About this property
Relax at the Taylor House in Historic Bon Secour!
Lovingly restored 1930s home with four bedrooms and two baths in quaint village
Built in the 1930's this house was the childhood home of one of Bon Secour's most well known residents. Just up the street from the Swift -Coles historic river home this cottage is reminiscent of a time gone by. Hardwood floors and wooden walls, antiques and narrow stairs to the upper floor give the Taylor House the quaint and cozy feeling of home.
For those looking for a smaller place, the upstairs can be closed off and just the downstairs used unless company comes. The lower level has two bedrooms and one bath, a kitchen, den, living room, dining room and center hall.
Nestled among old Spanish moss covered oaks the Taylor House has a timeless appeal. The large yard boasts an arbor where one can enjoy the natural surroundings.
For those who love seafood the riverside community of Bon Secour is home to the area's shrimp boats and fishing docks. Visit any of a number of seafood houses along the river to chose your dinner, wild caught and fresh off the boat. If you would rather eat out the highly acclaimed Tin Top restaurant is right next door.
The community also boasts several churches including one quaint historic building next door and another across the street. It is also home to the beloved Swift School where local children have received public education since it's days as a one room school house in the early 1900's. (It is the oldest existing public school in the county.)
Even though the village is tucked away from the hustle and bustle it is just a quick trip out to either Foley, Magnolia Springs, Fairhope or Gulf Shores where a visitor will find everything from outlet shopping and antiquing to some of the world's whitest beaches.
For guests who want to come to the beach it is the perfect alternative to the crowds, traffic and high rents. The family can venture out to catch the rays on the beach then return to enjoy peaceful surroundings of this lazy little fishing village and the friendly warmth of the Taylor House.
