L’Aiguillon sur Mer marks the entry into the Vendée department. Known for its Baie de l'Aiguillon nature reserve, which is integrated into the Marais Poitevin, its port, moored on wooden booms, is worth a detour. It extends along the Lay estuary. There are fishermen's huts where you can buy the catch of the day.

As for the Aiguillon sur Mer beaches, the main and busiest is its stretch of water located in the city center next to the port. This looks like a lake with sea water with sandy beaches on the city center side. The area is monitored in summer and it is on this body of water that we will find the most activity. Some wilder beaches are available towards Pointe de l’Aiguillon but these are not supervised. They offer a beautiful view of La Rochelle, the bridge and the Ile de Ré. Nearby, the large beaches of La Faute sur Mer are very pleasant (3 km).
