About this property
Céladon - SAINT-BOIL - Gîte
A renowned ceramic artist exhibiting worldwide (with a studio and showroom on site, available for visits upon request with her), Marie-Laure welcomes you to an authentic, characterful former outbuilding, steeped in history and fully restored. It was once linked to the artisanal tile works built in the early 19th century that occupied the premises (of which the imposing brick kiln remains). Enjoy peace and tranquility in the heart of the rolling countryside (protected as a ZNIEFF and various Natura 2000 sites for their rich fauna and flora), within a small residential hamlet nestled amidst meadows on the edge of a peaceful, picturesque, and perfectly preserved wine-growing village (boasting a beautiful listed 12th-century Romanesque church and a rare ancient quarry of Gallo-Roman sculptures from the 3rd century). An ultra-relaxing setting and location, nestled on the edge of fields and idyllic wooded meadows (home, in season, to the famous local Charolais cows), just a stone's throw from the nearest vineyards (600m away) and the Green Way, in the heart of a magnificent landscaped setting of preserved nature and greenery. A comfortable cottage. A warm country charm enhanced by a few vintage touches (including beautiful 1950s tiles in the kitchen) and the utterly captivating atmosphere of a former rural home. Full of charm. Cozy ambiance. A lovely, private garden area nestled within a pleasant enclosed property, landscaped with lawns and trees, and adorned with a fruit orchard (cherry, mirabelle plum, plum…/picking possible). Soothing, unobstructed views of the surrounding countryside. Composition: The cottage is attached to the owner's house and ceramics workshop (completely independent). Wi-Fi (fiber optic). Gas central heating. Ground floor cottage: living room/kitchen, lounge (single bed 90x190cm), 1 bedroom (double bed 160x200cm), shower room (shower/WC). Private garden (reserved area) and parking. Shared enclosed garden (1600m²). Bicycle storage. Shops and supermarket 8 km. Stay "in the heart of the meadows" on a site steeped in history, on the edge of a peaceful & picturesque wine-growing village, a stone's throw from the vineyards and the Green Way! Authentic character outbuilding of a former artisanal tile factory dating from the early 19th century, completely renovated into a gentle holiday home, nestled in the calm on the edge of fields & meadows - on a pleasant enclosed property of 1600m² - within a small rural residential hamlet located 8 km (equidistant) from the charming medieval towns of Saint-Gengoux-le-National ("major Cluniac site" labeled "Cities of Character of Burgundy-Franche-Comté") and Buxy (numerous amenities on site including supermarkets). Total tranquility & soothing preserved landscaped setting, in the heart of gentle rolling countryside mixing viticulture, agriculture & nature (protected in ZNIEFF & various Natura 2000 Zones for the quality of its rich ecosystems) between vineyard hillsides, beautiful wild forests and wooded bocage meadows dotted with ponds & river, next to the vast state forest of La Ferté (literally "green lung" of the territory) and the bucolic Grosne valley, not far from the wooded foothills of the nearby South Burgundy massif. An exceptionally privileged location at the crossroads of the vineyards of the Haut-Mâconnais and the Côte Chalonnaise, on the "Route des Grands Vins" (extended south by the "Route des Vins de Bourgogne"), the Romanesque churches circuit, several marked "green walks" (a vast network of similar hiking trails to explore on foot or by mountain bike) and the "Grande Boucle de Bourgogne du Sud" Green Way connected to the "Cycloroute71" (Tour de la Saône-et-Loire by bike), 3 km from the GR76 long-distance hiking trail alongside the legendary "Chemin des Moines" (once linking the abbeys of Cluny and Cîteaux) as well as the "ViaCluny", and 4.5 km of a signposted cycle route serving the Canal du Centre Green Way (a navigable waterway to be explored by boat or on foot) adjacent to the cycle route EuroVelo 6, like the "Tour de Bourgogne à Vélo" (Burgundy Cycling Tour), 11 km of the renowned GTM mountain bike route, certified "FFC Mountain Bike" (Grand Tour of the South Burgundy Massif, connected to a vast network of similar paths crisscrossing the massif), and 23 km of the Voie Bleue (along the banks of the Saône). In the heart of southern Burgundy, on the southern edge of Chalon-sur-Saône, at the crossroads of the Tournugeois-Clunisois (designated "Land of Art and History"), the Mâconnais, and the Charolais-Brionnais (also designated "Land of Art and History"), not far from the Bresse Bourguignonne and the Autunois-Morvan. 17 km from the market town of Sennecey-le-Grand, 17 km from Givry, 20 km from Taizé (and its famous religious community), 21 km from the medieval village of Brancion, 22 km from Chalon-sur-Saône (labeled "City of Art and History"), 27 km from Tournus, 27 km from the TGV station of Le Creusot, 29 km from the illustrious abbey town of Cluny, 48 km from Louhans, 48 km from Beaune, 50 km from the sumptuous landscaped jewel of the Roches de Solutré & Vergisson (labeled "Grand Site de France"), 50 km from Charolles & 51 km from Mâcon (Mâcon TGV station 50 km away). An ideal "cocoon" brimming with charm and serenity for an ultra-relaxing "green getaway" for couples or families!
