About this property
Morrill Mansion Inn - 1 - Self Check In
Welcome to The Morrill Mansion Inn! This 1800's era townhouse has been meticulously restored to its original Italianate elegance. Formerly the Morrill Mansion Bed & Breakfast, we recently dropped the breakfast to serve Airbnb/VRBO guests near and far as a boutique hotel.
This historic home was built in the early 1800s by one of the founders of the B&M Factory (the M stands for Morrill). Up until 2021, the B&M factory had been exclusively making B&M beans and their infamous smokestack was a staple in the Portland Skyline. What started as a single-family home, the Morrill Mansion saw many other uses before morphing into a bed and breakfast in the 1990s, and recently dropped the breakfast to serve guests near and far. Architectural details that make the home unique have been restored and modern amenities have been added to make your stay in Portland comfortable.
With just eight guest rooms, our inn offers a peaceful stay satisfying social guests or those seeking solace. Each private room, with a private ensuite bath, is furnished with a queen-sized bed, television (not your traditional cable, we have a smart TV with a YouTube TV account which offers live channels), a white noise machine, a reading chair (or couch depending on the room), and a mini-fridge. During the summer months (May through October) each room has a window AC unit and during the heating season, each room has its own Rinnai heater which allows you to control your own heat.
The guest rooms share the sitting room located on the first floor which has a coffee station, ice maker and luggage nook for guests who need storage before and/or after check out.
This room does not have an off-street parking spot. Because we neighbor Maine Medical Center, parking within a half-mile radius is hourly parking only from 9 am-5 pm Monday through Friday. If you arrive on a weekday at 4 pm or later, you can park on a neighboring street and leave the car for the night until 10 am the next morning. If you arrive on a weekday at 3 pm or are staying for multiple days, we can provide you with street parking directions a half-mile walk away.
From November through March, we will be completing light renovations between 10 am and 5 pm. During this time you may hear hammering, chop saws, thuds, etc.

We chose Morrill Mansion for its economical price. What we got was much more than a great price. A charming historic but renovated building, a comfortable room and a great location in Portland’s West End,
Convenient to everywhere.
We would gladly return.
It was a great location - we walked everywhere. We had trouble with the stairs to our room, but that just our bad knees speaking.
Wonderful morning coffee - thanks!
The Mansion is located diagonally across the street from the Hospital parking lot. The Mansion is in a mostly residential neighborhood.
The rooms are comfortable (we stayed in #1) and the bathrooms have been recently remodeled. We had an issue with the TV (new that apparently needs to be rebooted periodically) and the Internet was out for 2 days (needed the router to be replaced). Other than that, no issues.
There
My only recommendation is to read the fine print on this room - it says parking in the title and for this room we were told when checking in that it was street parking. Street parking here is HARD. You’ll need to park at least half a mile away or move your vehicle every couple hours if you aren’t using it.
Otherwise it was a nice place to stay!
Beautiful accommodation in a hidden gem neighborhood.
Our room was exactly as advertised and all we wanted. The Morrill Mansion is a short drive to the downtown harbor area, but to our surprise also a short walk to a very happening neighborhood with tons of food options, music and shops. We couldn't have picked a better place.
