...................................................................................................
A bully good historic attraction, not to be missed: the home of Theodore Roosevelt from 1902 to 1906, considered the "Summer White House," a beautiful 23-room Victorian mansion estate that also includes a 37-acre National Environmental Study Area of the forest, tidal salt marsh and bay beach.

* Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park (5 min drive/10 mins cycling) -
...................................................................................................................
Located in Oyster Bay, New York and originally landscaped by the Olmsted Brothers, the grounds feature 409 acres of greenhouses, rolling lawns, formal gardens, woodland paths and outstanding plant collections. The original historic estate buildings remain intact including Coe Hall, a 65-room Tudor Revival mansion designed by Walker and Gillette. The interior of the house is a showcase of artistry and craftsmanship and features a distinctly American aesthetic through original ironwork commissions by Samuel Yellin and murals painted by artists Robert Winthrop Chanler and Everett Shinn. Planting Fields is included in the National Register of Historic Places.

* Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park (4 mins drive/7 mins cycling) -
..................................................................................................
This Upper West Side park, home to the American Museum of Natural History, honors New York City Police Commissioner, Governor of New York State, Vice-President, and (following William McKinley’s assassination) the youngest man to serve as President of the United States: Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919).

* Oyster Bay Brewing Company (3 mins drive/17 mins walk) -
..............................................................
Micro-brewery located in the heart of Oyster Bay. All of our beers are brewed in Oyster Bay. We are home to the Barn Rocker, the beer of the NY Islanders. We are open for flights, pints and growler fills. We do not have a menu for food, however we serve hot pretzels. You are welcome to bring in food from outside.

* Raynham Hall Museum (3 mins drive/17 mins walk/5 mins cycling) -
................................................................................................................................
Raynham Hall is in Oyster Bay, New York. Home of the Townsend family, one of the founding families of Oyster Bay, on Long Island, New York, and a member of George Washington's Culper Ring of spies, the house was renamed Raynham Hall (seat of the Marquesses Townshend) after the Townsend seat in Norfolk, England, in 1850 by a grandson of the original owner. The house is now owned by the Town of Oyster Bay and operated as a public museum by the Friends of Raynham Hall Museum, Inc. Raynham Hall is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, a Town of Oyster Bay Landmark, and is a featured site on the Oyster Bay History Walk audio walking tour. It is located at 20 West Main Street, right in the heart of Oyster Bay. The new education center is where guests purchase tour tickets, and is located at 30 West Main Street.

Lock fell off door. A/C was water cooler & very damp. Dark basement. Grateful it was near Oyster Bay.

Quick visit to NYC
This is a small but cute little apartment in a quiet neighborhood. It was well equipped and the owner had put in some extras like toothpaste and tooth brushes for everyone and popcorn. We only stayed one night but it served us well.

The owners were nice to deal with. They were trying. The place wasn’t at all what I expected. It’s a basement not a luxury condo. That said, it has good books and it was functional. The beds are not good for more than one person each. There’s no laundry. The bedding wasn’t particularly nice. I gave it a courtesy “good” because it has potential but they probably won’t realize it unless they pay more attention. Again, this isn’t the house you see on Google maps, it is the dark basement. That was deceiving. The entrance is dank.

Hi not the first time staying at location, but first reserving with VRBO. Location had not been cleaned on arrival. Host called first morning notifying us cleaner was waiting outside to come & clean. We waited until apartment was clean and beds were made.

Nice little place!
It was a nice place with all the essentials you’d need for a short term stay. The only tough part was the second door was very hard to open. The keys did not work. The keys only worked for the main outside door. Other then that we have no complaints!
