Commander-North Bin. DT Stillwater. River Views!

This unique architectural gem, nestled inside the iconic Commander Grain Elevator, is located in the historic and vibrant heart of downtown Stillwater. Just a stone's throw away from the St. Croix River with convenient access to walking/biking trails, boating, restaurants, shops and entertainment.
Once a functioning grain elevator, The Commander has been carefully renovated over the past 30 years by the owner/architect, Mike McGuire. This fabulous 2 story apartment with 2 bedrooms (1 king, 1 queen), den/TV room/additional sleeping area, gourmet kitchen, living room, designated parking spot and spacious deck offers rustic yet modern sophistication and comfort with river views from most every room.
It is our great pleasure to share this truly one of kind experience with you. Come for the biking/walking trails, great food, coffee shops, art and music festivals, pottery tours, shopping, fall colors, and boating. It's a perfect place to stay if you're in town for a wedding as well! We entirely love this building, Stillwater and the beautiful St. Croix River Valley and think you will too!

Important things to note:
There are 29 steps to get up to the apartment and an additional 14 steps up to the bedrooms and bathroom. (No elevator)
No smoking of any kind inside or outside on the deck of the property. Plenty of parks, benches and trails to enjoy while smoking.
No events or parties.
No pets. Sorry. 😕
Please note, at one time this building was used to store grain and may not be a good choice for those with certain allergies.
Please note, the owner's dog has stayed here occasionally.
While we do allow children, please note that this entire space is not child-proofed. There are many steps/stairs, sharp corners on a glass table, etc.
Directions and access instructions for your reservation will be provided upon final payment.

PLEASE NOTE: If you need/want space for more guests we do have South Bin adjacent to this property. It sleeps a maximum of 3 guests. There are two condos in the Commander - Stillwater so you'd have the space to yourselves!

Excellent amenities! Loved everything about our stay. The view was beautiful. Enjoyed whomever was playing the piano at Matt’s Saturday night! Great location for shopping and eating. Once we parked(which was very convenient) we really didn’t need to drive. If per chance someone parks in your very clearly marked designated spot…they did…. There is other parking available. The North Bin accommodations were excellent! Very nice apartment which has a deck with a beautiful view. Location was perfect with shopping, pubs/restaurants and walking areas just outside our door. Would recommend staying her for sure!!!!

We were here for my son's wedding on the paddle boats, so the location couldn't have been better!! They were accommodating for us to get in early. While it was a little pricey, we especially appreciate the minimal things to do for check out. All in all would HIGHLY recommend

This place is so neat! Can't get a better location for downtown Stillwater. Walking distance to everything. We stayed here for our 20th anniversary with another couple. Lots of space. We spent a lot of time hanging out at the place due to rain. Highly recommend.

This was such a cute place to stay for girls weekend. It is close to everything! We loved being able to pop in and out throughout the day and evening. All our possible needs were met (house crocs, earplugs, coffee, etc). The beds are fabulous and the view of the river was great. No place better to stay in Stillwater!

Great NYE Stay!

We had friends visiting from Melbourne, Australia, and wanted to find a special spot to ring in the New Year. The Commander Grain Elevator was just that! The space is beautiful, the kitchen has everything you need and the location provides amazing walkability to coffee shops, restaurants and more! And for the farm fanatic three-year old, staying in a grain elevator was a dream come true. Would recommend staying here!
