This home was absolutely gorgeous! We had a family of 11 and we all fit just perfectly in all of the rooms. We had great snowball fights and sledding down the hills around the house. The river behind the house was beautiful. Would love to stay here again!
Didn’t know we had to get trash bags and haul our trash to town. Also no toilet paper. Otherwise was nice. Landscape and house could use a little clean up.
We had a wonderful time in the Big Elk Horn on the river. House was perfect for us as we snowboarded during the day and spent quality time in the evening at the house. We took advantage of the pool table and grill while there. Shuffle board table was very unlevel but understandable with different people in all the time. Really enjoyed our stay and would stay again!!
Great location and very clean. Not directly in town, which is what we wanted, but it’s an easy drive. Directly on the river! We could open the windows and hear the river inside the house. There’s a nice gas fireplace on the back porch and plenty of seating (inside and out) for the family.
Fish from the house, rent ATVs to drive on trails and around town, plenty of hiking, drive the enchanted circle, see the gorge. There was so much to do.
The fourth room (queen bed) probably needs a window AC unit because it doesn’t get a breeze.
Not super well stocked for a weeklong stay so be prepared to buy some essentials (we bought sponges, paper towels, TP, shampoo, bath soap, laundry detergent). Kitchen has everything you need.
Thank you for a great stay!

Grateful for Vacation homes
The home is so beautiful and the location with the views are stunning. All in all we had a great time with our kids and grandkids. However the company that manages taking care of these properties do not manage the cleaning very well. The cabin is pet friendly which we love. But they need to clean after each guest. Spider webs were in each doorway and windows pretty much on all light fixtures. The dishes still had particles of food in them stored in the cabinets. There were candy wrappers and horribly dried cutie oranges in the game room upstairs. Wrappers were behind the shower curtain in the guest bath downstairs. Mold was in the master shower, the floor was grimy. There were half eaten pretzels found in the entertainment center in the living room. Our family felt that the price we pay for renting these properties and the cleaning fee that is charged. We should not have had to clean the house first to enjoy our stay. It is such a beautiful home. If it belonged to us and we paid someone to manage it I would be highly upset. The view is stunning and the river sounded so beautiful. We even got to enjoy a day of it snowing. It was perfect besides the cleanliness of the house. No one wants to go on vacation and have to clean before you can enjoy your stay.
A great house in general...
The only criticism would be the automatic shades in the master did not work, I think the batteries were dead, no big deal..and the ice maker in the refrigerator did not work....Otherwise it was a great house, will look to rent it again next winter.
Thank you,
Jerry
House is well equipped and ideal for 2 families. Beautiful location next to the river. Upstairs made for a great evening get away for teens. My boys enjoyed fishing and playing in the river. I will absolutely rent again.
Had a great time. The pool players in the group were disappointed that the table needs refelting. Fires in the fireplace smoke up the house. The plugs in the kitchen on the wall of the stove and microwave wouldn’t reset. Otherwise loved it. Thank you.
Beautiful and relaxing place. Will definitely be coming back to stay here again. Management was very easy to work with and allowed for questions during the weekend.
Our two girls and their families loved staying here. Everyone enjoyed the fire pit - so inviting, easy to use. The sound of the river makes you unconsciously happy and content. Loved every minute.
Great property manager! Perfect location with river views from the huge deck! We met our kids there for the weekend, and it was a perfect space and location. We went on lots of walks and hiked several nearby trails. It was a perfect weekend experience. We will return!
Couldn't have asked for a better stay! The cabin was top notch and the communication with management was easy. They know customer service better than any 5 star hotel. We don't want to leave here at all!
Beautiful home in a beautiful setting next to the river! Quiet and very relaxing. Stocked with any/all amenities you would need during your stay. Great for couples or families.
Our family planned for this Thanksgiving holiday for almost six months. Red River is a charming town and the location between Texas and Wyoming suits us. Elk Horn is like arriving at your own hunting lodge right next to the river. We were there during the heavy snowstorm which was very beautiful but I would emphasize the owner’s stipulation that four-wheel drive is required. Anyone who is unfamiliar with winter driving should use caution. The house is well provided with pans, dishes and utensils. Overall we had a great holiday!
Best vacation house we’ve ever experienced! Literally right at the River’s edge! Beautiful! Tranquil! Peaceful! Mesmerizing! House is beautiful inside and out. Back deck is huge with a fire pit that we used a lot.
