About this property

The Premier Syracuse Lake Wawasee lakefront home, sleeps 20, new furniture

Now taking 2025 reservations!

PIER 382, located in the center of Syracuse Lake's prestigious North Shore, is a magnificent custom home that takes full advantage of the property's hilltop location providing breathtaking panoramic views of the lake from all three levels.
NOTE: With it's 3 levels (4 if you count the lake level) there a quite a few stairs. No more than other homes of this style, but enough we feel it important to mention. There is a large main level bedroom w/ adjacent full bath for those wanting to avoid stairs.
Essentially a two-story home with a walk-out lower level. As you enter the foyer on the main level, to the right is the laundry/pantry and rec room, straight ahead is a large bedroom, and to the left is the enormous gourmet kitchen, large dining area, turret-sun room, spectacular great room that overlooks the lake and opens onto the main level balcony. Up the wide staircase there are 4 bedrooms upstairs including the Master and the "dormer-room" with it's 8 twin beds.
The lower level may be accessed from the great room or it's own balcony, and was designed to be a complete 2-bedroom apartment. It offers a family room, a second full kitchen and two bedrooms, including one with the "turret" designed panoramic views.
Built in 2004, this custom lake home has an inviting open floorplan so often lacking in older lake homes. Over 5,000 sq ft of living space, 7 sleeping areas (6 Large Bedrooms plus the huge Dormer room with 8 twin beds), 4 Full Baths, 3 Full Kitchens.
The main floor kitchen is enormous and very well appointed with virtually every appliance and accessory imaginable. It's not an over statement to call it "gourmet."
Pier 382 is the perfect destination for large family gatherings. The enormous great room w/cathedral ceiling and fireplace is often the center point for the day or evenings activities. The wall of lake side windows offer spectacular views of the lake, and the dining area is set up for large groups and is ideal for meals or games. Just off the great room is the spacious main level balcony. The perfect place to catch all the lakeside action, with Adirondak chairs overlooking the lake and the dining area is perfect for outdoor meals or activities. There is also a power awning that covers the balcony dining table to give you a break from the sun.
The lower level was designed to serve as a 2 Bedroom apartment, w/ Full Bath and Full kitchen w/ Breakfast bar, family room and private balcony. This area creates that "someplace else" to read, nap or just get away for a bit. Just outside this area is the Lower-level Balcony, which has a 6-person bar w/ LP Fire Ring overlooking the lakeside patio.
Lakeside patio has a new upholstered seating area, Adirondack chairs, lounge chairs. We just added a 2nd propane "fire ring" for lake side patio, perfect for those cool evenings. Plenty of room to sit, lounge or sun by the lake.
Syracuse Lake and the surrounding area is perfect for, swimming, boating, fishing, sailing, golfing or just relaxing. The lake is beautiful, the water so clean and clear you can see the sandy lake bottom and even fish swimming by from the balcony above. The lake bottom around our pier in particular is very sandy and shallow out to about the 4th or 5th section which provides a wonderful shallow swimming/wadding area for kids and grown-ups a like. Past the 4th section of pier, it starts dropping off to about 6-7 feet deep at the end of the pier. Our pier is a bit longer than most and guests are welcome bring their own boat or rent from local marinas, a few of which will drop off and pick up at the pier.
Syracuse Lake is connected to Lake Wawasee via a channel that goes under the rather low rail bridge on the south side of the lake. NOTE: Guests wishing to boat between the lakes should inquire first, as some boats will not fit under the rail bridge. Both of our speed boats fit under most of the year, but pontoon boats typically will not.
Syracuse lake is an "all sports" lake meaning "speed boats" and water skiing Jet Skis and tubing are allowed. Growing up, Doug's family had a home on Wawasee, but we regularly went to Syracuse Lake preferring it's calmer waters for skiing and tubing.
The North shore of Syracuse Lake is known for its meticulously maintained properties, many of which overlook the lake from a hill. (We like to think of it as the "better part" of the lakes....but we might be biased :) ...or... we might be right ;) haha
The town of Syracuse and the surrounding area are quite charming and offer a multitude of activities and attractions.
Pier 382 is not primarily a rental property, and we won't rent to anyone simply because they have the money. This is our family lake home, and we take pride in maintaining it at that level for both ourselves and our guests. We cater to large families and corporate guests needing a property that can comfortably accommodate up to 20 guests. Doug personally greats all guests at the property. We chose to rent to help offset expenses and because we can't use it all the time, but we are not looking to simply book as many stays as possible.
All the beds and mattresses were purchased new in 2022-23 and are covered with quality linens. We have a great team of housekeepers that understand our standards and work hard to maintain the level of cleanliness we and our guests expect. Please look at our reviews, I ask many guests... "did we over sell it?" and the most common reply ..."it's bigger and better than we expected!"
We are committed to making your stay fantastic and will go the extra mile to make that happen. Let us know what we can do to make your stay even better. We are happy to "pre-stage" things or even help procure select items. We greet all guests personally to ensure they are familiar with the location and operation of all the amenities the home offers.
Please contact us, we'd love to chat with you and help plan your next stay.

About the host

Hosted by Doug and Leslie Dickmann

Host profile image
We are Doug and Leslie Dickmann. We both grew up on Indiana Lakes, Leslie's family on Morse Reservoir and Doug's on Lake Wawasee. We learned to swim, ski, sail, boat and fish on these lakes, and are so excited to now have our own place.
Our back story: Leslie is the managing partner/owner of AAA Exterminating, and Mr Frog's Property Services, and Doug retired after 30+ years as a commercial and residential broker with the F.C. Tucker Co. and for the last 20 years the Director of the Tucker School of Real Estate. We live in Greenfield, IN just east on Indy, so we are "hands on" hosts. Doug is available 24/7 and is typically the one who greets guests upon arrival.
We bring in a professional cleaning crew following each rental to properly and completely clean the property from top to bottom, linens etc. The challenge and expense is getting a quality job done in the short time between summer guests (10am -4 pm) We believe cleanliness is next to... well you know.
We have all new smoke, fire & CO detectors, several fire extinguishers and 2nd story escape ladders.
Guests will find a helpful "guest guide" that details how to use the different appliances, grills, fireplace etc. as well as area attractions, golf courses, restaurants, shops and museums.
HERE IS THE DIFFERENCE. Pier 382 is not primarily a rental property, this is our lake home, and we will not rent for fraternity parties or just anyone who can afford it. Renting helps offset the enormous cost of maintaining a property of this size, but we have very much enjoyed sharing our lake home with guests and their families. When we decided to rent, we committed to doing it the right way. The way that brings back the kind of guests we would want. We have several return guests, families that have been staying here longer than we've owned it. We think, in a way, it's become their lake house too.
We are so proud of our reviews, check them out.

Why they chose this property

PIER 382 offers it all. Unbelievable Home, Ideal lot, Premier Lake. Over 5000 sq. ft. of luxurious accommodations, 7 large bedrooms, 4 baths, room for everyone. This multi-level luxurious home takes full advantage of it's walk-out lot. Each level has a "turret" shaped room offering panoramic views of the lake. Enormous great room and main level balcony provide breath taking lake views. Primary kitchen is truly gourmet, endless counter space, "prep island," wine frig., commercial grade appliances and all the accessories. Large Weber gas grill outside.
Large main floor bedroom next to full bath, for those who don't like stairs. Spacious master w/ personal sitting area w/ great views of the lake, plus a luxurious bath with jetted tub and walk-in shower. Two more large bedrooms upstairs plus "dormer room" which has 8 twin beds. With the exception of one queen, all other beds are king. The lower-level, offers two bedrooms. One w/ the "turret" footprint of the master w/ panoramic views of the lake has a king bed, other a queen bed. The lower level also has a full bath, complete kitchen, and family room. The lower level provides a 2nd living area,... that "someplace else" that is often hard to find at large gatherings, yet so needed. If one family has an infant or someone wants to watch something else or just get away for a nap or quiet time.
But when it comes to getting everyone together, this home delivers. Dining table seats 10+, perfect for meals and games. We have several great games we've played for years, perfect for a large group and kids.
The garage is really more of a rec. room, with epoxy floors, pool table, air hockey, foosball, ping pong and large screen TV. Fun and games for all.
And of course, the lake. The lake level has large patio with quality seating area, lounge chairs. Our pier is extra-long with a large seating area at the end.
Lake is crystal clear with sandy bottom, perfect for swimming, wadding, or to take out a kayak.

What makes this property unique

At PIER 382, you'll feel as if your best friend lent you their lake home. It's has been entirely updated with new paint, and furnishings throughout. All bedrooms offer new beds with new top quality mattresses and linens. The new leather couches are softer than a baby mink's butt and comfortable enough to sleep on, but no need to, w/7 bedrooms, there is room everyone.
Syracuse Lake and Lake Wawasee are part of the Lake Michigan water shed, which makes for the pristine clear water. Unlike the murky waters of reservoirs caused by the flow of silt from the river or stream that feds them, these two lakes are spectacularly clean and clear. In the early 1900's ice was commercially taken from the lakes and shipped by rail to Chicago.
These two lakes provide excellent fishing, swimming, boating and golfing. Growing up, we always came over to Syracuse to water ski. In Jan, you'll see the "fishing nuts" in their "fishing huts" on the ice.
There is wealth of history in the lakes region to explore. From the quaint town of Syracuse, it's nice shops and fine dining, to the shopping, crafts and culture of Nappanee and Shipshewana. And the Auburn Cord Deusenberg Museum in Auburn, IN

We provide a few bikes and trikes to ride, two kayaks, books, games, and of course the lake for swimming, boating and fishing plus golf a 9 iron away.
We're proud to have past renters, (families, golf buddies etc.) coming back & continuing a tradition. We know of no other Syracuse / Wawasee lake front property that offers more space, bedrooms with such quality appointments or better location.
Doug & Leslie are committed to making each stay special and memorable. Let us know of any special requests. We would be honored to be your host.
