This Lakeside Retreat sleeps 4 comfortably and has been completely renovated with all the amenities to have a comfortable getaway along the shores of Lake Erie.
By going down the stone stairway, you have access to the lake itself , actual water level. Although swimming is discouraged , you might want to “cast a line “. Please no rock climbing!
You can enjoy watching fun lake activities from any of the three lake bank levels. The retreat’s lakeside bedroom opens onto the covered balcony above the covered patio. The Lorain Lighthouse is within sight, along with majestic sunsets, intriguing lake wildlife, and other marvels of Mother Nature. The Retreat’s large windows allow viewing from inside, as well. There is a gas fueled fire pit for your evening gathering as you wind down your day. Boat charters, jet skis, and kayak rentals are nearby. Summer concerts at Black River Landing just .6 mile away. Cedar Point and downtown Cleveland are only a 45 minute drive.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is beautiful and tastefully decorated. The Victorola and the selection of music was an added bonus. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the upper patio while watching the Neighbourhood eagle and various other sea birds. We even had a surprise visitor, the local groundhog. Everything we could possibly want to make our stay enjoyable with furnished. We loved our stay at the Lakeview retreat.

Lovely, comfortable, clean, well appointed, right on the lake

We stayed here over th long graduation weekend at Oberlin. Wish we had found it earlier in her 5 years. Oberlin is a straight shot down from the lake, 13 miles, an easy & relaxing 25 min The title gives our summary of the property. We particularly enjoyed the many herons and occasional osprey cruising by the water's edge up high. Lovely sunsets too! Attentive, helpful, unobtrusive hosts.

The best getaway

George is a wonderful host. He is attentive to every detail. The home is on the water so the views of the lake are magestic. The house felt as if we were the first guests! It was clean and had all the amenities we needed to relax and just enjoy the view!!

Perfection on the Lake

This was my second stay here and I loved it even more than the first time. The neighborhood is quiet, the house is clean and bright, the decor is lovely and very tasteful, the beds are comfortable, the kitchen and bathrooms are fully equipped with everything you could possibly need (and my wife adored the bathtub), and the lake view is spectacular. Probably the nicest VRBO I've ever stayed in.

Amazing place with attention to the finer details

The place was perfect! They definitely put time and thought into the finer details of making this place a great place for short-term rentals. They had all kinds of little quirks about the place that made you feel just a home; to the point, if you forgot something......they most likely had it in stock in the house for you to use; from toiletries to feminine products, to bandaids, and beyond. Excellent host and would definitely stay there again.

Lovely Lakeside Retreat

Everything about this property and house is outstanding! It is immaculate, well stocked in the kitchen and bathrooms, beautifully furnished and with an amazing view! Sitting by the gas firepit with a cocktail and great friends looking out over the lake was our highlight. The sunsets were spectacular! Thank you George and Ron for making this a place we want to book again and again!

Absolutely wonderful!

This is a stunning property, and we were thrilled with everything. The owner and property manager were excellent and timely communicators, very friendly and accommodating. The property is extremely well appointed and has pretty much everything you need! The view is stunning, and we were sad to leave. We would definitely stay again, and highly recommend.

The Lakeside Retreat is top notch in all lakefront properties available. This was our second visit to this property in less than a year. The first was a short 5 day stay. The second was 14 nights. Beautiful spot on Lake Erie

The house is very nicely decorated and more than adequately equipped. They thought of everything from table and yard games to coffee, spices, bottled water, and bags of ice! The views of the lake and setting sun were spectacular! The whole back of the house is windows! It was very quiet too! George was very available and helpful for anything we needed. We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay there again!

Sister’s Vacation at Lakefront!

Wow! Where to start? This place is stunning and has all that you could possibly need. The house inside is amazing and very well done… the lake viewing areas outside are unsurpassed. George makes sure you have everything you need and is always quick to respond to your every need!! I wish we could give it a higher rating than they allow us because it is the very best!!!

Phenomenal

This house was amazing and had a million dollar view! This is the cleanest house I’ve ever rented, whoever the cleaning crew is deserves a shoutout. I have to say there is nothing negative about this property! It was fully stocked with anything you can ever think you may need. The beds were super comfortable and so were the couches! We also enjoyed the easy to use gas fireplace and enjoyed having the best view to go with it! We totally recommend this house! Thanks to the friendly neighbor who stopped by to check if we needed anything and the fast reply’s by the owner. We really enjoyed our little family get away!!!

High End Lake Front Retreat

Almost everything about this property was high end, top notch, well appointed. It was furnished beautifully, the kitchen outfitted for cooks, with the exception of a glass cutting board (terrible for knives). Linens and towels were comfortable and plentiful. The only noted drawback in the house was the absence of screens in the lakefront room's side windows, preventing us from enjoying much of the lake breeze. This place felt like a home, rather than a rental. It's the nicest place we've stayed. Check-in had an unfortunate glitch and we got the code 30+ minutes late, without apology from George, the manager.

So peaceful and immaculate

We’ve never stayed in a property that was as immaculately clean! The layout of the home was wonderful- but the views of the lake! Whether from the upstairs porch, the downstairs porch or the small deck closer to the water sitting around the fire pit- Heaven! Just a perfect getaway. Always important- the beds were very comfortable. We admittedly didn’t go out much, but the marina and boardwalk were a fun place to visit. The area appears to be going through some revitalization so there may be more things to do in the community as that develops. Note that there’s no swimming off the property- there’s no good transition to the lake and it’s not allowed, but it in no way kept us from enjoying to property. Highly recommended!

Outstanding Home and Property

We have rented approximately 8 lakeside homes over the past 5 years. All have their unique layouts and amenities. We are extremely careful when choosing from the numerous selections available through VRBO. This Lakeside Retreat has earned the #1 spot in our selections to date. The owner was available immediately to greet us, as well as tending to any future requests during our stay. The property was newly renovated, fresh, and extremely inviting upon entry. The lake views from inside were breathtaking. The landscaping was awesome. Three tiers of well constructed lakeside patio levels to enjoy. The house itself had an upper and lower deck/patio. The property inside and out was well equipped with daily/weekly necessities, including a fully stocked medicine/first aid cabinet. The fishing was fantastic! Overall, this property exceeded our highest expectations! We shall return for future visits.

Wonderful lakeside getaway

As far as the town of Lorain, it’s not the greatest. Run down and not much to do. There are a few wineries 15-30 min drive from the house. Paper Moon Vineyards and Winery was a casual, fun place with live music. The Lorain boat marina and Mile Long Pier is 5 min from the house. Beautiful place to walk with views of the lake and lighthouse. ‘Speak of the Devil’ bar, a 3 min drive away, had the most delicious cocktails! However, this a is a review of the property, and for my purposes as a waterfront getaway, it was perfect! Right on the lake with a gorgeous view. The inside decor and cleanliness were impeccable. The cleanest rental I’ve ever stayed in! Just beautiful! There is a nice, flat back yard with a sitting area and gas fire pit overlooking the lake. A perfect spot for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful view with some beverages. We also spent a lot of time in the sunroom during the evenings when it was chillier, where we could work on our knitting and crocheting and still enjoy the beautiful lake views. My sister and I were so very happy with the property. The property manager was quick to respond to any questions/communications. I really hope to visit again.
