Our cottage is a quaint 'up North' family cottage, on Tawas Lake. We’re licensed through East Tawas’s short term rental ordinance. There are two bedrooms, and a sofa bed to sleep six. One bedroom has a sturdy set of bunk beds (adults can use them, but please limit the weight on the upper bunk!), and the other bedroom has a very comfortable queen sized bed. The couch in the living room has a queen sized pull-out sofa bed.
The kitchen is modern, has a nice stove and 'fridge, and is furnished with oak cabinets. Pots, pans, dishes, silverware, and more are there for you to use. There is a Keurig coffee maker, toaster, and a microwave oven. There is a nice oak dining room set. This is a pleasant setting for a family dinner.
There are windows around the exterior walls in the living room looking out over the lake. There is a deck overlooking the lake with a wrought iron table set and sun loungers. You can dine looking at the lake, or relax on the loungers and get a tan! There is a small deck on the street side, so if the wind is blowing in across the lake, you can enjoy your coffee there. There is a Cedar swing in the yard, and a pair of chairs perfect for watching the sun go down. Sunsets over the lake can be quite spectacular!
There is a dock and row boat available for your use. Life jackets, oars, and if you need it, instruction on how to use it all are available. The idea is to bring your fishing rods and have an enjoyable time on the lake. You'll catch fish right off the dock. There is a patio and picnic table with a charcoal grill beside the lake. This is a perfect spot for a family picnic under the shade of an Oak tree. In the evening you can make s'mores!
The town of East Tawas is a mile away on the shore of Lake Huron. The beaches there are wonderful sandy, and clean. There is a State of Michigan shelter harbor there. You can walk the dock, looking at the big boats, eating an ice cream cone on a sunny summer day! There is a lighthouse on Tawas Point, a couple of miles from the cottage. You can visit the State park on the point, and enjoy the sandy beaches there, too.
The Huron National Forrest is a few miles West. You can tour Lumberman's Monument, the AuSable River, and all the natural features of the area. In the summer you can you can use your side-by-side on the trails, and in the winter, there are miles of snowmobile trails throughout the forest. There are lots of things to do within a few miles of the cottage.
We encourage family enjoyment. House rules: no drug use, no smoking anything in the cottage. A family enjoyed the cottage before your visit, and another will arrive after you. We ask that you keep the cottage nice and safe for everyone to enjoy! The Golden Rule applies!
