds were small but comfortable. The views of the water and strolls on the beach are unbeatable and the whole community of cabins was very charming. We loved all the games and warm lived-in touches throughout the cabin and our three year old was very entertained by all the children's toys. Would love to visit another time!

About the host
Hosted by Owner
My wife and I and children live in NJ and summer as much as we can at our Maine cottage every summer and fall. We renovated and raised the cottage and have created a family jewel on the coast of Maine. Each morning throughout the year, our kids take turns crossing off their calendar countdown for our spring and summer cottage memories to begin!
Why they chose this property
Our little spot is perfect for either relaxing inside, around the campfire in the back yard, or to utilize it as a home base to drive the coast. Many of our past renters chose our cottage for its location but found it hard to leave the cottage. The beach is a 2 minute walk, filled with sea glass, star fish and so many treasures. We have 2 kayaks to explore the coast line and take you to the great swimming areas of Kelly's cove or Saturday cove.
What makes this property unique
cozy. close to Bar Harbor (66 miles), Camden (8 miles), and swimming lakes inland. Our swing that overlooks Islesboro is perfect for that morning cup of coffee or late night glass of wine. Our fire pit out in the back yard (we keep firewood ready for you) is usually the highlight of everyone's stay. When we are at the cottage it IS the community spot to enjoy each other.
