Beautiful Unit
The unit itself is immaculate and couldn't be nicer. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the lack of privacy and level of activity at the property. The owner lives on site (which is fine) but the amount of other people milling around working on a project in the garage directly below our unit (until late at night) was not something that we expected. Like I said, the unit is fantastic and the owner couldn't be nicer but it's not as private as I thought it would be.

Couldn’t have been more lovely
If you’re looking to enjoy all that Harpers Ferry has to offer, stop and book this listing now. I cannot gush enough over every aspect of this clean, thoughtfully cultivated property. Christie and her merry band of four legged companions are treasures in their own right and I can’t wait to return. A sensational weekend!

About the host

I moved to Harpers Ferry six years ago, together with my partner, Juan. We are both professional artists. We fell in love with our 1 1/2 acre property right in the heart of historic Harper’s Ferry and wanted to do something with the land besides building houses on it, so we started our lavender farm four years ago. We really love hiking, biking on the towpath, and walking in town.

When Covid 19 hit, we temporarily changed our focus from art shows to hosting on our small lavender farm. It has been such a success and pleasure, that we just opened our sister property down the street -The Trouvaille House - built in 1837. Updated into four luxury suites! A trouvaille is a treasure or lucky find, and we certainly feel that way about both of our places!

We have a welcoming committee at La Soledad waiting to greet you! Busta and Blu are two energetic, goofy puppies that play outside daily. Romeo is our very friendly cat that keeps an eye on them!

Why they chose this property

We are on 1 1/2 riverfront acres within the limits of the historic town of Harpers Ferry. It is exactly a one mile walk to the convergence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers, as well as the Appalachian Trail! You do not need a car to go to wonderful local restaurants and coffee shops. (Come on the train! Or park your car here and walk!) There is plenty of Civil War history here and lots to see and learn at the Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. We have three different rafting companies in town, and two rivers to raft, or just float on inner tubes! The Appalachian Trail Conservancy is just down the street, and the trail comes right through town. If you are into something a little more relaxed, we are surrounded by many local wineries and breweries just a short distance away!

What makes this property unique

Totally private and stand-alone guesthouse. Use of the beautiful, private grounds overlooking the Potomac River, including grill and outdoor dining gazebo. Awesome fire pit overlooking the river. Hammock and outdoor swing to watch the sunsets and the bright evening stars!
