On the ground floor the kitchen, dining and living room is drawn into a space around the stand in the center fire. Through a door man reaches the staircase, wardrobe and the bathroom.
From the well-equipped kitchen of the main entrance goes beyond the seat. From there, man has a great view of the mountains with the Fünffingerstöcke.
The upper floor has a bathroom and two bedrooms with floor-level beds. On the shelves there has books and board games.
In the basement is the cellar with a nice selection of wines from around the world. The wine cellar is open to guests (for a fee).
Just below the seat is the onsite parking. A second parking lot is in front of the house.

The Garielenhaus got its name from its former owners. The house, however, has a long history behind it, exactly when it was built is not known. The number before the House Heidenmauer is supposed to protect the defense work before the, over the Sustenpass coming, Heiden. Between the house and the opposite chapel The old mule trail to Wassen or over the Sustenpass runs up to Innertkirchen.
1981 was the building shortly before the total decay. There were still three exterior walls and a holey roof. the house has been restored through a complete renovation. The interior was convenient, comfortable and easily selected. A large fireplace with convection serves as central heating.
The house is four-season booking. Winters in Meiental are most very strict, and one to two feet of snow are not uncommon. Especially in this time of year the house exudes its coziness and is felt existentially.

A very nice house on a fabulous spot. The feel of a mountain cabine, but with all the modern facilities. A bit seventies in look and feel, but we enjoyed it very much. Nice owner, good communication.
Our family loved Rolf's place. The views were spectacular. The chalet cozy with a fire always burning. The upstairs was perfect for everyone to get a good night's sleep.
This is a good place to stay to enjoy the quiet and scenery. Close to fascinating passes to drive through.

Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
House is NOT the one as depicted in the main photo, completely different house shown, also very difficult to safely get in and out of the area to park.
Worst of all, the host was extremely rude, made up a lie claiming I had 5 people over to the house, and after I checked out was charged an extra $$$. This is a total scam / attempted extortion. I have disputed with my credit card company.
We had a great time and experience staying here. It’s located in a nice small peaceful village. We hit the slopes in Andermatt each day which is about a 25-30 min drive away. The place is well stocked and we were able to stay warm by the fire. Great accommodation! I can’t wait to stay here again.
There aren’t enough wonderful things to say about this place. The location, the views, the amenities in the house- everything was AMAZING. Loved seeing all the sheep and cows every morning, the views of the mountains and waterfalls right at our doorstep. This the perfect place to get away, disconnect and just be with your friends and/or your loved ones. We will definitely be returning!!!!
This is a wonderful place to get away and do nothing but enjoy your family. My family and I snowshoed, sledded and play games around a cozy fire. It was wonderful!
Highly recommend. It is an authentic Swiss mountain experience. The host, Rolf, was very attentive and available for questions. The place was stocked everything we needed from Fondue pots, foosball table, towels, and cellar with wine & beer! Hope to visit again in the future.
Very clean, very unique property. Rivers, waterfalls, mountains fields -perfection. Great communication with Rolf, no need to stock up on wine or beer. The drive over the Sustenpass and the local hikes are unbelievable.
Overall nice experience! Will come back in the future when possible. The scenery from front of house indeed is great! We like the bright bedrooms, but tall people might find the slooping ceilings a bit hard to navigate. We also like the experience of burning woods to heat up the house. However, in a nearby building, it seems a machine is running non stop and the sound borthered a couple of our family members.Suggestions: Kitchen: Replace the worn out pans. Maybe add stainless steel pans. The pans available were all with worn out non-sticks surfaces as far as we can tell. We were hesitant to use those pans. Add lids that actually fit the pots and pans. Fix the oven temperature issue.Living room: Add option for brighter light.
The views from the house are absolutely breathtaking. House feels like a right mountain cabin and the communication with the owner was good.
The only thing is that the listing doesn’t specify, that you have to clean the whole house yourself before you leave, which takes quite some time. Next time I would appreciate to know that ahead of time to count the time in. But it was ok and we had really good time.
The house is exactly as it's name and descriptions.
The neighborhood reminds us of "Heidi", the surrounding view is stunning and peaceful. We were so lucky to have bumped into our neighbors (80 sheeps)coming back from the mountain, it was one of the most unforgetable experience for both adults and kids.
Kitchen is well equipped, and there is a big bench at the front porch which we had our dinner there while enjoying the beautiful sceneries.
The host has a big wine collection at the basement which is super convenient to us, and the host's charges are exceptionally reasonable.
The few drawbacks are that the bathrooms are a bit too dark for us and one of the bedroom got no proper door, plus there is a cleaning fee to be paid unless you reinstate the whole place as it original status.
Overall, it is still a place we would highly recommend, a real memorable stay.

We will return!
If there is ever a place in the world that truly TAKES YOUR BREATH away it is out the front door of this home. I cannot believe what the location had in store. The home is only the tip of the iceberg. It was well equipped with everything we needed including a baby crib, mattress protectors and crib sheets. There is no dryer so things must be line dried outside (or inside by the fire when cold) but it added to the atmosphere of slowing down and appreciating life. Rolf met us and showed us thru the house and how to operate anything. He provided detailed lists of emergency contacts, his own POC, travel guides and info on the area. We stayed for the first few days in June and I cannot imagine how any other time could be better. It was breezy, warm and flowers were in bloom all over the hills. The sound of the river a few hundred feet from the cabin was serene and majestic. We have lived in Hawaii but for us this was paradise and the most beautiful place we've been. If the home description meets your family needs prepare to have your senses overloaded with awe when you actually are there. One tip I'd add for anyone is to be aware stores close early and most are not open Sundays. The nearest grocery store for basic provisions and a bit pricey is in Wassen about 10 min away. We had a family of 6 and needed a bit more and the next grocery store in size is in Altdorf about 30 min away. No matter how tired you may be GET GROCERIES first so you don't have to go back out. You won't want to anyway it's so pretty. Also, if you like to hike head deeper into Sustenpass to find a small parking lot on your right with a massive rock with "SEWEN" painted on it. You can hike about 80 min up to find a mountain top hut with drinks for all ages, snacks and a break from your hike. We didn't have time to do it but discovered it too late. We wanted to explore another region and decided not to bc what's out the front door was beyond enough. About 1.5 miles down the valley (toward Wassen) was a little playground of you have kids and the dirt rd thru fields of flowers and cows and sheep with bells on was perfect for all ages. We had a 7mos old, 2 yr old, 4 and 7 yr old and all did great. If you are debating whether or not to hit 'book'.... you WON'T be disappointed. If you want to be closer to cities and tourism look elsewhere. This takes you off the grid enough to feel the pace of life slow but still with full wifi access and oddly had great service everywhere (Tmobile)

Gern wieder.
We had a great time in the chalet.
The location in the middle of the mountains is exceptional and exactly what we needed.
The chalet itself very cozy and well equipped.
