About this property

Cozy Up at a Nature Inspired Boutique Studio in the Trees - River Nearby

Wake up to treetop views at this spacious bungalow with hanging plants, botanical art, and a stunning cedar ceiling. Stroll down to the end of the dead-end road and find the Deschutes River Trail, which can take you downtown along a meandering paved path, or cross the river and enjoy miles of riverside walking. Enjoy a picnic at First Street Rapids Park, just steps away, then curl up and restore on the ultra comfy king bed. Wake up refreshed and enjoy your coffee immersed in the vibe of this nature inspired space.

This is a special space. A natural cedar plank ceiling accents the surrounding mature trees and landscape. Relaxing is inevitable in this private sanctuary where all your needs are met. The location cannot be beat with both the best of nature and convenience.

There is a private stairway entrance from the backyard where you can come and go at any hour. You'll have access to a kitchenette (with sink, microwave, Keurig machine, sandwich press, air fryer, ample counter space, picnic supplies, etc.), and a private bathroom.

We are generally available to help you out with anything, since we live on the property as well but wish to respect your privacy.

This is a historic neighborhood smack dab in the middle of Bend. There are multimillion dollar homes, as well as ones that haven't changed since they were built in the '20s. Nearby First Street Rapids Park has a variety of picnic areas and river access.

Bend is certainly not known for it's public transportation, but fortunately there is ample street parking due to a vacant lot next to our home. There is also parking in front of our home.

Please note that because the room is attached to our main home separated by a stairway, there are some normal household noises that will come into the room. We aren't a loud family, but if you are expecting total silence, you might want to look for another option.
NO PARTIES. This is a quiet neighborhood, not a tourist hot-spot, and we want to share it with folks who want to enjoy themselves. However, the volume level needs to stay reasonable. We do have noise-monitoring devices (Minut sensors--please note they do not record/transmit anything, they just monitor noise levels) in the home, as well as exterior security cameras.

Thank you for removing your shoes before going onto the carpeted areas.

We appreciate quiet footsteps/voices as you come up the staircase (there is a kids bedroom nearby).

Bend getaway
The studio was spacious, comfortable, and well supplied with everything we needed! The host was thoughtful and easy to communicate with. We enjoyed walking on the nearby river trail. The location was easy to get to from the freeway, but also very quiet. We would love to stay there again.

Pleasant studio
My stay was great! I was hoping for something that felt cozier and more homey than a hotel while I'm away from family for work. I got that in this suite. Ryan and Katie were very accommodating hosts. I would recommend it and stay there again.

About the host

Host profile image
We are a small family with a love for being outside and travel. Katie hails from Olympia, and Ryan is from a small (formerly mill, now high tech) town in SW Washington state. We were living in Jakarta and thinking about a place to raise a family, and after months of agonizing decision making (involving spreadsheets with point values for things like "clean air" and "proximity to ski-lifts"), we decided on Bend. It was a wonderful decision. We love hosting people because we know what its like to show up to a place and feel welcomed. That moment you walk in the door and go "Oh, yes!" -- hard to beat that.

Why they chose this property

Location! This little hidden pocket of Bend is so unique. It is a quiet residential area with a wonderful mix of people from all over. We love that there are brand new multi-million dollar townhomes right next to mill-houses from 1915. In fact, the house across the street is an old stage-coach stop that has been lovingly cared for and is full of all sorts of quirks. But the real appeal of this place is the proximity of First Street Rapids Park and the Deschutes River Trail. Katie is down there literally multiple times a day and it never fails to give a gentle reset.

What makes this property unique

Being on the West side of the highway means all of Bend's most wonderful attractions are in your backyard and are imminently walk/bike-able. We are extra fortunate to be on the East side of the Deschutes, tucked into a quiet neighborhood, which means hopping onto highway 97 doesn't involve the bottlenecks of the few bridges across the river. Its a rare combination of proximity to the river and convenience to the practical side of Bend.
