This secluded Caribbean cottage is tucked into the hillside on the quieter south side of St. John and offers panoramic mountain views of the surrounding National Park. It is within easy walking distance to many of St. John's best beaches and hiking trails. The interior of the cottage offers comfortable accommodations with a queen-size bed that sleeps two and a fully equipped kitchen and bath. The large covered porch provides spacious outdoor living and dining areas with a grill and daybed.
A queen bed with fresh linens is situated in the main room when you arrive. A full kitchen with all the amenities needed cook from home and enjoy the view. A bathroom with a walk in shower, fresh towels, bodywash/shampoo, and hairdryer is all provided.
The covered outdoor patio is the best place to soak in the views, we have also provided a sugar bird feeder with sugar if your a bird lover. We have full size day bed that is perfect for taking a nap or can even sleep a 3rd/4th guest. There is also a grill for cooking along with couch and a table for relaxing and enjoying the National Park mountain views.
Its decidedly Caribbean design and decor, along with its incomparable National Park setting, make it the perfect vacation choice for those seeking the peace and tranquility of a true island getaway.
We are located on the furthest side away from the ferry on which you will arrive. We STRONGLY suggest renting a car.
Some of the nearby beaches and bays that are within walking distance;
-Salt Pond beach (one of the more popular beaches on St John) is 0.25 miles away
-Kiddel Bay is 0.5 miles away
-Grootpan bay is 0.5 miles away
-Great Lameshur beach 0.8 miles away
-Little Lameshur beach is 1 mile away
With the second bed being on the covered outdoor patio we suggest if there is going to be a 3rd/4th guest they are ok with a more outdoorsy style stay.

We had a blast staying 3 nights in this remote island paradise. The salt pond beach is a quick walk down the street and the peace of looking at the undeveloped hillsides in the evening can't be understated. Bill is very friendly and willing to give recommendations. All amenities you need are provided.
Cute comfortable cottage on the quiet side of the island near Salt Pond Bay and Coral Bay. It has two beds- both really comfortable - one in the kitchen and one on the porch. Insects not a problem with fans and a mosquito net outside. Beautiful view. Bananaquits at the feeder every morning were a delight. So comfy and easy. 4WD a must to explore all the beaches, but you can see many without it. Don't miss Thursday open Mic at Miss Lucy's and Skinny Legs. (We can't decide on or favorite beach), Bill, Emily and baby Lilli were so friendly and responsive!!
This was our second time at the cottage, and it was even better than the first. Really a perfect little cabin for two with a great bed, comfortable porch, and beautiful view. Lots of great touches: a record player and games, very good local books, beach gear and towels, beautiful lights at night. There were 3 beaches within a 10 minute walk including popular Salt Pond, and secluded Kiddle and Grootpan. Swimming, hiking, and snorkeling were our favorites! Excellent kitchen for cooking with great fish and meat from Calabash, and amazing fresh vegetables from Josephine's. We did leave this corner of St. John sometimes, but didn't need to, and really relaxed in our quiet piece of paradise. Such generous hosts. Thank you!
Far away from crowds/ drive to tree tops/ hike to private bay
Seeking a real St. Johns experience -not a crowded hotel - my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Lameshur cottage on the hillside. The owner was very helpful; he and his wife have worked hard to create a charming cottage (along with camper accomodations below) on the far south side of St. John near Salt Bay Pond. We brought food to cook as grocery store in Coral Bay was a distance away. Everything was there for meal preparation and we dined on the porch over looking a valley and a salt pond with flamingos flying in. This is what we enjoy and the banana birds and hummingbirds and quiet. We are hikers so the two flights of stairs to reach the cottage was no problem. A 4 w drive (I suggest small, not largest ) (everyone had 4 wheel drive rented ahead in Cruz Bay) is required. We drive from cottage short distance to hike down to lovely private Salt Pond Bay within the National Park with snorkling and hike to Ram's Head point. Driving the left side of the road from the west side of island was somewhat crazy around hair pin turns. We returned by the north road by Annaberg plantation and by the crowded but exquisite Maho Bay and Trunk Bay and Cinnamon Bay back to Cruz Bay to return rental by ferry. Owner had beach and snorkling equipment available. Books in the cottage included indigenous trees and plants seen from our porch and on a long hike from Big Lameshur Bay (where we left the jeep) along the National park Reef Bay trail to the Taino Petroglyphs.
Really enjoyed my stay. The hosts were super nice and beyond helpful. It was super nice being right up the road from Salt Pond Beach. You’re on the less crowded side of the island so you get to see a lot of wildlife which I loved. My only suggestion is if you stay here you almost have to rent a car.
Thank you so much Bill, Emily & Lily!! We thoroughly enjoyed your beautiful, comfortable, unique, open air cottage! The breezes off the ocean and hillsides were lovely. We especially enjoyed the blast from the past by sipping our coffee while listening to 70’s lp’s on the retro turntable! The Bananaquits, frogs & geckos (?) were quite entertaining too! The proximity to Salt Pond Bay for swimming & snorkeling as well as near by restaurants made for a perfect spot to spend a few days on St. John Island!!
If you’re looking for awesome hosts with a great locale, look no further! We loved the property and the recommendations which helped us make the most of our stay. Excellent experience!
Loved this little cabin outside of town - worked well for access to Salt Pond and Lameshur Bay. Owner was great with communication. Rustic but cozy, had all needed amenities.

Beautiful location. Make sure you get a car rental before staying here, otherwise lots of walking and trip coordination with bus.

Bill was an amazing host, so gracious. I loved the architecture of the cottage we stayed in. Many additional amenities beyond a typical room. The old vinyl disc player and outside bed were favourites. Plus this location is close to some hidden beaches and even a nice barbeque restaurant that serves a great brisket. It's a half hour drive from the bustle of the bar side of the island, perfect for a nice, quiet time. I definitely recommend without hesitation.
Cottagey wonderfulness! This was a unique experience for my husband and me, which we really enjoyed. Super location so close to Great and Little Lameshur Bays, and to Salt Pond so made visiting these locations during our stay a breeze. Very clean and well accommodated place with lots and lots to make your stay convenient. Nice communication with owners prior to stay.
Great studio cabin that was comfortable, peaceful and had everything we needed for our week. Bill and Emily were great hosts, fun to talk with and offered suggestions on everything from beaches for snorkeling to places to eat. Walking distance to Salt Pond Bay and if you’re up to the trek: Groupon that had the best sea life and Kiddle the second best. We took our jeep to both and were often the only people there! It is Not a resort or a hotel it is a remote cabin with a glamping vibe!
Cute studio cottage with all the amenities. Rustic and close to the National Park. Not a villa in site! Walking distance to Salt Pond Bay and Lameshure Bays and the Petroglyph trail to Reef Bay. Very sweet and quiet and away from all the hubbub of Cruz Bay. Miss Lucy's and Auqua Bistro are a few minutes away. All the best of St John.

Our Private Hide Away
A perfect cottage for two... Clean with a complete kitchen, screened in porch and covered deck.
Actual cottage better than the photos. The cottage is on the south east side of St. John so you need a vehicle to get to the major beaches. We loved nearby little Lameshur Bay... very few people, great beach and snorkling. Hit the Sunday Brunch at Concordia and have fun at the Skinny Legs Bar in Coral bay... Hidden treasure... meet Ester at the "Pink Corner" in Coral Bay for Barbeque.
We will be back.

Cozy cottage in beutifull Coral bay
Russ & Liz do a super job. Always there for you. Nice breeze, Feel like you're tucked into a mountain. Highlight was Ram's Head hike. (pictures just don't do it justice) Beaches = off the charts. Have to suggest "Barefoot Cowboy Lounge" in Cruz Bay, & "Aqua Bistro" in Coral Bay. We really enjoyed the "Quieter" side of the island. Thanx, Capecodders

The cottages at Lameshur are quite unique. The cottages are on an isolated road on the east side of St John, down the road from Coral Bay. The cottage is a bit eclectic, but it has the convenience of a clean bathroom and WI-FI. There’s a nice beach walking distance from the cottage. The only drawback, since the toilet is attached to a septic tank, you can’t flush toilet paper down the drain. I loved staying at Lameshur and listening to the wind and wildlife while sleeping in the cottage.

About the host

My wife Emily and I moved from Connecticut to St. John USVI in May of 2020. We really enjoy the location of the cottages since we are surrounded by National Park hiking trails and world class beaches with in walking distance. We can be found hiking or snorkeling all around the island, or at our favorite local Coral Bay restaurants.
