This 1958 Alexander Home located in Sunrise Park has been meticulously cared for with a designer's eye and is ready to be your new Palm Springs getaway. Monterey Retreat was honored and selected to be a featured property during the 2024 Modernism tour. Our property was selected because of its iconic mid-century modern architecture and upgraded interior design. During Modernism week in February 2024, we allowed members of the design community to tour the property. The home was built by the Alexander Building Company in 1958. The architect was William Krisel.
This 3 bedroom 2 bath home offers you amazing interior and exterior spaces, epic mountain views, tastefully furnishings, quality beds, fresh, hip and vibrant art along with plenty of space for your entire group to spread out, relax and enjoy.
The house features Fine Art works from emerging and established artists that were carefully curated by the owner who thought of everything when decorating this mid-century home to create the perfect Palm Springs vacation escape.
For those who are pro-carbon neutral living the house has solar panels, pool solar heating and New Electrify America EV charging station.

It can be very windy in the area, umbrellas MUST be removed from stands when not in use or when windy. If umbrellas are broken due to wind damage, guests will be charged a replacement fee.

PARKING:

Home Truths:
*The pool can get dirty very quickly at times due to desert weather. We'll do our best to get the pool company out there as soon as possible.
*The pool is not very deep (7 ft) and is not meant for diving. Never let children unattended in the pool area.
*Cleaning supplies can be in places that are easily accessed by children. Please take caution.
*The home is near the airport so it can be noisy.
*Backyard is close to neighbors so staying within noise ordinance is very important!
*The wooden ceiling creaks a little.
Any fines, citations or penalties imposed against us for actions triggering a violation of the City of Palm Springs will be deducted from the security deposit. Such examples can be found in our House Rules.
In the City of Palm Springs, Occupant must be at least 25 years of age or older. By continuing with this reservation, Occupant represents that they are older than 25 years of age and further warrants that other occupants are either over the age of 25, or are accompanied by an adult guardian.
NOISE: Palm Springs has strict ordinances that govern vacation rentals. In particular, we want you to note that "NO outside music is allowed at vacation rental homes." I know, we all love our tunes out by the pool, but it's just not allowed by law. Music may not be heard at the property lines at any time of the day (that includes music coming from inside the home). Please abide by this rule so you don't get fined by the police, and so we don't lose our vacation rental permit.
Pool Heating and Spa (if applicable to this property):
*Pool heating can be hired for the whole stay: $150 for the first day then $100/day thereafter. Please inquire about extra fees if booking long (28+ night) stays;
*Pool heating when hired is limited to 84F;
*Pool does not need to be heated during the Summer months (June-August) it’s usually 80F+ naturally;
*Hosts will not be able to provide any refunds for occasional non-working pool heating that occur during your stay but we will do our best to have it solved in a timely manner.
*Spa/Jacuzzi when available, its heating is included and initiated on-demand by the guest onsite.
Guests will be charged the TOT and TBID taxes.

Should there be a conflict between the Vrbo Terms and Conditions, and those listed on the link above or herein, then the terms most favorable to us as the Host shall take effect.
-Please respect check-in and checkout times.
-Primary renter must be over the age of 25.
-Host may request a photocopy of renter's ID for verification before check-in.
-This is a private property and the host reserves the right to access the property at any time to perform maintenance repairs necessary or requested by the renter.
-Maintenance/Vendors schedule: we are unable to offer refunds or credits for inconveniences due to scheduling and maintenance done during your stay. Guests should understand that such vendors must be able to access the home as well as service the property so we request that our maintenance teams are not turned away if they should overlap your stay.
-Absolutely NO parties or loud music.
-This is a NON-SMOKING property.
-NO animals or pets of any kind are permitted at the Property except (1) as specifically authorized in your reservation, or (2) bona fide service animals that we are required by law to allow. Emotional support animals are not permitted except as authorized pets. You agree that a prohibition on animals is not a guarantee that an animal has not been inside the Property or that the Property is free of animal or pet allergens. If pets were to be brought without our consent and knowledge, guests will have to pay twice the pet fee or will have their reservation cancelled immediately.
-Security camera/recording device — Our properties may have outdoor security cameras aimed on the exterior of the home, doorbell camera and/or an alarm system for the safety of the house and its occupants. Non-recording audio monitoring devices (NoiseAware) might be installed onsite to warn us of excessive noise and avoid complaints.
***PLEASE READ ***
Due to new stricter regulations in Palm Springs, now every guest who books a Vacation Rental in the city is required to receive the Good Neighbor Brochure and also have all guests in the party fill out and sign the Statement of Rules BEFORE having access to the property. In addition to that, we need a list of all guests' vehicles, including license plate numbers and also a copy of your Government ID.
As the person booking this property, you are the main point of contact and person responsible for ensuring your guests comply with the house rules and City rules. Please be advised that the City will fine renters in $500 per occurrence without notice if they fail to comply with the local ordinance.
The main sources of violations are:
-An excessive and unaccounted number of guests onsite
-An excessive number of cars
-Loud outdoor music (and this includes playing music from inside the home so you can hear it outside)
-Trash left outside and on sight
Please send us the FIRST and LAST NAMES and EMAILS from every adult staying at the house. They will all receive and sign the documents digitally using DocuSign.
Only registered guests as listed on the rental agreement should be on the premises. No additional guests or visitors allowed.
*The current emergency orders in place supersede information in the Good Neighbor Brochure and the Rental Certificate regarding daytime guests.
The Statement MUST be returned to us as soon as possible. Just please be aware that we are NOT allowed to give anybody access to the home until we receive the statement with ALL signatures and the copy of your ID.
We apologize for any inconvenience, however, the City of Palm Springs is not treating this lightly and everyone has to obey and adapt to the new scenario.
