Excursions: Karlshagen is situated between Peenmünde and Trassenheide / Zinnowitz. The village is only a few minutes by car from the imperial resorts of Bansin, Heringsdorf, Ahlbeck and the Polish Baltic coast. Karlshagen has a very long and very wide sandy beach. The sandy beach slopes gently into the sea and offers ideal conditions for children, older people and non-swimmers. In the surrounding area there is a butterfly farm with leisure park in the neighbouring village of Trassenheide, Karlchen's leisure park in Zinnowitz, children's playgrounds with mini golf course on the beach promenade in Karlshagen, hiking along the kilometre-long, wide and gently sloping sandy beach, hiking in the adjacent pine forest and on the beach. Kite surfing is also perfectly possible thanks to good wind conditions and a shallow beach.
Location description: Karlshagen is still a relatively young town. It was not until 1829 that several fishermen settled here in the north-western part of the island of Usedom, specialising in herring fishing. Like Zempin, Loddin, Ückeritz and Koserow, Karlshagen is also located on an isthmus. The wide and long sandy beach connects Karlshagen with Zinnowitz and is 17 kilometres long. The Peenestrom flows into the Baltic Sea and provides a perfect habitat for many bird species. The small harbour on the Peenestrom is not much more than 2 km from the Baltic Sea beach. The original small fishing village of Karlshagen has also been a seaside resort since 1885.
