Welcome to Dragonfly! Our custom built “modern cabin” in the woods is located on 4 secluded acres offering amazing long range mountain views. If you’re looking for privacy and tranquility, look no further, this is the one for you.
You’ll enter the cabin on the main level where you’ll be greeted with soaring floor to ceiling windows bringing the outside in. The open concept living space allows everyone to spend time together for great family time. A high-top island bar separates the living room and kitchen. The large “Indian Wedding Table” is perfect for your family dinner, table can easily accommodate 6-8 guests. The fully equipped kitchen is sure to meet all your needs. You’ll find a 12-cup coffee maker as well as a single cup Keurig with complimentary K-cups. We have well water and a purifier on the sink in the island bar, better for drinking water.
In the living room, enjoy the big screen TV and gas fireplace for those chilly winter nights. A slider door exits to the expansive wrap around deck where you’ll find adequate seating and a gas grill. This is our favorite spot to enjoy our morning coffee, sit back and enjoy as the smoke rises from the great Smoky mountains. It never seems to get old. Back inside on the main level, there are 2 bedrooms, 1 has a queen bed and the other has a pair of twin beds. Also, the main bath with a walk-in shower and a fully equipped laundry room and pantry.
Head upstairs to the master and prepare to be amazed! A cozy loft overlooks the living area, the perfect place to curl up with a good book. Upon entering the master, you will again be greeted by floor to ceiling windows and more than a touch of luxe. A queen size 4 poster bed promises a comfy night’s sleep and wake to beautiful sights and sounds of nature. There’s a huge walk-in closet with a full-length mirror and a beautiful black lacquered wardrobe for additional storage. A large desk if you’re on a working vacay, and a big screen TV. The master bath is beyond luxurious with a double glass and marble vanity, an oversized jetted bathtub, as well as a huge walk-in shower big enough for two with double shower heads. All sitting on gorgeous black marble floors with a built-in wall heater.
Back downstairs to the terrace level and it’s Party Time! A very nice pool table, a dart board, plenty of board games, a WII console game, or enjoy a game on the big screen. The FUN continues when you step out the back door, the hot tub awaits, seats 5-6 people, wonderful for melting your cares away. There’s also a large fire pit area for more relaxation and smores are a must. For more outdoor fun and games, there’s corn hole and of course a ping pong table or great hiking right outside the front door.
We offer satellite TV with HBO, Showtime, and Starz. We also offer internet access via a new Verizon MIFI hot spot that allows up to 10 users. I have Verizon mobile service and my husband has AT&T, we both get pretty good reception there. Unfortunately, there are still mountainous areas of North Carolina where internet service is not currently available but feel sure we can meet your internet needs with increased gigs and speed on our Hotspot.
As far as the drive up the mountain, it’s gorgeous 365 days a year, but it can be scary the first time you drive up. The last stint of your trip, approximately 1.5 miles will be on a narrow-packed gravel road, it’s a good road, but you’re driving up the side of the mountain and there are hair pin curves, it would be best to drive up before dark at least the first time. A front wheel drive is generally fine, my husband has a 2-wheel drive truck and I drive an AWD SUV, we have no problem. Our driveway is paved, and our cabin is built on the side of the mountain, so the driveway is very steep. Again, a little scary the first time you drive it, but no problem after that. If you’re staying during winter months, we do occasionally get inclement weather in the mountain’s higher elevations, a 4-wheel drive may be necessary if you’re stay is between December - February. If you do not feel it safe to drive, we’re happy to work with you to extend or shorten your stay.
Please be aware that our cabin is on the side of a mountain, we do NOT recommend our cabin if you have small children.
