About this property
Catskills Modern Lakefront Cottage
Featured in The New York Times and Hudson Valley Magazine, Amber Lake Cottage is just 2 hours from the bustle of your 9-5 in NYC, that lets you catch your breath. Sleep in. Rowboat. Shuffleboard. Karaoke and play some retro Atari. Fix a s’more by the fire. Dance to a record. See the stars above you from our 2-person hammock and hear quiet for the first time in a long time…
The Cottage
A completely renovated former fishing cabin that gives you the best of everything: upscale amenities, furnished with authentic mid-century modern style. This is your perfect home base for exploring all the Catskills has to offer—though we bet you won't want to leave the house. Experiment with local produce in our chef's kitchen and a beautiful view of Amber Lake from almost every vantage.
Guest Access
What's ours is yours, and we want you to be comfortable, so make yourselves at home! You will have access to the entire cottage and property, private driveway, including the dock with full lake access. Explore the area like a local (birth place of fly fishing, anyone?) or just park yourselves on the back deck, swim off the dock and lounge in the sun for a relaxing stay.
Other Things
Amber Lake Cottage is fully stocked with kitchen supplies such such as spices, olive oil, and coffee. Firewood is stacked indoors prior to your arrival (hello, cozy fireplace). Should you need more indoor firewood than what is provided during your stay, additional firewood is available at market rate bundles. And for safety reasons it is important to always put fires out before heading to bed or leaving the property.
This is our commitment to you: we promise you a clean and fully updated cottage with lake views from almost every window. We ensure a seamless check-in process, and flawless communication throughout your stay. We also love providing surprise gifts and perks to our valued guests, and take the role of host personally and seriously.
All we ask in return is that you respect our cottage, and the items in it. For us, this means treat the midcentury furniture with kindness, you follow our guidelines about lake and fire safety, respect the AC/heat reasonably and respectfully, and you let us know if something breaks or malfunctions in real-time so we can begin scheduling repairs or ordering replacements immediately.
Before Booking
◽️ We have a strict four person maximum occupancy which is the total headcount number of overnight guests—we ask this to try maintaining the integrity of our midcentury couch as it is not meant to be used as an additional sleeping arrangement
◽️ We have to remain firm on the no pets policy (we are just not equipped to handle messes inside and out) and parties, ceremonies, or professional photoshoots are prohibited anywhere on the cottage property
◽️ Please note our washer/dryer is not advertised as a guest amenity so please pack accordingly—this is due to our close proximity to the lake with the septic unable to handle excessive soapy discharge so it is reserved for housekeeping use only

We've stayed here multiple times and enjoy it everytime. The host have thought of everything you might need (except maybe a hot tub). Kitchen is incredibly well stocked and functional. The home is comfortable and super quiet and peaceful. We love it here.
This is our second visit to the cabin. It is lovingly updated and maintained. Very clean and very well stocked. We love this little get away. Very close to good trout fishing in the Beaverkill and Willowomac.
Had a really great stay for the weekend on Amber Lake! We travel a great deal and sometimes stay in places that do not meet our expectations. This cottage was over the top clean, super well appointed and quaint and lovely. Will be back for sure. Thank you hosts for providing a great experience!
We loved this cottage and everything about it. Very clean and modern. The house is well appointed and updated. The kitchen has good new appliances and all the cooking you could ask for. Seems like the owners use this house often and like things just so. That’s a good thing. We really enjoyed staying here and we highly recommend it. Not a big place but for the two of us it was great.
Loved the outdoor fire pit.
The Amber Lake Cottage served as the perfect escape from the city. The house was immaculate and the location couldn’t be better. We loved the solitude of the lake, comfort of the house, and proximity to Livingston Manor and Roscoe.
We became experts at building fires and the s’more supplies were a surprise treat to have on hand. Suzanne and Jon’s house guide included all the tips and tricks we needed for things around the house - like connecting to the Sonos speakers and locking the doors to the deck. We were also delighted to find an easy-to-use waffle iron in the kitchen.
We hope to return to Amber Lake for another relaxing and easy getaway in the Catskills!
This was a wonderful sanctuary and beautiful home. We really enjoyed our time here, besides the beauty of the lake side setting we were amazed as to how stocked the house was. Every little detail was thought about from extra batteries, bug spray and fire pit necessities to kitchen supplies and linens. Our kids really appreciated the s'more kits - thank you!
Thanks for being great hosts Suzanne and Jonathan!
Definitely recommended and hope to be back!

About the host
Hosted by Jonathan and Suzanne
We are both from the south, so we know a thing or two about good hospitality. We like to think that Jonathan’s first love of art and Suzanne's true love of naps are reflected in our home, and we set out to create a sanctuary where you can take a load off. We feel most at home upstate, and hope you do too.
