I was excited to stay near the beach and picked this hotel given the high ratings. Unfortunately, when my flight came in in the evening and I drove to the location and had to reach out multiple times to the owner to get the code to be let in. This was finally resolved within 30 minutes. The picture of the room inside is accurate. I was surprised to find the bedding unkept. A few of the pillows, especially one in particular were stained. They were covered with a pillowcase but no protector so could see the dirt. Both beds had a plastic mattress cover and one was ripped on the side. Collectively, this made me feel uncomfortable that I was not sleeping in a clean bed. I reached out to the owner. She asked for pictures and I sent. I requested a cancellation because I did not feel this was satisfactory to sleep in. She would not cancel and offered one free night. While this was a nice gesture, I honestly felt grossed out by it and requested a full cancelation. I am not a germophobic, just felt that was not clean for anyone. She would not cancel even though this was a property issue. I don’t think this is good business and very disappointed as it is not my fault the cleaning crew /owner did not have clean pillows. The unit faces the side - you can see the beach and also the street. It directly overlooks a empty lot. The area around appears safe but there were several homeless people near the property and directly on the empty lot. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this unit.
