The house was nice for what we needed. We enjoyed our girls' getaway. We had a few random visitors, would've liked to see more kitchen utensils, and liked clearer instructions on whether the fireplace could've been used or not. Other than those few things we had plenty of space to enjoy our time and the space was very clean.
My family of four (adults) plus my son’s girlfriend stayed for 4 nights. Upon check-in the AC wasn’t cooling. I called maintenance and they came promptly to fix it, and again on our 3rd day. The cabin is beautiful and clean with an amazing patio on the back to sit and drink your morning coffee. We even ate breakfast outside. The kitchen had everything we needed and was well stocked. There is no Keurig, so bring ground coffee. My boys had fun playing pool. The road leading to the cabin is very rough, which is not the owners fault, and they seem to be repairing it some. I would definitely stay here again.
The communication with the rental property front desk felt icy and unwelcoming. After calling about the oven not working the day of arrival (on our stay for Thanksgiving) as well as that next morning, we were told essentially that they could provide a countertop oven but nothing was guaranteed because an oven is considered an amenity and listed as not guaranteed in the signed contract. We lost out on cooking two meals for our small children that we had planned out for our stay. Then told that we were the first people to complain about the oven not working and that these things happen… Luckily the two gentleman who assisted us from maintenance were far more kind and empathetic and after speaking to the owners we were provided with a new oven that next day. We frequently visit Hochatown and love the getaway this amazing town provides us and consider this to be a small home away from home but this trip was different. I’m sad to leave without being able to provide a positive review for the first time since coming here in years. The location, however, was perfect and close to everything you could want/need to visit.
The cabin is EXACTLY as pictured. Newly built with a lot of charm and space, especially in the two king size suites downstairs. I chose this cabin because it was six "high maintenance" girls lodging together for the weekend. We traveled from various parts of the DFW area and Louisiana. This was our annual "Christmas in July" get together. (Yes, we know it is August, but this was the only available weekend that we could all coordinate). The cabin provided a very welcoming atmosphere. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner together inside and on the deck. The stove is gas, which was definitively nice for cooking. The beds are SUPER comfortable. Satellite TV was available. It was very clean and had clean linens/towels. Beautiful soaker tub in the two master suites. It was very quiet and relaxing. Definitively happy I chose this location.
SN: I will encourage you to bring additional paper towels and cleaning supplies. Also, the roads are dirt and gravel so expect to be dusty lol
