About this property

2BR/2.5BA, clean hot tub, spa tub, 1 mi to Pkway,10min to GSMNP, arcade, fire pit

Selah is a Biblical word meaning "pause, rest, and reflect". We hope you will make it a priority to do this in our non-smoking, pet-free, 2 BR, 2.5 BA +-1200sf clean & bright duplex chalet. Down time is precious! We hope to provide a peaceful space to unwind. We like how one guest described it as "a soft place to land after an activity filled day.

PETS: We do allow dogs under 30 lbs or with permission. There is a $48 per.day pet fee, comparable to area kennels. Cats can not be allowed due to severe allergies

DISCOUNTS: We highly respect and are grateful for our dedicated teachers, military, healthcare workers, and firefighters. Actually, we think all jobs are important, especially our friends who are retired and of course, the hardworking stay at home moms. So, we decided to honor EVERYONE and are happy to offer a 10% discount to anyone who books for 7 nights.

LOCATION: Our chalet is in the perfect location to access most of Pigeon Forge without being stuck in traffic. We are close enough to the Parkway to walk, have done it ourselves, and see lots of people walking to the Wears Valley Road and the Parkway from our neighborhood. HOWEVER, there are no sidewalks on Valley Heights and the hill will get your heart rate up, so please use caution if you decide to try walking. Guests can avoid traffic, get to great restaurants, 2 popular mountain coasters, multiple shows and activities, and Publix/Kroger without driving on the Parkway. Dollywood is only 4 miles away. And most importantly, you can easily be in the national park in about 15 minutes. We like to walk ourselves, so have found a good compromise by driving a short way to use the free parking at the Pigeon Forge community center. We then walk on the Greenway beside the river, for about a mile to the Island, continuing on for another mile to the Old Mill.

DESCRIPTION OF SPACE: Selah Way Chalet is designed with rustic sophistication, and is perfect for a romantic getaway or can be comfortably shared by up to 6 guests. The floorplan offers an excellent design for privacy. We love that our vacation home is designed with 3 levels. There are 2 bedrooms, both with ensuite baths. Our king bedroom is on level 1 and the queen is on level 3, separated by level 2 living space w/queen sleeper sofa, kitchen and 1/2 bath. We have 2 outdoor decks, equipped with a new hot tub (drained and refilled with fresh water between every reservation) games, grill, and firepit. Our first floor master bath also has a private spa tub for 2.

When you enter on the main level, you can walk downstairs to find our first master bedroom. The king bed has a memory foam mattress. We offer pillow choices. We hope to spoil you with fresh robes and fluffy towels in our oversized attached bathroom. Rest assured that we use the highest standards when cleaning the spa tub! We fill it using a bleach solution, and make sure it is thoroughly sanitized inside and out between guests. We provide a starter supply of paper goods, our handmade soap, and our favorite tea tree body wash and high end shampoo. From the master bedroom, you can step out onto our shaded lower patio, equipped with a hot tub, games and curtains that can be left open or closed for privacy.

You can walk back up to the main level, and from there, take the fun spiral stair up to the second master bedroom. This is a closed bedroom, not a loft, so there is plenty of privacy. The bed has a queen memory foam mattress. We offer pillow choices of feather, solid foam, and down alternative. The bathroom is updated with granite countertops, vessel sink, and a standup shower with rain shower head. In case someone wants to sleep in, the upstairs bathroom also has a door to the hallway so you can access without entering through the bedroom. There are plenty of fluffy towels and a blow dryer. Just outside the private upper bedroom, there is a game area with board and arcade games to entertain all ages, no quarters needed!

On the main level, you can wake up to coffee, oatmeal, and grits at our stocked coffee bar. We have a regular coffee maker with hot water dispenser as well as a Keurig. We provide a starter supply of coffee, instant breakfast items, and paper goods, but you may need to restock for longer stays. With all the great restaurants only minutes away, you may not want to cook, but you should have what you need to prepare a full meal in the kitchen. It is not a huge space, but has a full oven, dishwasher, microwave, and small appliances including a blender, toaster, crockpot, and mixer. We have high quality cooking and baking pans. Walk through the living room with a huge smart TV, equipped with Hulu live, ESPN, and Disney +. Out on the partially covered upper deck, you will find our gas grill and fire pit. There is a half bath on this level for your convenience.

POOLS: Our wooded community has 2 seasonal shared pools for you to enjoy, one just on the other side of the cabin next door to ours. The other pool is an invigorating walk or very short drive away. It has a baby pool, bathrooms, and covered area with a swing and rocking chairs. Both are open a week or two before Memorial Day and sometimes we can keep them open well into October, weather permitting. Both pools have tables with umbrellas and are the perfect place to order a pizza or have a picnic. Picnic areas stay open even when pools are closed. We have beach towels available in season for your convenience.

TECHNOLOGY: Just after we upgraded to the fastest internet available in the area, we had 6 working adult professionals stay for 2 weeks, all working online at the same time from our chalet. We are happy to say that our service passed their test! They were very happy and said our internet service was great. We have smart TVs in the bedrooms and living area. Feel free to bring your passwords to log into your preferred streaming services, or feel free to access Hulu live, ESPN, and Disney+ that we provide.

THINGS TO DO: We love all the options that this location provides. Sometimes we just like to stay at the chalet and read a book, watch a movie, grill on the patio, walk in the neighborhood, relax in the spa tub, or enjoy swimming or picnicking at the pool. We also love the close proximity to all the fun things that Pigeon Forge has to offer.

SANITIZATION: We are both health care professionals, so rest assured that we are well educated in infection control techniques and followed them regularly even before the COVID 19 crisis. Hard surfaces, including door knobs, light switches, faucets, and knobs are wiped with professional grade cleaning wipes. Fabrics that can not be washed regularly, such as upholstered furniture, are sprayed with disinfectant after each booking. Our washing machine is equipped with steam function for higher heat. We recently completely remodeled our chalet. We encourage our guests to remove shoes when inside.

PARKING: Assigned parking for 2 cars with more upon request. We don't know who designed the parking spot adjacent to our front walkway, but we can assure you that we would have done it differently if we had been there! You will definitely know you are in the mountains if you park at our front door because it is both steep and slanted. THANKFULLY, we have more parking that is flat! If you have cars that ride lower, you will want to take advantage of our level parking option. However, we have had some guests who are comfortable with mountainous areas and find that the convenience of our front parking spot makes it worthwhile. We park there regularly, but understand that it is not suitable for everyone.

AMENITIES: We think you will enjoy the organic lavender oatmeal soap that we make for our guests. We also make organic hand soap and lip balm. We provide Tea Tree oil shampoo, conditioner, and body wash that is said to ward off ticks and other bugs. We have filtered water available, so don't forget your water bottles. We provide towels and also beach towels for pool usage during the swim season. Laundry detergent and cleaning products are available. There is an iron and ironing board near our steam equipped washer and dryer. We provide a starter supply of consumable paper and cleaning products, but you may need to replenish, especially for longer stays.

SECURITY: Selah Way Chalet is equipped with a coded door lock, so you can check yourself in and out and never have to worry about keeping up with keys. We do have a doorbell camera for your security, but it is not typically monitored. If you need immediate assistance, you can ring the doorbell. There have been sightings of bears and other wildlife in the neighborhood. Please take extra precautions and do not leave food on the patios or in your car.

NOISE: You will have access to the entire duplex chalet. There is one shared wall and no one above or below. Due to the proximity to the parkway, celebratory noise can be heard at times. If you listen closely, you can sometimes hear the sea lions barking at the Pirate Show. Neighborhood quiet time is between 11pm and 8am.

ACCESSIBILITY: There are stairs that must be taken to access both bedrooms. Be aware that one is a spiral staircase. There is a pullout sofa and half bath on the main floor.

Lastly, please read the cancellation policy and make sure you are comfortable with the terms prior to booking. We recommend the purchase of travel insurance to cover last minute or weather related complications. Pigeon Forge is an all-season resort area. We do not offer weather related cancellations. We can not guarantee that there will be no power or wifi outages.

We hope you will decide to "Selah" in our home!

About the host

Hosted by Jeffrey and Melanie

Host profile image
We are native East Tennesseans who love the Smoky Mountains, travel, gardening, and cherish family time. Some of our best memories with our three children are during vacations when we all got away and just spent time together. We value all of our vacations, whether camping in a tent or being spoiled at a luxury resort, and look at them as money invested in relationships.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this property when we saw the wooded location, proximity to all that Pigeon Forge has to offer, and easy access. We love hiking in the Smokies, so really enjoy staying here ourselves on the rare occasion that it isn't booked. In the summer, we picnic at the pool every chance we get. Inside the chalet, we enjoy the big windows, fireplace, firepit, and outdoor space. We like that we are close enough to Dollywood and other PF attractions to come home for lunch and a rest before heading back out for more fun.

What makes this property unique

We love the convenience that our chalet offers to hiking and nature. Drive on the scenic Gatlinburg bypass and you can be in the Smoky Mountain National Park in about 15 minutes. Not up for hiking? Drive on the scenic parkway 12 miles to the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail and enjoy the forest, log cabins, and rushing mountain streams from the comfort of your car.

The Pigeon Forge Trolley offers transportation all around the area with over 100 stops. You can park for free. Going to Dollywood? Avoid traffic and parking fees by taking the trolley. You can even take the PF trolley to the Gatlinburg welcome center. Check the website for changes, but as of this listing, rides are $1 with day passes for $3. Gatlinburg offers a separate, but excellent trolley service, also for very reasonable prices. No need to fight the traffic or pay to park.

Lastly, if the weather is nice and you are up for some exercise, park near the Pigeon Forge Community Center and take a 1 mile walk on the paved greenway, beside the river, to The Island. Maps and more information about the Pigeon Forge greenway system can be found online.

We do see guests walking to the parkway from our neighborhood fairly often. We can not recommend it as there are no sidewalks until you get to Wears Valley and the road is steep enough to make walking back up a bit uncomfortable. Instead, we recommend driving about 3 minutes to park at the Pigeon Forge community center (free) and from there, you can walk on the paved greenway to the Parkway and many attractions.
