About this property

Lakeside Manor Cooperstown; Very Private. Tennis

Lakeside Manor is a rambling country house on the water at the end of a private road on the shore of Otsego Lake. On 4 acres with 450 feet of shoreline, a 75' dock and tennis court are at the doorstep*. The yard rolls down to the water's edge and a path leads past the hammock and fire pit to the dock. Bald Eagles, Golden Eagles and Osprey fly overhead and fish in the water off-shore. Lazy days and campfire nights brightened by fireflies and the Milky Way. You will forget the rest of the world.

Lakeside Manor has been in the same family for 130 years. A year long renovation has married the home's history with the modern and polished this gem of a house. Organic cotton bedding, polished fixtures, refinished antiques and new furnishings fill the house there is room for a large family or a gathering of friends. Summertime and the living's easy.

The entire property with the exception of the garage is available to our guests.

Minutes to Cooperstown yet world's away; A short walk to a historic 9 hole golf course which is open for play and very kid friendly, swimming, boating, cycling, lawn and court games. Evening fires by the waterside, campfire games and s'mores. A dream location and a dream vacation.

Plenty of parking on the property for our guests and just a twenty minute ride of incredibly scenic roads to Cooperstown.

Read through the following, you'll learn about the amenities and what you may consider bringing or renting when you get here.

The first things you'll see:

The classic front porch welcomes summer travelers, the benches say sit awhile and enjoy the quiet. The tennis court is just over there to the south and the waterfront opens to a huge view to the west. Sunsets and Stars.

The entry hall and a room for your flip flops and hooks for your hats. It's all you'll need.

The brand new, open kitchen and dining room with its huge lake view, 10' custom dining table and chairs, new appliances, tools, utensils, dishware, glassware (everything, you get it) is casual summertime living.

The deck just outside the kitchen door has dining and the view. The new 3 burner Weber gas grill is ready for whatever your grilling heart desires. Easy summer days, easy summer meals, easy summer friends.

The living room feels large even with the grand piano, hopefully you have a musician or two in your crowd. A 50" Smart TV for the rare occasion you want to flop back for a movie, but more likely a summer read on the couches or wing chair. Books to read and games to play. Naps to take. It is all here waiting.

You will bed down in organic cotton sheets and silk filled duvets on brand new beds and mattresses. The bedding style is European, a duvet for each person, no top sheet. Silky and cool on your summer skin. With views over the lake, to the mountain or over the trees every bedroom is bright and large and has blackout blinds for sleeping in. Or maybe you like to wake up with the birds. Whatever you like, it is your summer.

The Porch Suite overlooking the lake on the main floor is a queen room with a custom bathroom. Very cool.

Upstairs the Tree Room and the Mountain Room are king rooms, each with private full bath and plenty of closet space.

The Lake Suite includes the Lake Room looking west to sunset over the water with its queen bed; the Garden Room with two twins and the Lake Suite bathroom that is shared. It is the perfect set up for a family with younger kids but is easily shared by adults as each bedroom is separate and private.

Lots of closet space, extra linens and cleaning supplies if you need them, an iron and board, hairdryers and a safe for whatever you'd like to keep locked up. All right there; simple, nice.

We provide beach towels, a cooler, a canoe with paddles (and two extra for the little ones) and lifejackets: 1 infant, 2 child, 1 youth, 4 adults and 4 throw cushions.

You will want to bring: Tennis Rackets. Water shoes, a must. A book to read. Board Games? Floating toys?

You may consider renting kayaks, paddle boards, a motor boat. Look up Jones Marine for motor boats (the best boats and service) and Canoe and Kayak Rentals and Sales for SUP and kayaks and canoes of course.

*PLEASE NOTE: During the shoulder season (Mid Oct - Beginning of May) the tennis net, patio furniture, and BBQ Grill canoe & dock are stored away.

We Appreciate: Shoes off inside, helps preserve the original floors. Placemats and trivets to protect the sweet new, custom dining table. Use the umbrella to shade the outdoor dining! Cover the Umbrella when closed:) Dry the life jackets and equipment before stowing in the deck closet. (You'll want an outdoor closet like this at your house). The Rain Chain is really fun to watch during a storm; Please don't attempt to climb or swing from it, it will break.

WiFi: There's a 400 Mbit connection coming into the house and two 802.11ac access points provide that reliable Internet access.

Electric Car Charging: There's also a 50 Amp 220 V NEMA 14-50 outdoor outlet by the parking area. Bring your own level 2 adapter and quickly charge your Tesla, Nissan Leaf, Chevy Bolt, or other electric car.

Lovely home
The house is quite large and accommodating. 5 bedrooms with 4 full bathrooms was just right for our large extended family. The kitchen is enormous and well stocked with pots/pans/dishes/silverware, etc. We stayed in late November so didn't get much outside time but the property is very nice and well maintained. Excellent view from the kitchen of the lake. The house is very secluded and the road in is a bit tricky so be sure to follow the instructions given by the managing agency. Would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful house and property
The house and the whole property was amazing. We couldn’t have asked for a better spot for our 3 families to stay while our kids were playing at Dreams park. We swam, canoed, played tennis, fished, and enjoyed the incredibly peaceful lake and surroundings. The kitchen had everything we needed and the beds were comfortable. Just perfect!!

Lovely
Absolutely gorgeous place, inside and out. The home is stunning. It has a really nice layout and was very comfortable for our group, ages 4 to 84. The kitchen was well stocked and set up in a way that made sense. The views from every angle were beautiful. Everyone had comfortable rooms and slept well. We enjoyed sitting around the large dining table, playing card games in the living room, and playing piano. As for outside activities, it was wonderful! We loved playing tennis (courts right there), canoeing across the lake, and relaxing on the deck. We also loved the historic houses and other activities in the general area. It’s a very friendly, beautiful area. So special. A few notes: the fire pit area is pretty small; you’d have to be sitting in the unmown grass to have a fire. We brought wood but opted not to use it. Relatedly, tick checks are important in this region. We found several tiny ticks on the kids. (Which we know to look for given our active outdoorsy lifestyle. This is in no way a criticism of the house. Just a reminder for other guests to do their checks!). We love birds and wildlife in general and found our experience at the house so refreshing. Highly recommend.

Pictures didn't do the house justice
We enjoyed a wonderful weekend with our children and grandchildren. The house had many areas for us to read and chat when it was raining. What a thoughtfully, and fully stocked kitchen. It was great.
