Historic Log Ranch-House Joining 1000's of Acres of Public Land
The Antelope Ranch- A great getaway for a family reunion or a group of friends who love to share the outdoors.
Location: Located near the lush Little Snake River Valley in the midst of historic ranching country, the ranch is 10 miles north of the Colorado Border on the Western Slope of the Continental Divide. Three miles from the Medicine Bow National Forest and surrounded by thousands of acres of public land. The ranch sits in the green valley of the Savery River.
The ranch has rugged sagebrush hills with aspen lined draws leading down to the meadows and river. County road 561N leading out of the town of Savery goes through the property.
House: The cozy ranch house was built in the late 1800's from local logs and sandstone and was the headquarters for several ranching families over the years. Originally a dairy farm, then a cattle and a sheep ranch. I call it a 'huge' small house because it appears deceptively small. It has: a full kitchen, dining room, family room, living room, covered porch, two baths and five bedrooms.
There is also lots of room for tents and RV campers. The house is very nice for a group of 7-8 people who want to get together and enjoy the outdoors and have a nice place to come back to.
Recreation: Hunting, horseback riding, ATV, snow machine and mountain bike riding (your own horse or equipment), wildlife viewing, fishing and swimming are all here. Private hunting may be arranged on the 320 deeded acres and the surrounding BLM land is available for hunting to the public (the ranch is located in the area 82 or the general region W). The area supports elk, mule deer, white tail, antelope, sage grouse, etc.
For birders, the area is also rich with wild birds including many types of raptors. The Savery River is usually stocked and fishing is available on the ranch as well as on miles of state owned river. There are several reservoirs and lakes within 45 minutes of the ranch.
The surrounding area is crisscrossed with dirt tracks and roads providing for plenty of exploration and mountain biking. For those not so outdoorsy, the town of Savery has a nice museum and over the Continental Divide, the towns of Encampment and Saratoga also have museums, shops, restaurants, and a free hot spring.
If you need a Starbucks around the corner to make your life complete; this place isn't for you, but if you like the great outdoors, you will love what this area has to offer.
We also can provide ranch stays (rent rooms not the whole house) or working ranch stays (work in exchange for room and board.

This secluded property is exactly what we were looking for. Beautiful property and comfortable. The Host was wonderful and took care of us. It felt like going home.
Lela was great. Very accommodating she was genuine and went so far as to heat the home for us before getting back. She made us some amazing salsa. Overall a great stay and a great host.
We spent the best week in Savery with our 4 kids (14, 10, 9, and 6). Lela was generous with her time and guidance on navigating the area around her beautiful property. We had fun in the river and exploring nearby towns and trails. It is a magical place and we would highly recommend for any family looking to try get away.
The Savery House is a refreshing escape to a simpler kind of vacation. The house takes you a step back in time and the location has the best of what Wyoming outdoor adventures can offer. There is internet available as a connection to modern trappings, but the rest of what this property has to offer is about enjoying a getaway from the hustle and bustle of contemporary living. This is a very old home that retains the charms of bygone American living. This includes squeaky wood floors and imperfections. However, that adds to the charm of the stay for renters who seek an unpretentious vacation experience. The location presents opportunities to fishing, hiking, and off-road adventures right out the door along with river rafting, old west museums, small town shopping experiences a short, vista rich drive away. The host of this destination is eager to make your stay comfortable and can help with any questions about the home and the surrounding community. This is a working ranch so don’t be surprised to see activity outside the home’s fenced yard. We have rented a wide variety of vacation homes; however, none have been as uniquely rustic as this home which will make it stand out in our memories of places visited.
We visited antelope ranch as a group of 3 adults, 3 kids (7,8,10) & 2 dogs. Our stay was perfect. Lela was the most wonderful host. Always willing to spend time with the kids (and adults) to teach us. She went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We cannot thank her enough for that! Kids enjoyed collecting fresh eggs every day, exploring nature and visiting the little snake River museum. This is not a 5 star luxury hotel, it is a farm house…but that is what we came here for. The beds are comfortable, linens are well stocked, interesting decor, and so many books available to read.
We have visited dozens of rentals, but have never had an experience so amazing! Thank you Lela- till we meet again!!!

Really charming farmhouse in sunny and private setting
I happened across this rental by accident and am very glad I did. I stayed here for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of my stay. The bed and linens were comfortable and inviting, wood burning stove was a great focal point, antiques throughout the home and sunny generous sized front porch from which to enjoy the changing fall colors. This cabin is also in an area that is accessible and pleasurable for walking. Wildlife was everywhere. The owner was generous enough to allow us to use the vegetables from her garden. Everything was spotless and the kitchen was very well stocked. I would highly recommend this rental.

Wyoming Heaven
If your idea of a “ranch” is a luxury spa with an old wagon out front, this rental is not for you. If you want to stay on a place that is surrounded by sage brush shrublands full of life, complete with chickens, wonderful vegetable gardens, bugs, cattle, and a 200-year-old log ranch house that has been lived in, not “restored”, with million-dollar views from everywhere, then you will have a wonderful experience at Antelope Ranch in Savery, Wyoming. This piece of Wyoming heaven also includes Lela Emmons, a wonderful host who patiently answers endless questions and is as generous with her property as it is possible to be. The spacious ranch house has homey furniture, rooms with lovely windows, and a big kitchen that is old-fashioned and truly fun to make meals in. A classic example of previous foodies each leaving the larder better than they found it.
There are lovely walks and drives in the surrounding area, especially a beautiful river throughout. A truck or four-wheel drive vehicle would help, but is not mandatory. We managed without one. The Museum in Savery shouldn't be missed if you are interested in Western history. Many of the items and exhibits are connected to residents of the Snake River Valley. Original buildings spread around the grounds are extremely interesting.
Listing photos and descriptions are very accurate. Property is well-maintained and lovely.
Very recommended.
