Long Lake Lakehouse - Private Vacation Paradise!

The LAKEHAUS is an exceptional home located on Long Lake just outside Traverse City with 128' feet of waterfront to spend your lake vacation. Long Lake, an all sports lake is one of the most popular lakes in the area just a few miles from Traverse City. Long Lake is quite large and allows all types of watercraft. There are 5 islands throughout the lake to visit and explore and there is fantastic fishing on Long lake. Long Lake is in high demand because it is the largest inland lake nearest to Traverse City. Downtown Traverse City is about 10 miles away. We include use of 2 Kayaks and 2 SUP's for your use with signed waiver prior to your visit.

The LAKEHAUS has a large expansive deck literally hanging out over the water with lots of seating and lounge chairs to relax on, a gas grill, gas firepit table and a private dock for your water toys, including a volleyball net right in the water! This home features a large natural fire pit surrounded by Adirondack chairs that overlooks Long Lake for relaxing with a glass of wine at the end of your day.

Interior of the home:

Indoors you find an expansive wall of windows view of Long Lake. Vaulted ceilings above and hardwood floors beneath are filled with natural light and stunning views. The living area has plenty of seating for your family, with views of the lake, a natural stone gas insert fireplace and a flat screen TV for entertainment on a rainy day (heaven forbid). The living area opens into the dining area that houses a table and chairs for 8 guests with additional seating at the kitchen island on the stools. The large kitchen is stocked with all of your cooking needs for serving your family a fine meal and plenty of storage for your food items. FYI: WE ARE CURRENTLY COMPLETING A FULL RENOVATION OF THE KITCHEN INCLUDING LAYOUT, NEW APPLIANCES, ETC. SHOULD BE FULLY COMPLETE BY MAY 2026. VRBO PICTURES WILL BE UPDATED AT THAT TIME. CURRENT PICTURES ARE FOR THE KITCHEN FROM 2025. The main floor also has a full bath to use, as well as a full size washer and dryer. All of your linens (except beach towels) are included for your convenience.

The upper bedroom level is open and boasts more spectacular views of Long Lake from the Master bedroom. A fabulous way to wake up in the morning! Featuring a King size bed and a private Newly Renovated (2023) En Suite Master Bathroom with dual sinks, frames glass shower with rain head. The 2nd bedroom includes 2 queen size beds and also has a private En Suite Bathroom.

The 3rd Bedroom is located in the basement and was newly added as a legal bedroom. This large bedroom has a queen bed, large streaming Sony TV and large closet. The Powder Room that has a full shower on the main floor is the bathroom that is used by guests in the basement bedroom.

Exterior:

128' of Private lake frontage in a pristine wooded setting. Enjoy the quiet of your surroundings! Ahhhhh!!!! Listen to the loons in the morning on the deck with your coffee, or sit by the waters edge and toss in a fishing line to catch some great local fish.

The yard has a nice open area great for playing games (provided) such as the popular corn hole, ladder ball and badminton. The fire pit is perfect for making s'mores and sharing together time. The deck features a large dining table/chairs as well as a gas grill for outdoor dining and lounge chairs are available for napping or sunning yourself.

Other Things to Note:

The area hosts many activities; including the National Cherry Festival and other local festivals, Michael Moore`s Film Festival, arts and craft shows, concerts in the park, casino`s, wineries, Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes (a must), performances at the widely acclaimed Interlochen Center for the Arts and the downtown Opera House; you`re certain to stay busy.

Set on idyllic Long Lake - an all sports lake just minutes from downtown Traverse City with Crystal Mountain Ski Resort a short drive, this retreat promises a memorable stay Up North!

Our home rents generally on a minimum weekly basis from SATURDAY - SATURDAY during prime summer weeks unless the calendar allows for an alternate reservation schedule. All reservations must be approved and we require a signed separate Rental Agreement provided following booking.

Super comfortable and relaxing stay

We had a wonderful stay at the Lakehaus. The house is beautiful and the views of the lake from inside the house are beautiful. We really appreciated the well-equipped kitchen. The beds are very comfortable. We made good use of the kayaks and stand-up paddle boards. The owner was very nice and communicated well with us leading up to our stay and continuing throughout our stay. We were 100% satisfied with our lake house vacation in the Lakehaus.

Beautiful Lakehouse

We enjoyed our stay at the Lakehouse on Long Lake. It was spotless, well equipped, and cozy on a cold and damp fall weekend. We were greeted with a lovely basket containing a bottle of wine and items to make s'mores, and we enjoyed the warmth and glow of the fireplace. The views are amazing and the area is quiet and peaceful. We plan to visit again next summer!

Great house - Great view

We have vacationed in this area for several years. We have rented often through VRBO. This is the smallest property, but it was so well maintained! The house was warm and inviting and the host added special touches to make it very comfortable. The view was awesome! Sunrises were spectacular and we had everything we could possibly need. Would return in a heartbeat!

We enjoyed our seven day stay at the Lakehaus on Long Lake. The home is so light and comfortable and the grounds are very well maintained. We relaxed on the wonderful deck and used the firepit in the evening while we enjoyed some of the local wines. The kitchen was very well appointed. It was a pleasure to use the grill and enjoy some fine meals with our friends. Paul, the owner was in touch via text during our stay and he wanted to make sure everything was just right for our stay. Our stay was wonderful and I'm missing Long Lake.

Gorgeous Home in Fantastic Location

It was such a treat to stay at Paul's gorgeous home on Long Lake. The house is exceptionally beautiful- especially the master bedroom and bath. We enjoyed leisurely afternoons on the comfy deck overlooking the lake. The lake itself is calm with a mostly sandy bottom. The fire pit was also wonderful - with a view of the lake and plenty of seating. Paul provided all the amenities we needed and was available via text if we needed anything. I highly recommend staying at the Lake Haus. We look forward to returning in the future.

Family Celebration

Our extended family of 8 thoroughly enjoyed our opportunity to spend time together to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday and 2 members who were in from Germany. The location, beauty, lake access and amenities could not have been more perfect for our gathering. From beautiful sunrises and kayaking to bonfires and easy access to so many great sites, this beautiful home away from home is by far my favorite to date. Beautiful lake front retreat

This property is absolutely wonderful! It is open, spacious, and right on the water at amazing Long Lake. We had breathtaking views of the sunrise every morning and enjoyed the deck in the evening. It is extremely well furnished for guests and beautifully decorated. The bedrooms are large and have very comfortable beds with high quality linens. The location is ideal for exploring Leelanau Peninsula and the wineries at Mission Peninsula. We enjoyed delicious meals at several the restaurants recommended by the owners. This is a home we would love to return to! The owner was very quick to respond to our questions and left a delightful gift basket for us to enjoy!

Great Lake Getaway

This house was amazing and had great access to Long Lake. We were able to use the kayak and SUPs on Long Lake for the sunny day in September. The house was clean and had every amenities you may need during your stay. The house was only about 25 minutes from Traverse City which made it easy to get into the city for food and drinks. Paul was a great host. He communicated very clearly and promptly. I would recommend the Lakehaus for anyone wanting a nice relaxing getaway with beautiful lake views and access in a comfortable and spacious house.

Perfect Vacation Retreat, Highly Recommend!

We had an amazing stay at the Lakehaus! The home has spectacular views of the lake whether sitting on the dock enjoying the sunrise or sitting inside with the expansive windows. The kitchen has everything you need to make delicious meals to enjoy on the deck. The fire pit was the perfect way to enjoy the evenings. The home is clean with spacious bedrooms and comfortable beds. The location is great for a scenic drive to the many towns along the Leelanau peninsula, wineries, breweries, and downtown Traverse City. The owner, Paul, was readily available to answer questions and went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. We are already planning our next stay at the home. Relaxation at its finest

The property on Long Lake was absolutely beautiful. The pictures on the profile truly do not give this place justice. The house itself was very clean, plenty of bedding, towels, supplies, anything we could have needed was available. The location was great as it was close to Traverse City and just a short drive to Leeland and the other beautiful small towns. The lake water is shallow enough to be able to play volleyball, badminton, or play on the Lily Pad. Communication with the owners was exceptional. I would definitely recommend this place and I would definitely stay again!!!

Beautiful rental with an amazing beachfront - perfect for families

We had a wonderful time at the Lakehaus. The home itself felt like home, we honestly wish we could have spent multiple weeks there. The beachfront at the lake is so great for kids. The sand is soft, and there's plenty of shallow water for the kids to play in. We really appreciated Paul & family sharing their lake toys with us. The beds are comfortable, the home is spacious, and very clean. The home honestly had everything we needed to allow us to just enjoy our time on this wonderful lake. We hope to stay again! Our only wishlist item would be space at the dock to park any boat we rent, but we made do with the mooring. Thanks again for sharing your home with us!

Shhh Don't Tell Anyone

This is the best property we have had the pleasure of staying at. Paul is a wonderful host. He communicates well, so you know precisely what to do. He also knows the area and has good connections with local businesses, which enhanced our stay. The kitchen is large and well-equipped. All the rooms are big, especially the master, and the ensuite is gorgeous. Regarding the location, there are not enough words to describe the beauty of Long Lake. Sandy bottoms near the shore and great fishing. It has something for everyone. Close to Travers City, Moomers Ice Cream, and Vineyards. We hope to make this an annual trip.

Great waterfront vacation

Our extended family of 7 had a great experience at Lakehaus. The home was well-maintained, well-equipped, clean and spacious comfortable. It has a great view of Long Lake, with a large expanse of 3’ to 4’ deep crystal clear water right off the dock. We rented a pontoon boat from Rick White at UpNorthBoatRentals.com (delivered right to our dock) and got in plenty of fishing, as well as exploring the nearby islands. The property has a nice dock, although if you rent or bring your own boat, you need to wade out to an adjacent anchor point. The location is great since everything we love to do in northern Michigan is within 30-45 minutes. Paul, thanks for being a great communicator.

Long LakeHaus 2023

Friends of mine from the University of Michigan took a weekend up north and spent it at Paul's lovely home outside of Traverse City, and it was nothing short of spectacular. From the loons on the lake in the early morning as we enjoyed the sunrise from his deck, to the islands dotting the crystal clear water of the lake itself, to his spacious and clean home, we were able to relax, unwind, and enjoy time together. If you ever have the chance to stay with Paul, I would highly recommend the experience. He was very responsive an accommodating, leaving us a lovely welcome basket and allowing us to check out a few hours later than scheduled. Thanks again for a memorable trip, Paul!

Perfect Vacation

Everything at the house was perfect, the welcome basket with s’mores fixings was a nice and appreciated touch. The toys for water and land were nice. The lake is beautiful and the loons in the morning and evening are wonderful to listen to. The house is clean and has everything you need to just bring your clothes and some food and enjoy your vacation. Don’t hesitate to get some pizza at Long Lake grocery, our boys really liked the Chicken, Bacon, Ranch. Found several Petoskey stones at the house and around some of the several islands on the lake. I didn’t want to review the house because I wanted to save the gem for myself and future vacations, but everything was perfect so I had to. Paul answered any and all questions quickly and communication was top notch. Don’t hesitate to spend a week here you won’t regret it.

Exceeded our Expectations! Stunning view!

Our stay at the Lakehaus was superb! The owner went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed, the house had everything we needed and was very clean. You can literally pack your clothes and go! The location is fantastic and the views are breathtaking. You have many options for activities and day trips within a half hour or you can enjoy your days on Long Lake so you get the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. We all agree that this was our best trip up north! Most impactful to us is that the house felt like a home and we were able to enjoy life very comfortably for a week in a gorgeous setting! Highly recommend! Extras: The owner had a lovely welcome basket waiting for us with wine and s’mores fixings. There was firewood available to easily make a fire in the beautiful fire pit. Our girls thoroughly enjoyed using the lily pad and volleyball net. The dock set up with the chairs is perfect to enjoy the lake views and be able to keep an eye on children in the water. The rooms are spacious and the kitchen is well-stocked and large. We loved being able to grill and cook meals on the couple nights we did not eat out. The game closet was a huge hit for us and we made many memories playing games each night and watching the boats. The location offered a lot of privacy as well and the deck was awesome.

The Lakehaus

Beautiful peaceful lake. This house is amazing, great views, clean and kitchen supplied with everything you need. Close to everything, made a trip to Glen Arbor and hit some breweries on the way to Traverse City for dinner. Paul was so accommodating and left great information on things to do in the area. We spent many of our days on the lake and enjoyed evenings by the fire pit. The house was stocked with games that everyone would enjoy. House was very clean and Paul even left us a welcome basket.

Exceeded our expectations

Our family had a wonderful week-long stay at this beautiful home. We were expecting the home and view to be nice, but we were so pleasantly surprised that it far exceeded our expectations. The location is great for visiting so many areas. We went to Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City, Chrystal Lake, Empire Beach, Fishtown, Sutton's Bay and Old Mission Penisula. Some days we just stayed at the house and enjoyed Long Lake. Even on the days we ventured away, we were sure to have morning coffee on the dock with the neighborhood loons and ducks, and evenings on the dock, enjoying the sunsets. The beds were very comfortable and the water pressure in the showers was very good. The kitchen is large and very well stocked; we were able to have many great meals from foods we picked up at farmer's markets. Communication with Paul was superb, and the treats waiting for us when we arrived were fantastic! We will be back! Thank you Paul and family.

We were new to Long Lake and purchased here in 2021. I grew up in Michigan and we have lived in 3 different states with Michigan by far our favorite. We enjoy outdoor activities such as biking, hiking and exploring. The winery and brewery tours are also favorites. We love all of the festivals that Traverse City hosts throughout the summer, and highly recommend attending if one is in town. The summer Farmer's Market is a Saturday morning must. Traverse City also is a fantastic restaurant town so if you enjoy great restaurants, the Traverse City area has some wonderful restaurants with outstanding food and views.

We have fallen in love with Long Lake and are excited to share our home with you. Our focus is family, friends, and good times. We hope you enjoy it too.

Why they chose this property

We immediately fell in love with this property from the moment we walked in and saw the gorgeous views of Long Lake through the huge wall of windows. Having access to Long Lake just steps from the house and the deck hanging out over the water was so very appealing. The hard, sandy lake bottom is shallow near the house so we can easily swim and enjoy the water. We love to drink our coffee on the deck in the morning and finish the day almost every night with a relaxing fire including s'mores at night. The sound of Loons is so calming and fishing off the dock is a favorite family pastime.
