Our family had a most delightful stay at The Hickory House. The accommodations were perfect for our family of 6 married children and 6 grandchildren. The rooms were clean, the great room was spacious, the amenities were excellent. We recommend the Hickory House, and we plan to visit there again.

Thank you for your stay. We hope you will return soon to Canaan Valley!
Hickory House is the perfect place for our multigenerational family/friends group to reconnect and enjoy some snow fun. The house is great, with extra kitchen space and a perfect table for meals or game nights. The hot tub is a relaxing treat after a day of skiing. Kudos to the plow team who kept the roads to the house well groomed! We had a great stay!
Awesome place, everything there we needed!! One suggestion would be more comfortable sofas in the living area. A little uncomfortable for us older people.(50 -70) year olds. Thanks so much.

7 couples got together for a long weekend of winter fun. This place worked great for us, large kitchen and dining area, large living room with fireplace, and some nice diversions with the pool table and hot tub. About a 10 minute drive to Timberline.

We had a great time and the host was responsive. Liked the common area including kitchen, great family room, wood fireplace (unlimited woods were provided by host), jacuzzi and outdoor deck. 20 min drive to closest ski and tubing resort.
We may book the same property again in future.

Outstanding. Easily accommodated our 19 member group. Never felt cramped, activities for everyone in the house. Fireplace and Hot Tub were a big hit; most of this group was from Florida. Deer every morning in the huge back yard; sunrise and sunset beautiful. Planning to come back . Thank you,

Check out and trash removal can be better
We enjoyed the stay its quiet and enjoyed the amenities. The posting should have emphasized about the trash removal process, its surprising to have vacation tenants to do a 26 mile round trip to throw trash.Booking collected 300 for cleaning and the on-site instructions had us do removal of sheets, loading the towels. We have been renting many vrbo rentals this is first time i have seen these many rules and conditions.Rest of the household and quality of accommodation was good. We liked the property, and the amenities. It would help if we get heads up and more transparency about the trash removal and loading laundry.

Good stay
The house is located in a very beautiful area and is big with lots of space. The kitchen is big and has double sink, stove and fridge which was a big help. We didnt have major issue with the house just the trash was an issue. No one wanted to drive trash bags in their cars for miles.
Will reserve this house if the trash issue is resolved.

We have an option to pay $35 and we will pick up the trash for you.
This house was perfect for our ladies group of 15. Tons of space, but needs some maintenance. One bathroom not working at all. Arcade machine not working. There were only about 12 spoons and fewer forks for the 15 of us to share. Comfortable, clean beds, plenty of other bathrooms to use, huge hot tub, beautiful secluded spot. The visitor binder needs updated. I would stay here again. I appreciate that the management office answers the phone after hours and when office is closed, very professional!
We decided to surprise my wife's grandmother with a trip to the mountains with all of her kids and grandkids for Thanksgiving. This place seemed to fit the bill so we booked it and started planning. When we arrived the place was exactly as described and we had no issues fitting the family together for a thanksgiving meal. By the end of the trip we were already daydreaming about coming back next year. Would highly recommend for a larger family. Only issue if I could think of one was the garage situation could be improved if possible. We thankfully had a truck to haul garage, but driving 30 minutes round trip to the realty office was a bit cumbersome. Overall a great stay.

Spent Thanksgiving at this large home in the mountains. We had plenty of bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen large open living room and plenty of games and puzzles for everyone. The hot tub was clean and had a beautiful view.
The only downsides were.... a few plumbing fixtures that badly need updated, one of the bathrooms had a shower with an ‘out of order’ notice (would’ve been nice to know we were going to be short a shower) and one of the toilets in an en suite bathroom upstairs had a slow leak in the tank and one of the dishwashers was leaking water from the top of the door.
None of these issues would keep up from renting again though!
We were family group of 12 and enjoyed the weeks stay. The home is laid out well for large groups with the kitchen and living areas completely open.
Bedrooms are large enough though the bathrooms are small. Hot tub and pool table were certainly appreciated. The furniture while OK is in need of new cushions if not replacing. Pots and pans are well worn as well.
Wifi had issues and is in need of updating too.
I booked the property in Nov 2023 at $599 pr night which seemed reasonable for the size of the home. Was disappointed to see in August there was what seemed to be a summer rate of $449 pr night. Why was I not offered the lower off season rate?
Overall it's a big comfortable home for large groups. Just in need of updating.

Hickory House
The size of this house is great for a large family gathering and the exterior of the house looked nice and the driveway was well graveled. The pool table provided some entertainment but the video arcade game did not work. Inside many updates are needed such as flooring, furniture, pots/pans and kitchen utensils. An upstairs shower was not working. The hot tub was broken and we were not informed prior to the stay. There was a huge stain on the floor by the fireplace where perhaps some type of leak had occurred. The windows are wood and most had mold growing in the window sills. For the price paid, my (our) family expectations were not met.
Really appreciated the super large kitchen and dining table.
The upstairs Living Room area was appreciated.
Overall it was a great place for our kids and grand kids
It would have been perfect if it was in Cannan Valley, but it was a wonderful place to be together.
Some high back chairs in the Living room would have been appreciated.
It would have been nice to know that there was a code on the door lock as we have five families arriving at different times..
