## Neighborhood

Rue Jeanne d'Arc is one of the main and most emblematic thoroughfares in the city of Rouen, in Normandy. It runs through a large part of the city centre and is particularly steeped in history.

Rue Jeanne d'Arc starts at Gare de Rouen Rive Droite, which is located on a hill, and runs down to the Seine, joining the historic heart of Rouen. It stretches for over a kilometre.

The architecture of the street is varied, reflecting the different eras it has passed through. There are Haussmann buildings, modern buildings and historic buildings. Many shops, cafés, restaurants and banks line the street, making it a lively area.

Monuments of note :
/ Joan of Arc Tower: Located at the upper end of the street, near the station, this tower is the only remnant of the castle where Joan of Arc was imprisoned before her trial.

/The Hôtel de Ville (Town Hall): An imposing neo-classical building located just off the rue Jeanne d'Arc.

/ Saint-Patrice Church: Not far from the street, with its flamboyant Gothic architecture.

Rue Jeanne d'Arc runs through several of Rouen's most important districts:

/ The Gare district (Rive Droite):
This is a vibrant area, with many shops, cafés and hotels. Rouen station is a central point for travellers from Paris and other regions, and rue Jeanne d'Arc provides an easy link between the station and the city centre.

/The historic quarter :
As you descend towards the Seine, you approach the historic heart of Rouen. This area is rich in heritage, with cobbled streets, half-timbered houses and famous monuments such as Notre-Dame de Rouen cathedral. There's also the Place du Vieux-Marché, where Joan of Arc was burnt in 1431.

/Commercial district:
The middle part of the rue Jeanne d'Arc is particularly busy with shops. It is home to many big names, local boutiques and shopping centres such as Printemps.

The street ends near the Pont Jeanne d'Arc, which crosses the Seine, linking the right bank of Rouen to the left bank. This area is also a strategic point for travel between the two parts of the city.

The street takes its name from Joan of Arc, the famous French heroine who left her mark on the history of Rouen. It was here that she was imprisoned, tried and executed in the Place du Vieux-Marché, just a few minutes from the rue Jeanne d'Arc. Several of the town's monuments and museums are dedicated to her memory.

Today, rue Jeanne d'Arc is a focal point of Rouen. It is frequented by locals and tourists alike. The Rouen tramway runs along it, making it easy to get around the city. The mix of shops, public institutions and historic buildings gives it an atmosphere that is both modern and rooted in the past.

All in all, rue Jeanne d'Arc is a true reflection of the diversity and rich history of Rouen, as well as being a lively and central place in the daily lives of its residents.

## Transit

Rue Jeanne d'Arc is right in the heart of Rouen, with all transport links nearby. TEOR lines T1, T2 and T3 pass close to rue Jeanne d'Arc, making it easy to get around the city and the surrounding area. Several bus routes, including routes 8, 11 and 20, also serve rue Jeanne d'Arc. Rouen has a metro line (line M) that passes through the Théâtre des Arts and Gare-Rue Verte stations. This line connects various districts of the city. Gare-Rue Verte station is close to rue Jeanne d'Arc. It is possible to hire a bike for short journeys and to access other points of interest in Rouen. Taxi services are available around the station and throughout Rouen.

10/10 Excellent

5 star apartment, 5 star host. We’d be very happy to stay here again

This apartment was ideal for our seven day stay in June with four adults. It’s a great location in the heart of Rouen and just 300 metres from the underground parking at Palais du Justice (Tip: the weekly ticket is good value). Although it's city centre the noise from traffic and people on the street was not a problem, even with the widows open at night (it was the hottest week of the year with daytime temperatures up to 32C), and there was no noise from any neighbours. Check in was easily arranged and there was someone to meet us, show us around, and hand over the keys and show us round the apartment. The apartment is spacious (bigger than it looks in the pictures), nicely laid out, nicely decorated, and immaculately clean. The kitchen diner had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable, the linen and towels were good quality, and there was plenty of space for clothes in the drawers and wardrobe, and the lounge was great for the four of us to relax with a drink in the evenings. The host responded quickly to all my messages, and was especially helpful after checkout when I discovered I'd locked the keys for my car inside the apartment, but they came round very quickly to let me back in to get them. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and we’d be very happy to stay here again.
