Cool loft space in Old Montreal neighborhood

This two story loft apartment is in a great location by the water and old part of Montreal (just one block from the Notre Dame Cathedral). Easy walk to a metro stop. 3 of the 4 bedrooms are on the top floor of the building--under the roof line so the ceilings are sloped and would be low for a tall person. There is an elevator to both floors (and two internal staircases) so it is easy to get luggage up to the second floor rooms. The property manager is very responsive via email. You are provided a code to get into the building and the apartment so check-in is easy!

Perfect Location

This penthouse was the ideal location in Old Montreal, down the street from Notre Dame Cathedral and walkable to many amazing restaurants and shops. The host was very responsive and super helpful with any questions we had leading up to our stay. We had 8 adults with enough beds and bathrooms to accommodate everyone. The living space was perfect to hangout and recoup after a day of walking around town. I would definitely recommend this penthouse for groups looking for a great location and cozy place to stay while in Montréal.

Disappointed

This accommodation has so much potential being right in the heart of Old Montreal. Unfortunately it seems the property owner is not particularly interested in maintaining the property or engaging in regular communication with guests. The unit was untidy and under stocked when we arrived. The couches are falling apart and the floors have white that give the appearance of dirt. This very large unit had four wine glasses total, which was emblematic of the kitchen’s overall dishware. Water pooled in the dishwasher. There were no blinds in the main level bedroom. We left a pair of sunglasses when we left and tried to reach out to retrieve them but received little communication with the host. Overall, extremely disappointed by the experience and makes me question using VRBO in the future.

Great location, nice property

The location can’t be beat, walkable to everywhere in Old Montreal. The only reason I didn’t give a 5 star rating is that there are some essential items missing that would have made the stay more user friendly—no kitchen towels, only paper towels. Some bathrooms didn’t have face towels or washcloths, and the towels were poor quality. The downstairs bedroom had no curtains on the windows, as mentioned by another reviewer. These issues are inexpensive and could easily be fixed.

Great for location and size - okay for luxury.

Overall, we had a great time - thus the 4 star rating. The apartment was large and characteristic of an older downtown loft, so we had no problem with the structural quirks. However, for the price, it was not a “well appointed” apartment and had some issues that could easily be resolved with attention. Pros: 1) The apartment is located in the perfect spot and you can walk everywhere. 2) We felt very safe and secure and all the doors were code locked. 3) It was very quiet for being in the middle of “city sounds” and people out late. 4) It was generally clean (some furniture issues - see below). 5) It had a lot of room to spread out if you have a big group and it had ample seating. 6) The air/heat worked great. 7) The beds were comfortable. 8) The bathrooms were updated. 9) Quick and easy communication. Cons: 1) Downstairs bedroom had no drapes on the windows so we doubled up because no one wanted to stay in a room where everyone can see you sleeping and changing. 2) The window coverings in the other rooms were all broken or difficult to reach - so we had to “rig” the shades so the sun and the cold wouldn’t stream in. (Old windows so not great insulation). 3) The towels were scarce and cheap for the price of the apartment. 4) In the living room, the carpet had a big hole and the couch had huge stains that looked like pee stains. The sectional couch pieces were not attached so the couch didn’t fit together and it was not comfortable. So felt like for what we paid we didn’t want to sit on the main couch without feeling grossed out. 5) In the bathrooms - the water pressure was LOW and had some sloped ceilings in key places.
