There are more than 300 miles of snowmobile trails minutes from the cabin.

Golf: Crystal Mt. has two outstanding 18 hole golf courses just 1 mile from the cabin.
Many other great courses are with a 20 minute drive.

Fishing: The Betsie River has a great Salmon and Steelhead run in the Spring and fall and one of the best places to fishing them is the hole right in front of the cabin.
Twenty minutes away Frankfort offers pier fishing in Lake Michigan as well as charter boat fishing and a beautiful sandy beach.
There are also many smaller lakes to fish within a few minutes drive.


Crystal Mt. Resort: Crystal Mt. Resort was rated top family resort in the Midwest.
It offers a good variety of slopes and terrain parks for skiing and snowboarding.
Something for everyone.
The resort also has an indoor, outdoor pool and hot tubs.
The outdoor pool has a water park for the kids.

We had a great stay at this beautiful cabin! Very well maintained, well stocked and loved how it is decorated! Plenty of room! Master bedroom with a king sized bed and the whole upper level bedrooms and bath are huge! Scott was wonderful to work with!

Relaxing getaway

This home was the perfect place to relax at the end of a busy day enjoying all the beauty that Northern Michigan has to offer. My kids absolutely loved the yard and the big porch was the perfect spot to watch them and enjoy the beautiful evenings. Everything was well stocked and felt just like home.

Great place close to crystal mountain

We loved the cottage, it had everything we needed and more. We especially enjoyed the fireplace and the wood was well stocked for us to use. It is very conveniently located for skiing access, but has plenty of privacy.

Location is excellent. Quiet and peaceful setting. We rented again for our annual salmon fishing trip in Onekama. House was comfortable, clean, and very well stocked with everything we needed. Tim is great to work with and we will be back again! Highly recommended

Awesome cabin rental

I would recommend the rental of this cabin to anyone. It has everything you would need for an enjoyable weekend. We rented the cabin in April for a guys weekend fishing trip. I was a first time HomeAway user and Tim made sure I had everything I needed before we left for our trip. Thank again and we will rent again next year

Crystal Mtn Cabin

We were pleasantly surprised that the cabin was actually as close as they said to the ski hill. We were able to go home for our lunch and dinner while enjoying the slopes. The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to serve all our meals there. Thompsonville is remote so grocery shop ahead of time or on your way! There are restaurants and options at Crystal Mtn resort too. Our kids enjoyed each having their own bed! It was perfect for our family of 6. We loved our adventure at the cabin.

Clean and cozy cabin

We enjoyed our stay! The cabin was clean and tidy! Extra blankets were handy and there was just enough spots for all eight to sleep comfortably. It snowed about 18” over the weekend but getting in and out was no problem. The plow truck came early each day. Four minutes to Crystal Mt was spot on and we trekked back and forth easily. The skiing was incredible! The well-stocked kitchen made cooking meals easy and the indoor space was perfect for watching a game or playing dominoes at the kitchen table! We had a great stay and look forward to booking again!

Perfect Christmas Ski vacation

We had the most wonderful Ski/Christmas vacation at this cabin. Crystal mountain resort is only few minutes drive from the cabin. The kitchen is well appointed and we had everything we needed for our cooking/baking needs. We enjoyed the log fired fire place in the living room, fire wood was provided and stacked right next to the fire place. The Cabin is very clean and cosy. We will certainly be back in the summer to enjoy the river and the fishing. The owner, Tim Bench took real good care of us during our stay promptly responding to our questions. Thank you for sharing this beautiful cabin with our family. Happy new year!

2nd trip to Thompsonville

Out of all of the homes we've rented this is by far our favorite! There is not a single recommendation or change. The property is minutes from Crystal Mountian for summer and winter fun. It is about 30 minutes from some of the "famous" lakes, Travers City, Sleeping Bear Dunes and grocery stores. The beds are extremely comfortable & clean. The kitches is stocked as you would stock your own kitchen. The house has all the odds and ends thst you may have forgotten (pens, scissors, paper, matches, etc.) The bathrooms are clean and there are tons of towels and wash clothes. To be honest, we bring our own shampoo and soap so I'm not sure if it is provided. Firepit with plenty of seats and wood. The house sits back off the road so all you hear is nature. My family and I (6 of us) spent a week last year and a week this year in this same house. We will be back!

We really enjoyed our adventure!Thankfully, Tim's place was the perfect refuge from the unusual cold and wet weather. We were thrilled to find some firewood to warm our bones! Family Trip

The Bench Cabin was the perfect place for our family to stay while exploring beautiful northern Michigan! The cabin was spacious, clean, and fully stocked. We loved being able to come back at the end of the day to hang out as a family and to plan the next day’s adventure.
