About this property

Stunning Lakefront Six-bedroom Century home

"Sweet Lorraine" is ideal for a family vacation and peaceful get away with exhilarating views. Its large lakefront property with fishing pier has plenty of space to play and entertain. It has 10 beds in super comfy, spacious rooms (3 King, 2 Queen, four twin, one double), 3 1/2 baths with an extra separate shower, family kitchen and ample furniture.

It is only 5 minutes from Lakeview beach and park, city restaurants, Spitzer marina and 35 minutes from both Cedar Point and downtown Cleveland.

The space:
• 5,000sf home is all yours. Built in 1908, this gorgeous Edwardian Craftsman has been lovingly cared for and updated to withstand 21st century living, while maintaining its original 20th century charm.
• Walk into the grand foyer and be instantly transported back to Lorain Ohio’s golden age. Off of the foyer you will find a warm living/dining room to your right, a study/living room to your left (old formal dining room) and a 21st century family kitchen, breakfast room and powder room straight ahead.
• Behind the living/dining room you will find a 3-season room with amazing lake views (this will be your favorite spot in the house).
• The second floor has 1 King Master Suite with Pella French Doors leading to your private waterfront balcony and connected to a room with a Double Sofa Bed/study, 2 more King Bedrooms, 1 Queen Bedroom, 1 full bathroom, a shower room and laundry room.
• The third floor has one Bedroom with 1 Queen and 2 Twins, one Bedroom with 2 Twins, a playroom and a full bath. The playroom also has a twin bed. But it has trouble staying cool on hot days.
• Lastly, you will find a full-size walk-out basement with another full bath, extra fridge, ping pong table and play-room—perfect for the kiddos to make as much noise as they want.
• The best thing about this property is the 1/2 acre back yard with plenty of space to play and gather with the sense of total freedom and peace with the expansive view of the lake and sky as far as you can see.

"Sweet Lorraine" is perfect for family reunions, Holidays, and just a warm and quiet place to get away from it all.

4th of July Family Vacation!
Great house, well equipped, awesome backyard and fire pit, and close to everything. Home owner was very responsive to all questions. Our family of 13 had a wonderful vacation on this property. Only drawback is that two of the 3rd floor bedrooms were warm until the early morning hours. Free-standing A/C is 3rd bedroom just couldn't cool the whole 3rd floor. Grandchildren had so much fun fishing and swimming. Backyard is huge and very relaxing. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Family celebration
This home was perfect for us. Everything we needed was available. We used the fire pit every evening and the outdoor seating area during the day. The grill was good, too. Inside was comfortable and pretty! Short drive to charming Vermilion. Weather didn’t cooperate for the islands. Great place to stay and enjoy the lake view.

Lake Erie vacation
Beautiful, very spacious house! The owner provided everything we needed to relax and enjoy. Accessible to Cedar Point, Cleveland, beach, ice cream, and basketball court. Enjoyed kayaks on the lake and evening firepit circle.

Family Thanksgiving and Wedding
We needed a place for our family of 15 to stay for Thanksgiving and a wedding in the Cleveland area and wanted a VRBO rather than a hotel. The house was perfect with more than enough bedrooms and plenty of room for family conversations and dining together. The house is very well equipped with everything from linens and towels to outdoor toys. The kitchen had everything that we needed for our family of 15 people. Our host was very responsive to the few questions that we had. It was a great location to rest and relax together. We are also considering this property for summer vacations. I would highly recommend this property for your special get-away.

My husband’s father was born and raised in Lorain, Ohio where his mother and father from Hungary settled and managed 8 children. Tim’s Father eventually moved his young family to Westlake, Ohio around 1953. Tim and I lived there with two children from 1989 till his career took us away, but we always prayed to come back to family and Beautiful Lake Erie. Finally, after 23 years away, we’ve bought a “family vacation home” back on the lake of our roots. My grandfather who immigrated from Norway in 1910, a seaman turned dairyman, was an expert fisherman on the shores of Lake Erie by 1916 and married and lived in Cleveland till his death in 1967. His daughter, my mother, retired to the shores of Lake Erie on the west side of Cleveland till her death in 2021 at the age of 99. It is with great gratitude that we wish to share this home for family reunions with others while we are still away, living in Texas, to be near our grandchildren.
