About this property
Gold Country Getaway
The Gold Country Getaway is a cozy home located in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. Our home features vaulted pine ceilings and a great backyard space. It is located just outside the Auburn City limits, just off the American River Canyon and close to I-80. This house offers great access to the Auburn State Rec Area for hiking and biking. Old Town Auburn dining and shopping is just minutes away. Tahoe, Sacramento and Nevada City are all within driving distance of our home.
Our guest will have full access to the house including the backyard. It includes a full stocked kitchen, recently remodeled bathroom and a great back yard space with a fire pit. The backyard is my favorite aspect of this house. It is lined with shrubs providing privacy. The back deck has a Webster grill, propane heater, and outdoor lighting. Our fire pit has chairs to enjoy fires in the evening and we do provide some firewood. The fire department does impose a burn ban during summer months which is generally May-October which prohibits the use of the fire pit.
The neighborhood provides quick access to I-80 but is fair enough away to enjoy the quiet. The house is located on a very quiet, family-friendly street. The house offers great access to trails, the Placer County Wine and Beer Trail, shopping, and dining.

Wonderful place to stay. We were in town for my son's wedding. Erica provided everything we needed, even the laundry detergent!! We will definitely stay here again. This home is in a great location.
The home had everything we needed for our stay and was very clean. We were only there for 2 days for a wedding but it was the perfect location. Only a 5 minute drive to Historic Downtown Auburn.
From the moment we walked in it felt like home. The kitchen was very well stocked with more than we would use, though i really enjoyed the coffee and the Mexican hot chocolate!Erica is totally the best! She was prompt, helpful, and a delight. I've shared the experience with other family members for when they are visiting Auburn. Thanks so much!!
Great home! Super clean place great neighborhood grocery stores and coffee walking distance. Very spacious home with all the amenities we needed throughout the house. We were able to see some of the meteor shower from the back patio. Host is fantastic too! She was very responsive to our questions and also gave us the space we needed. She was super flexible with us. Would definitely stay again!
we loved our stay here. We stayed here for the weekend to ski in Tahoe and it was a great home to come home to. We were able to enjoy downtown and old town Auburn very easily at night. Very cozy stay.
We had a wonderful stay - this home is comfortable and clean with a fabulous patio to enjoy the sunshine. The host was great to work with and the location was very convenient for a visit to Auburn. Would definitely recommend! Thank you for the perfect rental!
This property is the most amazingly appointed short term rental that I have ever stayed in. I travel a ton and this home truly felt like home away from home, with ample space, so many amenities, quiet neighborhood. Highly recommend!
We had a very nice stay at this house, which was larger than we expected and in a nice, quiet neighborhood. I especially loved the well-appointed kitchen and bathrooms and high-quality towels and linens. We will be back!
We came into the area for a 4 night stay. The home is lovely and as presented online. We would definitely come again.
We had easy access to the home owner and she answered any questions and gave information on things to do in the area.
We had a great time at the house. It was close to everything that we did. The house was very comfortable and lots of room. The host was always available if we had a question. Thank you for sharing your home.
Thank you Erica and Kris,
Booking and communication went well.
The home was perfect for us.Plenty of room inside and out to be together. Home was clean and comfortable.. Nice quiet neighborhood and even though close to freeway, didnt hear it much.
Close to stores and restaurants.
We loved the area and the house.
So much to see and do, the guide they left was very helpful.
This house was a great bonus to our get together. Will stay there again, if we go back to that area.
Definitely recommend this home
Thank you
We loved our stay here. Everything was easy. There is everything you need and more in the house. We came here to go to ski to Boreal for MLK weekend with Friends. Kitchen is super well equipped, the heat was working very well. Everything works and is in good condition. Everyone loves it. Thank you so much! ( I would just add one chair in the dining area).
Great vacation spot, central to lots, quiet and cozy
Erica was a great host. Communications were prompt and clear, checked in to see if there were any needs, which we didn't have since the home was so well furnished. Extra blankets, sheets, detergent all well stocked with great documentation on where everything is.
We love Auburn since it's close to both the mountains and the big city activities of Sacramento, but also loaded with lots of small town charm and fun (hiking, dining, golf) and this rental is close to the freeway for quick access but still set back enough to be very quiet and private. Grocery store and Ikeda's is walking distance
We traveled with our son to spend time with his kids, our grands. We enjoyed a great visit with them, they all went to ski and snowboard, and granddaughter & I did a girl's day - mani-pedi, etc. The house was great! Very roomy and well stocked with generic supplies for cooking, games, books, bedding, etc. We did have a challenge finding a few things - batteries for remotes, utensils. It rained almost every day, and we did notice some tiny ants coming in the house on the last day. It's a great location and we'll probably stay there again if it's available for our next trip! All in all, we had a great experience staying at the Gold Country Getaway house!
I planned to have 3 friends staying for the weekend so I booked this property. We had a dog with us, but he was going to be staying in our camper van, so the "no-pet" policy was fine. Well, the owner apparently watches the cameras and immediately messaged be about the dog. I told her, no worries, I would be sure the dog would not enter the house and we would clean up after him.
Fast forward to 11pm at night, the Sheriff shows up at the door to evict us! Apparently, since I had an extra friend who wanted to come (the house is listed for up to 8 people so I assumed this was fine), this was grounds for eviction. She never ONCE asked me for a list of everyone staying here. We would have been impeccable visitors, leaving the place exactly how we found it. But instead, she chose to call the police in the middle of the night. Not to mention, she obviously watches those cameras like a hawk, which is a bit disturbing on it's own. I would avoid this property.

Response from VrboOwner on 7 Aug 2023
We welcome up to 8 guests whether they are on the reservation or not. Unfortunately, this guest blatantly and repeatedly disregarded the no-pet policy. They were contacted and reminded of this policy and chose to disregard it. Law enforcement was called after this reminder was given and the dog was seen entering and exiting the house and running around the yard without a leash. When law enforcement arrived, the guest was given another opportunity to find an alternate location for the dog which they declined.
Great spot to access Auburn, Nevada City and surrounding area. Kitchen was especially well stocked with essentials. Definitely deserves a 5 star rating.
Well stocked, clean, large, comfortable place. Good communication with the host through the Vrbo app. We enjoyed the black yard and the bbq for the 4th of July and couple of hikes close by. I agree with another reviewer that the only thing that was a bit off was having so many photoes of the host and their family around. I want to feel like the place is my home for couple of days 🙂
Beautiful place though!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Gold Country Getaway! The location was ideal for our stay. The property was roomy, and the 6 of us had plenty of space to move about. The property was very clean, and there were plenty of towels. We had a great time!
