A dedicated keiki (children’s) play area comes with a small table and chairs, toys, high chair, and pack‑and‑play, making it ultra‑family-friendly.

Comfort in every room. All four bedrooms feature air conditioning—though the common living spaces remain open-air, embracing that beautiful Hawaiian breeze. The primary suite on the ground floor includes a king bed, TV, and walk-in closet, connected via a Jack-and-Jill bathroom to a second king-bedded room. An additional full bath opens to the lanai and pool area for added convenience. A very comfortable house nicely organized with all the amenities we could need. There was even a special play area for kids. We played every day in the pool and walked the short distance to the special beach. Great communication and support from Mary!

Perfect vacation house

Our family of 10 enjoyed a week at Puako and were so sad to leave. The house had everything we needed, as well as a pool that the kids loved and a small beach with great snorkeling. Larger beaches were within a short driving distance. The house is comfortable but not fussy and Mary the property manager was so great with communication. We hope to be back!

Perfect!

We were two families traveling together - 4 adults and 5 children, ages 12-16. This house was absolutely perfect. The pictures don't do it justice as it is quite a bit larger than it appears. The outdoor space is plentiful and there are so many different areas to hang out. It rained a few days and because so much is covered, we still enjoyed the outdoors. The rooms are all sizable and the two main living areas are quite large. The location was also great, just steps to a nice beach (where you can watch the sunset) and only a short drive to the resort areas for groceries, restaurants and shopping. You can't go wrong with this house and 2 Papayas does a lovely job managing it.

The snorkeling was very good too. Good for multi-generational groups. The house was equipped with just about anything you could want and Mary was great support. Please be aware that the kitchen and living rooms are not air conditioned and can get hot in the afternoon. The heated pool was a lovely way to cool off. We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood, especially the dark skies at night. We saw many shooting stars in August.

We live full time in Northern California, and began to visit the Big Island in 2015. It's an easy flight from SFO and it's a spot our kids love to come to.


Why they chose this property

We were drawn to this property for its quiet location just steps from the beach. We had rented houses nearby and loved being able to walk back and forth to the beach as need be. It is so relaxing not to have to get into the car very often.

What makes this property unique

It has an easy, relatively sandy entry into the water. The snorkeling and paddle boarding is great when it's calm; my kids tell me the surfing is great when it's not. Sitting on the beach with a cup or coffee in the morning or a drink at sunset is magical.
