Completely remodeled for comfort and convenience, this pet-friendly and family-friendly home is situated in the heart of Abraham Lincoln country, only 10 minutes from Springfield, IL.

Nearby are wineries, historical sites and antiques waiting to be discovered. The nationally acclaimed Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum are located in Springfield, an easy ten-minute drive through rural vistas. While here, visit Lincoln's Home National Historic Site, Lincoln's Tomb, the Lincoln Depot, Frank Lloyd Wright's Dana Thomas House, and more! Pick up lunch at the historic Maid-Rite Sandwich Shop - the first drive-thru in the nation. In the summer season, you'll find an abundance of roadside stands selling fresh produce and melons. Bike along the country roads, with bicycles provided (seasonally) for your enjoyment. This home is a short, fifteen-minute drive from New Salem State Historical Site where Lincoln tended store and surveyed the surrounding area.

The property was amazing! It is the perfect getaway for a relaxing and quiet stay. My fur baby, Bella, loved her stay too. The property is great for pets. It was very clean, and well-stocked with amenities and supplies. It is also an easy and short drive into the city. Everything is conveniently located, within about 15 - 30 minutes to area shops and restaurants. Kirsten is a wonderful host! She was always available if we had a questions and was very prompt in replying. They were also very thoughtful and kind to bring us some fresh sweet corn. They were very tasty. And everyone in the city and towns that we visited were so friendly. We definitely would stay here again and recommend this property to anyone visiting the area. Thank you!!

Country House

The house was great and as described. After spending long days at the draft horse show it was great to be able to relax there in the mornings before we went back to the hustle at the fairgrounds. Such a peaceful setting! Enjoyed it.

Perfect home away from home! Was a great place to be outside of the city bustle. But close enough to enjoy any thing within city limits. We really enjoyed our stay. Check in was a breeze, and check out requirements were clear and easy to understand.

Great Rural place to stay

I absolutely loved this place! I stayed not for a vacation but due to work. I wanted a place that felt like home so I could get the rest I needed after working long hours. (I’m a light sleeper so hotels don't work for me) This was definitely the place. The bed was comfy, the little coffee nook was great! It was home away from home. Those that want to get away from the hustle bustle off the city life, this is definitely the place.

Delightful Country Setting

We loved our stay in this delightful home. It is situated on a very rural road and the property is well-kept. We even saw a doe and her twin fawns when pulling in one day. The house itself is clean and well set-up with plenty of linens and towels available. The kitchen appliances all work well. Beds are very comfortable. You're 15 minutes from the western edge of Springfield. The only drawback is the lack of railings on the porches. I hope to be able to spend more time there. I didn't want to leave.

I left feeling disappointed.

First, I messaged with the owner at the end of 2023 to ask about whether fireworks could be heard at their property. It looked and was described as secluded, and they assured me that they wouldn't be heard, only seen. Unfortunately, they neglected to mention that the neighbors directly in front and behind set off their own fireworks for several hours, which defeated the entire purpose of my stay. I didn't message the owner, because what could they have done? I was stuck there, and had to deal with it. I was super disappointed, to say the least. Second, they have a real gnat problem. They come out of the shower drain, and whatever bugs are in the window sills were all over me as I sat at the kitchen table. Again, I didn't reach out because what would they have done? Sprayed some chemicals that probably would've required me to leave? Again, I just dealt with it because I felt stuck. Third, the bed was super uncomfortable. I've certainly slept on worse, but it was more springy than firm, and it just solidified the disappointment. Fourth, for the 2nd half of my stay, my assumption is it was the owners on the property for much of the day and night working on some sort of trailer, I don't really know. They didn't come to the house or anything, but my social anxiety was at a high the entire time. Some pros: -When fireworks weren't going off, it was quiet. -It's just a 10 minute drive to Centennial Park, which has a great walking trail. -They allowed me to bring my two cats.

We had a great stay, we only stayed 2 nights. It had everything we needed and I really appreciated the Google nest. I was pretty nice to be able to have white noise playing at night. We did have an issue with the tv during the storm, but that was out of everyone’s control. If we come back to Springfield, we would try to book this place again.

This property was perfect for our weekend getaway. Close enough to stores but felt far enough away to feel secluded, which is exactly what we needed. Kirsten was very friendly and super responsive. Would definitely return in the future.

Peaceful country retreat close to Springfield.

We really enjoyed our stay as we checked out all things Lincoln in Springfield. Only 15 to 20 min drive to downtown! Quiet countryside setting surrounded by fields and cornfields. Saw several deer in the fields out back and one right off the front porch. Communication with the host was great and check-in process was super easy. Great price and very clean and comfortable environment. Also, the shower with the jets was very popular with the kids. Would definitely stay there again if in the area!

Everything you need within 15-18 minutes

Clean home. Kirsten was very responsive to our questions, on the phone or through Vrbo. Outside is very dark so if you are traveling with dogs, I suggest bringing a flashlight for early morning/late night outings. Very quiet area. Beds and pillows were on the soft side, noting if people like this. We loved that the home was close to everything that we needed; stores, restaurants, trails for dogs, and site seeing.
