About this property

Debbie's Hat Island Shangri-la

Located on Hat Island (Gedney Island), a private island community 5 miles offshore from Everett (Port Gardner). Everett Marina is approximately a 30-minute drive north of Seattle and from the marina a short 15-minute boat ride to Hat Island.

Beautiful custom cedar-built bluff home with breathtaking views & gorgeous sunsets on a private island! Step into the entry & amazing views of the Saratoga Passage, Port Susan & Camano Island can be seen through the wall of windows in the spacious living room that features gorgeous hardwood floors, wood burning stove & french doors leading to the deck overlooking the bay. The stunning gourmet kitchen features travertine flooring, custom cabinetry & large kitchen island that opens to the dining area. Retreat to master suite w/private deck, walk-in closet, jetted tub & steamer shower upstairs.

We have two options to transport your group to Hat Island:

Hat Island has a Ferry (40 passengers no cars - it is a foot Ferry) that will transport you and your family/guests over to the Island. It is a scenic 15-minute ride from Everett to Hat. Please consult the Hat Island Ferry Schedule for dates and times and advise us after a booking is accepted on dates and times. We have to make the reservation for you. The Ferry costs $12.00 per person each way. You can come and go depending on availability. Please see the Ferry schedule: https://hatisland.org/ferry/

Or, we have access to a private boat that can pick you up at Anthony's Restaurant and Ferry you over to the Island (about a 15-minute ride). It costs $30.00 per person each way for a private boat. All boat ride times must be coordinated & confirmed prior to your stay.

Once you have arrived on the Island our Host Barbara will drive you to the house and get you situated. Barbara lives just down the street and can assist you with any questions.

The house is fully equipped for your comfort and convenience. Amenities include a wood-burning stove, TVs to stream Netflix/Hulu/Google TV and other apps, board games, puzzles, and books.

Laundry facilities are located on the lower level.

Good cell coverage and WiFI provided and works great!

Many things to do such as walking, swimming, paddle boarding, crabbing (in season), clamming, scuba diving, golfing, frisbee golf (golf & frisbee golf additional charges) beach combing, small boating, berry picking, pickleball, and tennis, or just relaxing with a good book and the quiet and stillness of island living.

The minimum rental is a 3-night minimum. No rentals Dec-Feb as the property is winterized.

No groups of unrelated teens or 20-somethings may rent. Signing a contract to rent is required to finalize the booking at which time we will also send information about parking, golfing, crabbing, the foot ferry, maps, and house system information.

This is NOT a good place from which to base day trips. It is generally not feasible to go to a Mariners or Seahawks game from Hat Island unless you have a helicopter or a speed boat.

Mooring is available at Hat Island Marina for private boats. We have to confirm a guest reservation in advance of your stay. If you are a member of another Yacht Club that helps as well. Please let us know.

The booking process and next steps:

1. Make a reservation request

2. We will approve your request

What's included with a confirmed booking:

1. Use of this amazing home!

2. Transportation to and from the Island for your group

3. Use of our car during the stay (Mercury Mountaineer)

Please note:

1. You must bring your groceries with you. Home stocked with basics: flour, oil, sugar, pepper & salt.

2. You must remove your own trash at the end of your stay. A $25.00 dollar fee per bag is charged if trash is left behind. Garbage bags are provided. You can drop the trash in the dumpsters located at the Everett Marina on your return trip. It's super easy and Islanders do this weekly.

3. You will be required to check in at the Hat Island Office when you arrive on the Island.

4. You can park your car in the Everett Marina in the long-term parking lots - subject to daily parking fees.

5. House has 1 King bed (primary with ensuite), 1 Queen bed with private bathroom, and 2 Queen beds (in the third bonus room). We also have 4 cots with mattress toppers. Great for kids to sleep on the deck!
