About this property

Peregrine Cabin - Off the Grid, hike-in cabin

Peregrine Cabin is an OFF-THE-GRID (non-electric, NO internet...some cell ) cabin located on 14 acres in the middle of the Red River Gorge Geological Area. Hike right out to the Martin’s Fork trailhead. Or if you’re more adventurous, find your way to the start of the Auxier Ridge trails or Raven Rock. This cabin is the ultimate getaway for those wishing more comfort than camping but also wanting to be immersed in nature. YOU MUST HIKE UP TO THE CABIN. This is not for the faint of heart or out of shape and you must carry in all your gear. However, your efforts will be rewarded. Surrounded by cliff lines, located in the Red River Gorge Geological area, this is a gem of a cabin.  The upstairs bedroom with a full-size bed opens to a flat roof. There’s also a queen-size pull-out couch downstairs. If you have more than two people coming to stay there is a fee of $25 a night per extra adult over two guests.

There is one electrical outlet in the cabin.   For cooking, we provide a single butane burner inside and a propane grill outside.  There is a gas log stove for heating and an A/C unit downstairs. Fire pit outside for your enjoyment! Water comes from a spring to a spigot outside the door.  A heavy-duty cooler is provided for food storage. There is a 3 season outdoor shower not available in the winter months due to freezing temperatures.  We provide cooking pots, pans, french press for coffee and pour-over drip, plates, silverware and cooking utensils, sheets, blankets, and towels.  There are two lanterns,  but headlamps are needed for hiking in and out and using the toilet after dark.  Please read and share all this information with the people coming with you so you can BE PREPARED to glamp comfortably!
Peregrine Cabin is located within the Red River Gorge Geological Area in the Daniel Boone National Forest. To get there you drive through the Historic Nada Tunnel, wind through the national forest, and hike into our off-the-grid cabin.  The Red River, which has places to swim, canoe, kayak, and fish is only a 1/2 mile away.
Pets are currently not allowed at this rental.  NO DOGS ALLOWED!

Enjoyable nature getaway
Really enjoyed staying at this property. Check-in was easy. Property managers are easy to communicate with. We had an issue with the water not working while we were there and they quickly remedied the issue. They sent suggestions for where to eat in advance. The operations manager that fixed the water was very friendly and made recommendations for places to visit. The property was clean and unique. We loved the rooftop swings and the rope web. Very cool. The hardest part is the hike up. It is a challenge, especially with carrying all the items you have packed. There are 2 cats and a dog you are likely to meet that roam the property. We enjoyed running in to them and having them follow us around. We would definitely come back.

Everything you need
The cabin was great for a weekend to hike and sit by a fire. There are 3 other cabins on the property (scattered up the hill), but they are spread out and out of sight. At night it gets very quiet.
