Decades ago, a 5-member family Filipovic was living in a house with a flat roof. According to the tradition the roof was not to be made until the last son builds a house of his own. My father, Ivica, being the youngest of three children, was the last one to start a family…
As the time passed, he fell in love, moved with his wife to an apartment in Split and has soon became the father of 3 children himself. In the meantime, he started a graphical design company and has, together with his older (now deceased) brother, worked hard to support his family.
In that accelerated pace of adult life he has forgotten about the unwritten rule he was bond to…
… in 2006 our grandfather died. In that time of grief, all Ivica could think of was how, as a little boy he used to enjoy listening to his father telling him stories of when he fulfilled the tradition. The tradition that, with time, slipped too far in the back of his head. Since, Ivica, started to invest all his time, money and energy into building a house.
Although, in the beginning, his only objective was to keep the tradition alive, he fell in love with the process of designing and building and went way beyond building just one roof. With the help of his loved ones he has built, what we know today as Villa Lipopir – a vacation complex of approximately 550sqm and has saved no time on even the smallest details.
Love, unity and determination can be felt in each and every stone that, due to the lack of accessibility and ungrateful paths, was carried and shaped by hands of Ivica, his family and friends.
That undeniably hard and long journey is, when looking back at it, nothing but beautiful memories.
Now, we have an opportunity to share real Croatian experience with the tourists from all around the world and we enjoy every second of it.
