Very clean and mostly well stocked. Could use more toilet paper. It didn’t have very many lights making it difficult to read or do crafts. It has been very enjoyable regardless of the things mentioned. Very quiet and restful.

Thank you so much for the five star review! We’re so happy you enjoyed your stay at A Peaceful Retreat and found the cabin clean, quiet, and restful. We truly appreciate your feedback about the lighting and the need for additional toilet paper. We will definitely take a look at both of those things to make the Cabin even more comfortable for our guest. Thank you for choosing to stay with us and we would love to welcome you back to Wears Valley in the future!
The cleanest property I’ve ever stayed at. The hot tub was a delight. Well stocked kitchen and comfortable beds. Smaller than it appeared in the photos but quite adequate for our needs. I did end up whacking my head on the staircase as it extends out in to the living space. Enjoyed our stay.

Thank you Margaret, for your wonderful review. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay at A Peaceful Retreat and appreciated the cleanliness, hot tub, well-stocked kitchen, and comfortable beds.
We also appreciate your feedback regarding the staircase. Because of the cabin’s cozy mountain-cabin design, the stairway does extend slightly into the living area, and we will continue looking for ways to make guests more aware of this feature.
Thank you for choosing our cabin for your getaway. We were happy to host you and would love to welcome you back anytime you visit the Smoky Mountains.

Thanks Eric, these people are awesome guest, we had a issue in upstairs bathroom and it flooded bottom bathroom. They cleaned up the mess for us. And we're very understanding. Now we have new upstairs bathroom, all new and these guest are the best. God was good to us to have such “Christian People”.
We loved this peaceful private cabin. There were no occupants of the two cabins next to us. The cabin is clean and comfortable. Would stay again if we were to ever come back to the Great Smokey Mountains. Great Vacation. Definitely recommend.
The “Name” says it all.”A Peaceful Retreat” was built on the dream that people would feel like our cabin would be that. A place to getaway and enjoy Gods handiwork firsthand. Thanks Mitch
About the host
Hosted by Ted or Pam Ponville
“A Peaceful Place To Visit” The great Smokey Mountains National Park in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, is a peaceful place to visit. Looking through the eyes of nature the enjoyment and serenity of the forest is like a journey through space before entering the sacred gates of heaven. Blue hazy smoke drifts lazily over the mountain tops like a blanket protecting a sleepy town. Towards the east, slowly peeking over the horizon, the rising sun views the waking park and unfolds like a majestic answer to an artist’s dream. Vividly rushing creeks meander along winding mountain roads to form roaring waterfalls that seem to perish like the ends of the earth. Strolling through lush green forest, sweet chirping sounds float like a choir of angels singing.
This is proof that there is an almighty God and he does give you the desires of your heart. This was a paper I wrote in college in 1991, before we ever thought it was possible to achieve our dream of owning property. Pam & Ted Ponville
Why they chose this property
We came to the Great Smoky Mountains in 1977 for our honeymoon and fell in love with the area. Most of our family vacations were spent in this area. We always talked and dreamed of owning a log cabin one day and that dream became a reality.
What makes this property unique
Enjoying shopping for local crafts, outlet malls, antiques, & flea markets in the area. Plan a day to go ice skating at Ober in nearby Gatlinburg. We love to picnic in Cades Cove while enjoying nature & wildlife.
